I love the ability to install VyOS in the virtual environment and on standard physical computers to help resolve complicated network scenarios. I also like utilizing the Linux back end to extend the capability beyond the typical router setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The main downside of VyOS is currently the lack of a GUI. For me personally, working in the command line my entire IT career, it is not an issue, but some of my colleagues would prefer a GUI to help them with configurations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's open source. The fact that it can be installed on cheap, readily available hardware. In our case, coming from EdgeOS, the config structure was very familiar. It is very stable. We have been using it increasingly for ~2 years now on an eBGP network and have zero issues. 18 of our 50+ sites have transitioned to VyOS and until just last week the only issue we have had was a DHCP server needed to be restarted one time. Otherwise as long as the power is up, they are operating. The issue discovered last week may well be with EdgeOS but we're having trouble getting a BFD session to establish from VyOS to EdgeOS. I honestly can't think of anything I dislike. It would be tiny nitpicking things if I mentioned anything but at the moment my mind is blank on that level of issue even. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

VYOS in my experience is very stable and upgrade process is also very easy. I used it in my HomeLab and it had many features like IPSEC, BGP even some new routing protocol like babel. Containerization in another thing i like the most where you can download Docker images so integration was easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

VyOS stands out as a robust and flexible networking solution, offering a wide range of features.
VyOS provides robust support for BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) configuration,
it allows fine-grained control over BGP route advertisements.
VyOS enables AS path manipulation, which is crucial for traffic engineering and load balancing. By selectively prepending AS path information, we can influence route selection across multiple BGP peers.
VyOS is built on a Linux-based operating system, which provides a significant advantage for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
VyOS’s Linux foundation means we can create custom scripts, automate tasks, and integrate with other tools. Whether it’s monitoring, backup, or dynamic configuration changes, the Linux shell provides endless possibilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is very little i dont like about Vyos. It has been an excellent product so far. It would be useful to have tools to quickly analyze the bandwidth traffic (top talkers). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
