Tile-based User interface - I prefer the traditional windows view and i do not like this tile-based interface

Search option - The simpler earlier way to search was replaced with a different kind of search on the tiles screen

It boots faster than previous versions of Windows and has great recovery and syncing mechanisms. These allow me to get my work done faster and in a more efficient way.

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2022

Modern design, fast loading time, and the free virus guard were the best things that I liked most about windows 8.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

Windows stopped providing any updates and customer support to it. That's why I moved to windows 10.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Windows 8 was solving the main issue of running a computer. It makes things easy and I was able to be more productive through it.

  ### 13. A good all around operating system and platform

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

It is intuitive and easy to use. If you are familiar with the windows family of servers, windows 8 is a very similar product and does not require a lot of time to get up and running.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

It is a bit dated at this stage so you might want to consider a more recent version with the latest productivity and security features you would expect in a modern OS.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running Microsoft windows applications such as office, IIS and being able to develop and test web applications running on the .Net framework. We did not want to retrain staff on a non-windows solution.

  ### 14. Colorful and easy to use, designed and optimized for touch sensitive laptops.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dip Jyoti S. | Online Trainee, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

It is a fancy and colorful User interface specifically optimized for touch Tablet-PC. It has a different UI compared to all Windows OS. It is very much similar to Andriod. The application's icon is modern, the animation is up to date, has pre-installed antivirus security for 1 year. Any devices that have windows 7 compatibility can run windows 8. It supports NFCs for payment and has a shorter boot time.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

Windows 8 is full of bugs and takes a longer time to load applications. Switching between applications is very difficult, and not very use-friendly causing confusion to users. It is a slow Operating system because there are many things extra that are not needed like there is a desktop background and a home background which don't make sense. The Alt+Tab keyboard function is missing which makes it difficult to swap applications, difficult for multitask. The RAM management is very poor, and there are many problems of "not responding to situations". The predecessor OS windows XP was much better optimized. Beauty outside, ugly inside.

**Recommendations to others considering Windows 8:**

If you are not in professional fields like Development and Coding, and you want to buy touch devices then windows 8 is best.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Java programming, HTML, Paint and MS Office and video conferencing. I was a beginner at that time doing basic Computer learning which is why I didn't face problems with Multitasking, Matlab and development. Young users love Windows 8 because it is fancy and colorful, but after using it for 1-2 years it would feel boring and irritating to use.

  ### 17. Used but not like it

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ankit L. | Geologist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

It's a good try but it was not good OS, But this OS introduced how an OS can be flipped from what it is right now. It gave us new UI of copy/paste and window explorer.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

I lost several time in the options in this OS. I couldn't find the applications in the OS. This was a sudden change in UI so older system got hanged as mine. But overall this was good step.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gave me new UI experience which we always expect from the updates and some of its part was good as file manager and options and not so much but start menu tiles.

  ### 18. Operating system that didn't last long as it had many issues after W7

**Reviewed by:** Elias P. | Especialista en Software y Aplicaciones, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Windows Explorer has definitely become more useful and looks great.

  ### 19. Very intuitive and easy to use touch screen type interface for OS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammad A. | Strategic Sourcing Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Very intuitive and easy-to-use interface. Especially for touch-screen-type systems. The previous version of Windows, that is, Windows 7 was not that user-friendly for touchscreen-type systems. It was more of suitable for with-mouse operations.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

The only thing that I have disliked in Windows 8 is that its stability is comparably low when compared to Windows 7. For the same Microsoft has given free upgrade to Windows 10.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Windows 8 has helped me in meeting all my business and personal needs for an operating system. It is a complete package for any home / business personal computer user.

