The Tablet version is okay, but could be better! **Recommendations to others considering WoodWing Assets:** If like us, our content (all digital) was exploding and trying to keep a grip on exactly where every file/document/image/contract was, became a challenge. We implemented WoodWIng Assets, did the bulk import and now, what used to take a couple of minutes, maybe even 10-15min looking for that digital content, is now almost instantaneous. Everything is stored, managed, and shared from our SIngle Source of Truth. The one place we keep everything in, even all confidential documents as its highly secure and with detailed and granular permissions on users and groups, only the right people ever see the content they allowed to! **What problems is WoodWing Assets solving and how is that benefiting you?** Finding all your content, quickly and easily, but super quickly and super easily. Sharing large files with both internal and external users is incredibly powerful, as you can set the actual download presets. We can manage every single version of all content, and we know which is the most recent and current version without having to open the files. Metadata has allowed us to keep track of expiration dates on contracts. We can keep track of the actual usage of our marketing assets. We store all our legal and contractual agreements, and we have full details on exactly who changed what, and when. ### 5. The Collections feature is great, which allows to create collections of assets, like a playlist in Spotify, without having to duplicate them. Along with the History feature, you only have to assign meta data to an asset once, and it can sort of "live" in a multiple places. Uploading and downloading is a breeze, and the Check Out feature, coupled with the Swivle browser Agent, can be incredibly useful. Also the amount of storage to price, compared to other competitors is pretty great. **What do you dislike about WoodWing Assets?** There is no way to add custom metadata. Their built-in fields are pretty robust, over 400 fields available, but if I wanted to add a custom field, I can't. The mobile app is pretty simple and great, but you cannot upload through it. The browser version of Swivle is not very mobile-friendly either. **Recommendations to others considering WoodWing Assets:** If you've been shopping around for other DAMs, you may have noticed they are very expensive and offer a bunch of stuff you don't need. Swivle seemed to have the best bang for the buck. **What problems is WoodWing Assets solving and how is that benefiting you?** We've gotten our assets so much more organized, rather than using a typical cloud file service, and having it sync massive files to dozens of computers. This has also allowed us to create a much better asset sharing experience for outside parties, agencies, etc via the Portals feature. Drag and drop upload with batch tagging is good feature. **What do you dislike about WoodWing Assets?** When creating keywords, there isn't way to edit or delete keyword tags that was created. Elvis make easy, in no time and with an almost flat learning curve to get back in control of what you have and what you can use. **What do you dislike about WoodWing Assets?** Difficult to say, maybe that the UI doesn't have too much "nerdy" features but, eventually, it's one of its main values. **What problems is WoodWing Assets solving and how is that benefiting you?** It make the difference between wasting time struggling to find the last version of a digital asset and simply using what you need being sure is the right asset. It's easy to search or browse for assets and it is great that you can create collections of photos from conferences or otherwise. I like that I have all kind af assets in one place as opposed to an image database and a server with old layouts and PDFs and so on. **What do you dislike about WoodWing Assets?** When I send a dossier with an article to archive from Content Station and have to bring it back again it is not the same type of document I'll get back. I also have some troubles with the Elvis/Content Station integration, but I think that it mostly has to do with the fact that we haven't upgraded til Content Station 9 - yet. **Recommendations to others considering WoodWing Assets:** Go for it! **What problems is WoodWing Assets solving and how is that benefiting you?** Being a production coordinator at the Journal of the Danish Medical Association my main taks using Elvis DAM is helping the Journalists and layouters search for and retrieve photos and old articles or announcements that they need to reuse in some way. Our archive of articles dates back to 2002 so if a member of the Danish Medical Association needs something this old I'm the one who finds it. Elasticsearch provides scalability and reliability for searches to take milliseconds. Share Feature enables secure file sharing without stressing email servers. Rules based permission settings enables easy administration and security. REST and SOAP APIs enables easy integration with other systems. Underlying Technology: Elvis DAM is Java based enables easy customization. Elvis DAM was the first DAM to use the Lucene search engine to enable rapid search results. Scalability. This can be solved by leveraging the APIs or customization. Although Elvis DAM is open for customization, some may need assistance if they are unfamiliar with Javascript. In these cases, a customer may want a consultant like CyanGate. On the other hand, I have seen customers with excellent java skills excel at making their own customizations. **Recommendations to others considering WoodWing Assets:** Elvis DAM is an excellent solution for mid-tier and small companies and departments looking to organize, search, share, repurpose and distribute content. Given Elvis 5's server clustering, Elasticsearch and ability to handle a billion assets, Elvis DAM can be an Enterprise level solution. Those who will benefit the most are the following: Using Adobe CS, CC, CS6 and CC2014 on a daily basis Using large amounts of photography and InDesign Publishers using WoodWing Content Station or Enterprise Indexing large amounts of material Searching for text within documents Regulating incoming materials via FTP sites I encourage those considering Elvis DAM to run both individual tests for thirty days and a server trial to test on their own systems. Before engaging a server trial make sure you have the time commitment from all of those involved in the project, the equipment and test cases in a live environment. There was no way I would have gotten this done without Elvis. Superior Media Solutions was extremely instrumental in helping me use Elvis. **What do you dislike about WoodWing Assets?** I really don't have anything negative to say. Elvis is as good as its namesake. **What problems is WoodWing Assets solving and how is that benefiting you?** The film guide has thousands of assets, each requiring specialized metadata. Was very intuitive to work with and was very quick and easy to learn. **What do you dislike about WoodWing Assets?** Woodwing does not work super well with other softwares of similar makings, like DPS for example. There were many times the easiest route would be to use both softwares but I would have to start from scratch because this was not possible. Also I had many issues with the content viewer. Interactivity would not work or be corrupt in the viewer but would work fine on devise. Made for extra work and time used to clarify issues. **Recommendations to others considering WoodWing Assets:** Make sure you are aware of the interaction of programs and what you need to tweak in your workflow to have everything interact seamlessly. **What problems is WoodWing Assets solving and how is that benefiting you?** Woodwing is useful and great for an national editorial magazine environment. However I believe that the software needs to take into consideration the other products it will be interacting with more and make sure that these core products all work together with ease and without disruption. ### 21. Overall, it's not a very intimidating experience, which was important for our users. Getting assets into Elvis was so easy. As the admin, I felt it would have been a very great product to maintain. For a smaller company with less growth than ours, this "product" would provide a clean DAM experience for any organization. **What do you dislike about WoodWing Assets?** I know the product is configurable/customizable to a degree, but I do not know to what degree. I have a feeling Elvis' ability to grow around an organization's use cases could be limited. **Recommendations to others considering WoodWing Assets:** If DAM (archive) is your primary need - this is a great product. **What problems is WoodWing Assets solving and how is that benefiting you?** Solving - Organization, search, and metadata. We have no DAM in place at the moment, so we need to control the assets we have and create a more secure channel for them to travel in our creative process. We can quickly and easily see how our work is coming along from others comments etc. the DAM is great, its easier than using separate windows with bridge and other content management system. The functions of woodwing too are intuative compared to Adobe DPS, there are less steps to remember which makes designing content so simple. **What do you dislike about WoodWing Assets?** Nothing, its great! Would be great if the design of the DAM interface design was in light rather than dark, but that's just a personal thing, saves me getting headaches. **Recommendations to others considering WoodWing Assets:** Stick with it!
