**What do you like best about WEX Benefits?**

On the administrative side, we’ve encountered very few issues. We’re able to access the reporting tools and employee benefits details we need without any notable difficulty.

**What do you dislike about WEX Benefits?**

The website is extremely slow - absolutely the slowest of any platform I regularly utilize at work.

I have also found it difficult to reach our Account Executive. I had emailed her in early January regarding a broken link in a WEX email, and received no response. I followed up with her at the end of March and finally heard back, but ultimately have not had a great experience on the support side as a newer company employee who is also new to this platform.

From an employee perspective, I did not find the reimbursement process for my HSA to be clear-cut. I utilized the app for this, was not provided clarity on whether or not the reimbursement request had been processed, and ultimately received three payouts of the same item due to this confusion.

**What do you like best about WEX Benefits?**

I appreciate the management of HSA & FSA. It alleviates the manual work for my HR team by having our HRIS send a file to WEX to inform of payroll and employee contributions.

**What do you dislike about WEX Benefits?**

Everything. 1) The COBRA platform is slower than molasses running uphill. 2) The COBRA platform does not have detailed ACTIVE vs INACTIVE participant - I have to dig to find out what last communications were last sent. 3) ALL COBRA reports are outdated. 4) Our carriers receive incorrect information for active participants - as in cancelling someone who should be active. 5) WEX Customer Service takes '5-7 days' to respond; however, truly takes over two weeks to respond. 6) How to solve FSA / HSA balance or contribution errors needs to be changed or clarified.

**What problems is WEX Benefits solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WEX Benefits alleviates manual work for my HR team by automating payroll and employee contributions tracking. However, it presents more problems than solutions, handling issues like platform slowness and outdated reports poorly.

**What do you like best about WEX Benefits?**

I like the low cost of WEX Benefits.

**What do you dislike about WEX Benefits?**

I don't like the quality of benefits administration with WEX Benefits. The following issues are from the past 6 months--and is not a comprehensive list. I could create a similar list for every 6 month period since we began with Wex in 2020. The one consistent aspect of benefits administration has been errors in benefit administration.  During open enrollment, we had a passive enrollment, and some employees didn't get their benefits coverage continued into the new year. For the first 3 months of 2026, Wex benefits passed incorrect plan codes to WEX COBRA causing errors in the file loading and did not monitor and correct the data issue without our prompting.  Wex did not send out direct bill notices for January until Jan. 9, several weeks late--and did not inform us. We waited until January 29 for Wex to provide the ACA code report delaying 1095-c distribution. Wex didn't handle domestic partner imputed income correctly for six years. They failed to pass termination dates on the eligibility file to a new carrier, causing significant billing and reconciliation issues. They also didn't set up new direct billing participants, leaving them unbilled until we identified the issue months later. Wex didn't update coverage after pay changes from our annual merit cycle in May until we pointed it out in September. Wex did not term coverage for some employees who changed class and lost benefits eligibility. We had at least one employee with coverage where they never sent deductions for payroll. When employees changed their tier from employee only to dependent coverage in a life event, Wex ended the current employer HSA contributions and did not start the new employer contributions at the new level. When there is no change to any benefit plan elections or deductions, Wex sometimes creates new coverage records and passes those to carriers which causes eligibility edits and creates reporting issues. Implementation back in 2020 was rocky--many issues to address from implementation.

WEX Benefits provides an enrollment solution at a low cost.

**What do you like best about WEX Benefits?**

Our organization enjoys using WEX Benefits for consolidating admin accounts, which is really helpful. The customer support is top tier! We love the ease of use of the systems, particularly the admin portals, and appreciate that it is user-friendly for both admins and employees. The reporting system is a favorite of ours, and we find  that being able to upload employee contributions and manage employee accounts from the admin side of things is very valuable. We also connected WEX Benefits with our Benefits Admin portal for easy data syncing. The initial setup was easy as well, as the Implementation team handled most of the heavy-lifting. WEX Benefits has been a far superior product compared to our previous option.

**What do you dislike about WEX Benefits?**

There are times when the Benefits Analytics and Reports tabs are clunky and slow to load. This happens during high peak usage times (specifically, the last or first day of the month). As someone who's been a WEX customer for 7+ years now, we now know to avoid both during high peak usage times.

**What problems is WEX Benefits solving and how is that benefiting you?**

WEX Benefits consolidates our admin accounts, providing top-notch customer support. It's user-friendly for both admins and employees, making benefits administration easy.

