It's essential for financial reporting, disclosures, and other reporting, and it solves our issues of consistency by linking numbers throughout our 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and other press release reports. **What do you dislike about Workiva?** Using 'connections' to other workspaces is usually quite clunky for us. I use Wdesk several times a day, and its stability means I rarely worry about crashes or lost work. It has robust access-permission settings that allow me share sensitive documents confidently, ensuring only the right eyes see the right data. Customer support has been stellar; whenever I get stuck, clear and timely guidance gets me back on track fast. **What do you dislike about Workiva?** Steep learning curve: mastering advanced linking, tagging, and navigation still takes me a lot of trial and error, and onboarding required outside consulting help. Interface overwhelm: the UI feels cluttered with lots of clicks in and out of windows, so quick edits don’t feel as intuitive as other tools (e.g. Google Docs). The 'processes' and 'tasks' functionality is very basic for our needs. It only allows one preparer and one reviewer but sometimes we have multiple levels of review. Additionally, it does allow a review to re-assign the task or add comments as to why they reject or deny a task. While I value the functionality, the increasing subscription costs are becoming harder to justify, especially for smaller budgets or lighter use-cases. While the support reps are great, I’d rely on them less if the manuals and tutorials were more more detailed. **What problems is Workiva solving and how is that benefiting you?** It funnels ERP and other data into one secure hub, wiping out manual re-entry and spreadsheet chaos. It gives my team an easy way to track that they've completed all parts of the audit. **What do you dislike about Workiva?** I don't like the approval process. The EWP we used to use would better track when people approved procedures or even attachments as being completed. If someone changed a procedure or workpaper post-approval, its status was returned to an un-prepared status which required people to sign off and approve again. Workiva doesn't enforce that, so it is easy to make it seem like there is appropriate preparation and approval when there isn't. The information is tracked by Workiva, so forensically it can be seen, but it isn't as obvious as I would prefer. We need a better way to update attachments, though to be fair this might be an issue with our company's configurations rather than Workiva. The initial setup was okay. It is customizable, which sounds good, but maybe isn't. We were looking for best practices and willing to change our processes. Workiva's team never offered these. They just customized it where they could to meet our existing processes. As the Workiva admin at my organization, I frequently add new hires or outside counsel to the system, and so they will reach out to me and ask for training or a tutorial. I tell them Workiva is so intuitive and user-friendly, and they usually agree after exploring it themselves. I love the linking features, which make us feel confident in our numbers and reporting because any last-minute changes get updated throughout all documents, maintaining their integrity. The blackline and compare feature is great for tracking changes and is especially helpful for informing the audit committee about updates. I also love that you can use templates. Workiva automates a lot of tasks for us, like cash flow processes, which normally take hours or days but we can complete in minutes, or at most, a couple of hours. It centralizes all our accounting data, making it readily available for creating streamlined, connected reports, ensuring consistency across earnings releases, SEC filings, and board packets. **What do you dislike about Workiva?** That's hard because Workiva is wonderful. I do think that the connectivity can be slow. I wasn't sure if it was just me, but I talked to a couple other people, and they agreed that especially when you're on a screen share, like Zoom, Workiva does slow down. So, it does have a bit of a delay, but we always get through it. It's not the end of the world. It is much less of a hassle than sending multiple emails and hoping someone will read them. **What do you dislike about Workiva?** I think the reporting features of Workiva could use some additional development. They are good but not great. I can tell that Workiva is still working to develop its reporting capabilities and sometimes I would just like to see a basic view without having to click through multiple pages. And finally, I think Workiva does a poor job with uploading files. Sometimes, the uploaded PDFs will not display properly. The text boxes in Workiva are frustrating to work in; pasting from Word will cause issues with the format of the text box content and the toolbar literally blocks part of the text you are editing. **What problems is Workiva solving and how is that benefiting you?** Workiva is providing an end-to-end solution to put the entire audit life-cycle in one place (planning/risk assessment/fieldwork/reporting/follow-up) allowing multiple audit personnel to work simultaneously and not step on top of one another and maintain a complete audit trail.
