Workzoom is an all-in-one HR, payroll, and talent management platform built by Nortek Solutions, a Canadian company founded in 2000.   ### 1. Still Needs Work Despite Solid HRIS Basics

**What do you like best about Workzoom?**

It has the core functions of what an HRIS system is supposed to do, and has some interesting ideas re the reporting function (it doesn't work super well, but the spirit is there). When we'd just started, the team was amazingly supportive in implementation and improvement.

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

The biggest thing is that it isn't intuitive, from neither user nor admin side, so our staff frequently complain they get "lost" in the system. There are some baffling UX choices, like it's impossible to copy the employee's address from their profile page, or open a new tab. 
There are some issues with the system that have been brought up years ago and never resolved - e.g. an option to drag and drop a file to upload it was implemented back in 2024, but never actually worked. It's impossible for managers to see holidays of their team only. 
It's a Canadian system, and there are issues with translating it to the UK context - e.g. many terms are hard-coded for the Canadian law, and, even though they can be displayed in UK terms on request, they are impossible to search due to the way the system is programmed. Any implementation outside of Canadian law would require a lot of manual adjustments and then still not function right due to the hard coding.

**What problems is Workzoom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Workzoom team was amazingly supportive on implementation, and back then there was a lot of momentum with constant fixes and improvements. It appears the progress has stopped recently. We are not using the payroll function, which I believe is the highest priority for the team, so it may be that something is getting improved while minor issues that bug us but don't break the system remain as they are. 
We can still always reach out to the incredible team if we need support implementing a new feature, and expect their reliable help and know-how, but that's not something we've been doing recently.

What I like most about Workzoom is how it streamlines payroll operations by centralizing employee data, timesheets, approvals, and reporting in one system. It reduces manual work and makes it easier to manage payroll and employee records efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

At times, requested changes take longer to be implemented due to established workflows and prioritization, particularly when they are deemed less critical than other system updates or issues, which is understandable in any system.

**What problems is Workzoom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Workzoom eliminates much of the manual processing and paper handling involved in payroll, which reduces administrative burden and improves efficiency.

I like that the implementation is very low-key and easy going. No pressure added to complete milestones by pre-determined dates. Staff is easy approchable for customization.

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

Although regular meetings are set to discuss progress and issues, I would like to have instant access to my coach when I am stuck in testing certain applications. 

I frequently struggle with the application being stalled or doesn't update, which slows me down a bid. Refresh - clear cache - refresh - log out - log on, still not working.... waiting longer ....and so on....

Our organization is implementing Workzoom, and our account reps have been great as we work towards going live.  The creation of our sandbox has already led to valuable employee insights and helped us put a smile on employees' faces by being able to recognize service milestones in real time.  A qualitative ROI was achieved within a week of beginning implementation.  We are off to a great start.

So far we haven't found any areas of Workzoom that we dislike.

Ease of use and support from the team. They're very helpful and make time for us, regardless of where we are in implementation. Don't charge for everything after basic implementation.

Very little to be unhappy with. Any functionality not in place, they build for us - they're incredible!

Pay, time off tracking, onboarding, performance, and building a multi-division, multi-administrator pay solution, which is not something other companies will do.  In addition, Workzoom has the basics of LMS and ATS included in the system.

It isnt an enterprise system so you have to accept that you cant customise everything but in reality there isnt that much that needs customisation. They listen to feedback and are constantly looking at improving functionality

We didnt have an HR system and therefore has provided a solution for HR and the business that is driving effiiciencies and changing manager / employee behaviours. From an HR point of view allows us to change the Function to become more strategic as we now have the data to make better decisions

**What do you like best about Workzoom?**

The solution is seamless in terms of the product itself and the people who support it. 

There are modules to address every area of our people platform and they all integrate so the chances of human error are lessened by automatic data flow. As well, employee self-service is intuitive and easily accessible, reducing HR administration and allowing us to focus on people rather than process.

In the same way, the members of the Nortek team partner with our business every step of the way to ensure we get what we need from the solution, when we need it.

We are still in the process of implementing the complete complement of modules, but so far we haven't discovered anything that we "dislike" about the solution.

As a start-up company working virtually within the current "Covid environment," Workzoom supports our paperless approach and our focus on providing a "one-stop shop" for our managers and employees. 

The solution also helps us promote ongoing 2-way communication with our remote teams by offering the ability to do "instant" polling and surveys.

We’ve gotten tremendous value streamlining and automating processes that were formerly manual for us such as our quarterly performance reviews.  Because it’s an integrated application all our staff are automatically part of the review cycle. I have direct insight into how our people are doing at my fingertips and where we need to focus attention for improvement.  Also being able to push out training automatically to groups of employees and set goals and objectives for the company is great.

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

Nothing sticks out. Like with any of our technology systems, there are hiccups here and there.  It can be annoying sometimes but Nortek is always responsive and deals with any issues that come up.

**Recommendations to others considering Workzoom:**

I would recommend working with Nortek, they are a great organization and we are seeing a ton of results and success from using their system.

As our company grows, staying connected with our employees and working towards common objectives is a challenge.  Workzoom, gives us a much better way to make sure we are aligned as a team.