**What do you like best about WEX Benefits?**

I love the convenience and ease of use of WEX Benefits. The app is a wonderful tool where I can see where money was spent and any charges incurred. It's an easy and reliable tool, especially with low fees of about a dollar and 40 cents a month to maintain the account. The app keeps me updated in real time about my balances, and I can set up direct drafts for payment of medical bills on a payment plan. The initial setup was very easy, and the reps were informative and knowledgeable. The customer service has been great all around, and it's a product we continue to support.

**What do you dislike about WEX Benefits?**

Sometimes when receipts aren't accepted, it goes back and denies claims. So that part can be a little frustrating. Maybe some type of an update or an explanation as to why. It leaves you in limbo on if the claim has actually been paid or if those funds have been rejected.

**What problems is WEX Benefits solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find WEX Benefits easy to use for setting up payment plans for medical costs. The app lets me check balances, see transactions, and upload receipts in real-time. Direct deposits and low fees make it convenient and reliable.

I would love to have the notification emails if more information including the employee who used the card instead of having to check the reports.

WEX has been great at giving us reports that include what the employees are using with balances. This is very useful for our accounting department. We are using our resources using WEX as a tool to support the overall business structure.

Wex has good client support for employers. Their system integrates well with our HRIS and their platform provides a user friendly UI.  Wex performance is consistent as long as there are no unusual scenarios.  ROI is strong, as admins and employees rarely have complaints.   We have not had much experience with Wex AI or automated features so we cannot provide any review about that feature.

**What do you dislike about WEX Benefits?**

Wex operates as our COBRA administrator.  When we had an unusual scenario with a former employee who needed to retroactively continue their coverage and make retroactive payments, it took nearly two months to complete the process.  This created a stressful situation for the participant.

**What problems is WEX Benefits solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The integration with our payroll system and seamless FSA and HSA processes has benefited us by saving us time and avoiding potential human errors.

The app is pretty user-friendly, and I use it for my health savings account, which allows me to view everything at a glance. I also appreciate how the FAQ section lets me find most of my answers without having to call in.

I can submit receipts there but wish I could attach it to the request I am making, rather than having to upload it seperately.

I do not like the lack of support. When I do have a question or issue, I send an email to a generic email address and wait a lot of times weeks for a response. It is frustrating, and that part of the service I believe to be quite poor. I wish I had an assigned account manager for our organization.

I like the use of my WEX Benefits debit card, as I can use it at my local pharmacy and during my doctor and dentist visits. Additionally, WEX Benefits helped me submit my documentation properly when I had a problem with a claim.

**What do you dislike about WEX Benefits?**

The balance sometimes is off and doesn't show the correct amount. I usually have to wait a few days for it to update. Also, using it for COBRA is extremely difficult. Also the COBRA portal is HARD to understand especially when trying to get reports.

I use WEX Benefits for my Flexible Spending Account. It helped me submit claim documentation properly.

I like that they accepted some of my claims and I could use an app.

**What do you dislike about WEX Benefits?**

WEX systematically denies most claims, even some from places that they have previously approved in hopes that you will not fight them on it and they will get their money back.

In cases where I tried to comply with very stringent and ridiculous claim rules (like printing and signing and getting a sitter to sign forms completely separate from the receipts given by the agencies, or providing provider invoices and receipts for procedures), they inevitably kick a percentage of them back to you and ask you to resubmit receipts with totally trivial additional data hoping that you miss it or forget by the time your plan date ends. The plan end notification was less than two weeks before the end date via email which also gives people a short window to get documentation together.

In one case, I had them send me a PDF with the claim number (their own data) amount, and details of the claim (information I already provided in receipts), and deny my claim asking if I could PRINT out the 1 page pdf, and my receipts and FAX it to them despite having already uploaded it. If I could not do that, take a screenshot of the PDF that THEY PROVIDED and upload it to the receipts.

Everything about the service is questionable and the latter example is a flat out scam. I lost a lot of money to this plan and I hope that a class action suit or something pops up. Just horrible.

They deny payments for OBVIOUS medical costs. Southeast Texas OB/GYN- that is an OBVIOUS medical expense. Soustheast Texas Cardiology. THEN, they want a medical necessity form for hormone replacement! THIS IS OUR MONEY in a savings account and they're trying to regulate it like they're an insurance company.  It's like they are holding your money hostage and won't release it. It's basically as big of a pain to use as just having your insurance coverage. I will never use them again. EVER.

They deny payment for obvioud medical costs. This is OUR money. Hormone replacement for example. That is NOT a cosmetic cost. OBvious medical places- deny charges. And charges are being denied when they've previously approved charges.  They behave more like an insurance company than a HSA. Terrible service. Then, once they deny a payment, it's up to the client to jump throuh all the hoops to prove payment. THEN, they request a medical necessity form, for charges incurred at a medical facility!So, your experience goes like this: go to the doctor. Pay the bill with your card. WEX denies the payent. Asks for detailed receipt. You snd in the receipt. They deny it and request a medical necessity form. Fill out the medical necessity form and send that in with ICD-9 codes. Now, you've spent approx 1-2 hours of your time, jumping through these hoops, just to use your own money.