  ### 20. This OS is unstable and has bugs

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony M. | Desktop Support, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

One of the features I like about this operating system is the interface and how it is designed. I even like how easily you can access the start menu features and tools. Another feature I like is if you have a touch screen computer it's even easier to swipe and get to your applications.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

One feature I dislike is how difficult it can be to access the tiles and applications. In Windows 7 and 10 all you have to do is do a left click on the window in order to access the Start Menu.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There aren't that many problems Windows 8 solved. The company has only used it for a short period of time. One thing I would say is the operating system is buggy and many errors during the imaging process.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amanda C. | Administrative Office Technician, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

Windows has always been more user friendly than OS, in my opinion. And Windows 8 is no exception. Since the update it has been very easy to use. The onedrive is a nice alternative to apple's cloud. Just very easy to use, not too different than previous versions.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

The only thing I didn't like was that it automatically saved everything to the onedrive, it didn't give me an option whether I wanted to do that or not before it did. So that got full quickly, when I really didn't need everything saved on there. I went back and corrected it later, but I don't think it should automatically do that without a prompting of whether you want that or not.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Just easy to use. I use Windows for work everyday and its very simple and I appreciate that.

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

I appreciate that I can still create new folders, download applications, rearrange the contents of my computer, and it works with all major browsers. Windows 8 is, in my opinion, a vastly superior operating system to previous versions.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

I detest having to spend time learning all of the new features. On tablets and smaller devices, they work significantly better than on laptops. Swiping through the live tiles to find a certain feature I want to use is tough for me, especially that my the smartphone does not have a touchscreen.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find that Windows 8 benefits me since the apps and programs I use the most are arranged in a bar that runs across the bottom of the screen, making things easier for me. It also features a cleaner, more modern look that makes finding files and programs easier. Because pinning programs to the screen does not change the desktop background, I can simply locate whatever I need to use.

The best thing about Windows 8 is the pretty smooth installation and a faster boot time compared to the previous version of windows. The synchronization with Microsoft Account is something that we, as a user, find very useful.

First thing, I like the overall experience of Windows 8. Windows 7 was slow. Also, the elegant Interface of the Windows 8 makes it look so good that even older devices are looking like new.

Another thing is, the synchronization with OneDrive is excellent. It gives a smooth experience of accessing your files on all your devices.

Also, while transferring files, previously, there was no option to pause the transfer, but now with Windows 8, you can do it too.

**Reviewed by:** Sujeeth K. | Testing Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

With my office computer, we have windows eight by default. We have not updated to 10 or even 11 because it has unique touch-specific compatibility. Offers a highly new user experience than previous versions of windows. For clients with specific compatibility requirements with Windows 8, the OS comes in handy to run software engineering and project management tasks right on the OS. With the support of Tabs, Laptops, and Desktops, Windows 8 has achieved a special place in computing devices.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

1. The tab switching experience
2. Internet protocols and privacy protection
3. No freedom to install softwares that are running on previous versions of Windows.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Industry-organized applications and virtual cloud environments that only support windows 8 for their software testing and automated business processes to perform minimum requirements are significant problems that we are solving using windows 8 for our clients.

  ### 50. Windows 8 simplicity and effectiveness

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alberto G. | Business Intelligence System Manager and Business Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Windows 8?**

What I like the most about windows is its simplicity when doing things either in Linux or in old windows.
Many of the processes are already much simpler such as drivers, installing or uninstalling programs.
The memory and process management is much more efficient in my opinion than Linux especially after forcing a process to close.
Only one way to do something but that way works. It can be more or less efficient but the important thing is that it works and does what you expect it to do.

**What do you dislike about Windows 8?**

Disk management is slower and more cumbersome and generates a lot of unnecessary data, in my opinion.
The own windows processes have to occupy a lot of space, and you cannot remove or disable them.
The virus "checker" can consume many resources without giving a valid reason to run.
If you want to use it as a server, it does not work very well because it has many background processes spending resources that do not serve you, or I do not consider it valid.
It tends to be attacked because it is more used, which can be a problem if you store sensitive data.

**What problems is Windows 8 solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My operating system is for personal and daily use; it is comfortable, simple, and easy to use.
I can play games, watch television, install programs, and print devices without being too complicated.
I like to play games, and with a couple of clicks, I can be playing without too much trouble.