Access from my phone, I'm always on the go so I like not having to bring my computer with me to get caught up. It's easy to use and great to have my work contacts organized in one spot that's separate from my phone contact list.

Wish I could get text updates when objectives are due?? Currently I get a weekly email

Software is everything we wanted. Love that they're in Canada and were supporting a local business. The Nortek team is really easy to work with, they're all really knowledgable and friendly and my questions have all been answered asap, great to not have to wait forever. I definitely feel like a valuable customer and not some number like I've experienced in the past with some of the bigger vendors. Highly recommend+

We are making our goals real by putting them in the system. . Cool to add to them and see them get achieved over time and then see how we are progressing as a team overall. Before Workzoom we didn't have a way to formalize our performance, so implementing this has made us get serious about hitting our sales targets. It's also a good spot to have all of our agents contact details in one place finally, its helped with managing the whole team in a big way. We're considering adding recruiting at some point and it seems from the implementation like that's not going to be a long process because of how Workzoom is configured so its good to know we can add more when we're ready.

**What do you like best about Workzoom?**

Workzoom is super easy to use and intuitive.  I work from home a lot so being able to access my information online makes keeping track of how many vacation days I have left quick and convenient.

Although its a small feature, I really love that I get reminders of coworkers birthdays and anniversaries which helps me feel connected to my team when I'm not physically in the office everyday.  And the smart to do lists helps me know and track which tasks I have not yet completed or are due soon.

Wish I could create my own to dos but not a big deal.

**Recommendations to others considering Workzoom:**

It's a great system for all employees not just HR.  It's simple navigation makes is easy for any employee to use regardless of their technical aptitude.  It really will make your employees work life so much easier.

**What problems is Workzoom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I no longer have to email or call HR for simple things like updating my address or contact numbers.  Everything I need to know is right on my dashboard so I seldomly ever need to search for information.   Overall having everything in one place that's easy to access and navigate saves me so much time and allows me to get things done quickly.

**What do you like best about Workzoom?**

It's great having all of my compensation and benefits information is one place, being able to access my pay stubs from my phone is easy and convenient. The pay breakdown chart makes it so easy to quickly validate that I was paid correctly. I also really like that I can manage my benefits and make changes directly, this saves so much time as previously I had to request these changes from my HR department.

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

There is a lot of employment information available to me and at times it can be difficult to find exactly what I need. I have to look in multiple pages to see my full compensation breakdown, it would be great if I could see all of my pay and benefits details on one page.

**Recommendations to others considering Workzoom:**

Really think about how your employees will use the system and the impact it will have to their daily tasks. Workzoom has been well received by our employees due to its ease of use, accessibility and clever use of charts and graphs to communicate information that can often be difficult to understand. Our employees have embraced the system and get so much value from it on a daily basis.

**What problems is Workzoom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to easily compare my benefit options and see the cost impact helps me make the best choice for my family and budget our monthly expenses more accurately. The most significant benefit I seen with Workzoom is that it provides answers to most of my common questions directly in the system, I very seldomly have to call HR anymore.

Nortek Workzoom is a modern HR platform where you can manage your company payroll, benefits, compliance, performance, and recruitment — all in one, online system. What I really love about Workzoom though is the centralized employee information, everything in one place - we are able to help our staff members more quickly instead of dragging our feet through rooms of filing cabinets ~

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

Workzoom has not provided me with a single reason to dislike the platform or the team behind it - support is fast and any issues get resolved within a timely manner ~

**Recommendations to others considering Workzoom:**

If you need faster turnaround for HR/Payroll tasks, then I would recommend giving Workzoom a spin as our staff is much happier with in-house availability!

We were utilizing an out-sourced 3rd party to handle our payroll before, but as soon as we sat down through the Workzoom demo from Nortek, we instantly saw the value of also signing up for their Workforce module for our Human Resources needs - which as since decreased processing time in workflows for our in-house HR and Payroll departments ~

The web interface keeps improving and the cloud deployment was quite quick.

There is a need to continually improve on the payroll and its associated payroll activities should be made customizable for non-canadiana markets.

Very capable product that has delivered for my clients. I have received great feedback based on customer support and training initiatives. I would recommend working with Nortek, they have a well-rounded platform with great technology and that keeps getting better.

**What do you like best about Workzoom?**

We needed a platform that streamlined a growing number of processes within our organization. We chose Nortek because their platform solved 95% of our people management issues. We have recently participated in some additional in-person training that provided more insight into the workings of Workzoom as a people management application. It was a very rewarding experience.

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

We had some challenges due to insufficient staff capacity and our staff attitude to change initiatives (ie not being very receptive to change).

**Recommendations to others considering Workzoom:**

Working with Nortek has turned into a fantastic working relationship and collaboration with a group of very supportive professionals.

Our organization uses Leave, performance management, organization charts, organization profile, attendance, and training schedules. We benefit from getting all of these features from one vendor.

**What do you like best about Workzoom?**

As an HR professional, I love how my processes can be simplified using Workzoom. I enjoy the clocking, leave administration and performance appraisals. I've also benefited greatly from Nortek's training.