They reject transactions at random. I just had my Amazon account locked because they withdrew payment for FSA-eligible items. Good luck complaining — they'll send you an email through their secure messaging service, which won't take your login.

**What do you like best about WEX Benefits?**

Unfortunately, there isn't much good I can say about this service. Their interpretations of IRS rules are off and tend to be on the draconian side. Would not recommend. However, their phone support representatives are polite and patient.

**What do you dislike about WEX Benefits?**

Their complaint process is onorous and requires that you jump through hoops. They are inflexible when it comes to problem resolution. As a "credit card" company, they don't accept credit cards to resolve payment issues. You literally have to WRITE a PAPER check and MAIL it to them. In this day and age, a lack of support of commonplace technology facilities is indicative of how they're stuck in a yesteryear mindset and unfit solutions. Would not recommend.

They are not solving problems well, when they arise. They are very "sorry" when you have a problem. However, options for conflict/problem resolution are limited and put all the responsibility on you as a user. Would not recommend.

Wex was great for using my FSA. The app was fairly easy to navigate and I most especially loved adding the card to my digital wallet. Signing in was easy, and I greatly appreciated the graph of where specinding went.

Notifications regarding receipts due were sometimes lost, and figuring out where to add the reciept was difficult. I was annoyed that some of my doctors visits didn't register as auto-approved. If it was approved once, I wish it would have auto-approved moving forward.

WEX made it easy for employees to access their FSA benefits. Without it, the lack of organization would have been astounding.

There is nothing to dislike the process to access benefits is very easy, it has simple to follow instructions online and in paper or via a phone call for end users making administrative requirements minimal.

Sometimes, it can take their service team a while to answer our questions (longer than 48 hours). I will call if I need immediate assistance.

Everything. I have well over a thousand dollars in my son's account. I was told initially that this would cover medical expenses, only to learn that the dependant account only covers daycares and camps. Well, I just tried to use the card to pay for my son to go to the YMCA for Spring break. My card was not getting accepted. I called to find out what the problem was. I was told that the YMCA is out of network. WTH!! What do you mean? I asked. Well, "you can pay for it and get reimbursed" now why the heck would I do that when the money is availabe for what I was told 'camp'. I can't wait to cancel this crap. Never again and I will share with anyone who ask about WEX. I hate that I enrolled in this crap.

It's incredibly easy and user-friendly to navigate. I like how it seamlessly shows me a dashboard of how many funds I have in all of my accounts and I don't need to navigate to too many tabs to find what I need.

While the dashboards are great for seeing your balance, I wish it was easier to find documents and forms such as end of the year tax records (timely for this review!)  so that I'm not scrambling across several areas of my dashboard.

It's solving the issue of me not knowing where to look to find all of my account balances, what I can + cannot spend my HSA/FSA benefits on and more. It takes a somewhat confusing topic and makes it easier to find what I need.

Though it's simple looking, the UX and interface is not user friendly and I often have to click around to find what I'm looking for. There is also no place for deeper info around my specific benefits.

They do not want to pay you your own money. The claims department can never be reached. They make up reasons to deny your claims and forfeit your money. The customer service is incompetent and cannot provide the information despite 10 phone calls for the same reason. They keep changing their guidelines for reimbursement and state different time periods even when you can clearly see different online. When you challenge them, they call it "IRS Guideline?????" I so regret saving money with them in the first place,

I like that the main dashboard has {mostly} the information I am looking for.  We use it for Lifestyle Spending, Dependent Care and Healthcare Spending.

There are really thorough dashboards for the HS and the money spent there, but there isn't a lot of information or clear reporting for Dependent Care or for the LSA.  We have more money in dependent care than we do the HSA and I wish it was clearer

Administer supplemental benefit offerings like HSA, LSA, FSA, Dependent Care, Commuter Benefits.  IT is a much more user friendly platform than previous platforms we have used for the same thing

We chose WEX benefits for HSA benefits for our employees. We like that there are debit cards and WEX provides two per account.

Multiples employees have reported difficulty with enrollment, and multiple employees have experienced difficulty actually using their debit cards. Several major retailers in our city no longer accept the WEX card.

HSA funds are payroll-deducted (and company-matched, if applicable) and loaded to the employee's WEX account. We are not responsible as a company for the HSA account.