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

I haven't found any drawbacks as I know the more I use the system the better I understand it. I know the more data my company adds, the more insight we'll be able to gain on our employees and organization as a whole.

**Recommendations to others considering Workzoom:**

Workzoom simplifies HR for my company and the Nortek team are great to work with.

**What problems is Workzoom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Workzoom helps solve the issues we had around automating performance appraisals. We have already benefited greatly from the overall automation of our system, as well as from the knowledgeable training from Nortek's support specialists.

**What do you like best about Workzoom?**

Our employees use the system to access their data and request time off through the self-service capabilities of the system. Having a central location to house all our employee data has helped our managers track leaves and plan accordingly. We have had a long-term relationship with Nortek and have valued their flexible support services and the training they have provided us. 

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

Due to staff turnover of our application administrator, we have not been able to implement all the modules that we initially wanted. We have required additional training to get the remaining HR team up to speed on the solution. Nortek has continued to provide both in-person and online training to assist us which has helped bridge any knowledge gaps.

**Recommendations to others considering Workzoom:**

We have a great relationship with Nortek and would recommend working with them.  They have provided additional support and training when we needed it most.  They continue to find ways to provide value to our organization and further our business relationship. 

**What problems is Workzoom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can track new hires, terminations, promotions, leaves, etc. and keep our employee records up to date. We benefit from the centralized, easily accessible, secure data storage that is maintained by Nortek. We don’t have to worry about backups or lost data.

**What do you like best about Workzoom?**

Nortek has a very comprehensive solution that addresses the needs of our organization and then some. We are currently working on implementing CoreHR, Leave Management, Scheduling, Timekeeping, Clocking, and Recruiting. We are excited to provide our employees and managers with visibility to work schedules and leave balances. We have some segments of our workforce that require specific clocking and time rules, so we will be using the system to accurately capture time for these segments. 

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

We are working to get past the initial learning curve.  Implementation has taken longer than expected, however we haven't been rushed during the process. We are working together to find solutions to scenarios that are specific to our business.  

**Recommendations to others considering Workzoom:**

I would recommend working with Nortek, they are a great organization that provides exceptional support for their HR solution. We work with real people that not only understand the Workzoom platform but have also taken the time to better understand our business. We are excited to go live with a solution that is ready and configured for our business, so that the solution can truly start working for us.

Working with Nortek has been a great experience thus far. We are excited to go live with the solution and start getting value from it. We have complex time related needs that we will be using their technology to monitor.

As the Learning and Development Manager, assessing our current learning programs effectiveness is key.  Workzoom reports allow me to gain visibility to course schedules and participation rates enabling me to make course corrections as needed.

Navigating from one workspace to another can be challenging.

I highly encourage new clients to take advantage of the many features of Workzoom to achieve greater efficiencies and lift the administrative burden of their daily activities.

Our processes are currently heavily paper based, Workzoom digitalizes our HR processes helping to eliminate paper and save valuable time.

**What do you like best about Workzoom?**

Our working relationship both during implementation and after our go live date has continued to be very close and positive. Nortek is always available to answer questions, delve into issues and further our knowledge. We have experienced widespread adoption from our managers and supervisors that has led to increased visibility for employee information and control over time data. With our workforce spread out amongst many locations, it is important to have our data centralized and Nortek's solution accomplishes that. 

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

We had issues during implementation to get the solution set up properly for our organization. We have worked through a number of issues with the support team and they continue to find the 'fix' to any issues that emerge. 

**What problems is Workzoom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of our major reasons to adopt HR software was the need to reduce paper processing. We were previously processing leaves, scheduling and timesheets by hand and then forwarding to payroll to input the data. This process was such a pain, not to mention the fact that we have 23 locations which makes things even more challenging. Nortek's pay processing is more robust than our previous provider and it is easier to report from, navigate our data and again, thankfully it provides us with a paperless process.

- Ability to use the solution to provide high level reports and management use in making informed decisions. 
- The ease at which to navigate between processes.
- The integration of current practices in the solution. 
- Nortek is agile - always willing to adapt to our changing practices. The solution has evolved within a short period of time.

**What do you dislike about Workzoom?**

Being able to apply taxation from other countries on the payroll module. However it is a good solution with staff that are willing to provide support.

Our relationship has been more like a collaboration to support our organization and improve its HR processes.

We are able to get more in-depth analytics that management can use to make informed decisions.

I think the best part of using Workzoom is that it's a centralized solution for managing people. If I could liken it to another tool I'm familiar with it would be like Workday.

I don't think I particularly dislike it. I feel like it's very intuitive and user friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering Workzoom:**

I think it would be worthwhile to also consider other alternatives such as workday. I believe workday has really good support too. 
I think in terms of ease of use, Workzoom is really useful.

**What problems is Workzoom solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can now use Workzoom to keep track of our employees. Time tracking, Learning progress are some useful features to gain visibility into employee goals/progress.

I like the dashboards and advanced analytics. It truly is a great system.

It took a little bit to learn how it works, but once you figure it out it's good and simple to use!

You only have to pay for what you want to use and implement, which is nice! You don't have to pay for features that you won't use.
