**What do you like best about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

V4S (Volunteers for Salesforce) is integrated with Salesforce CRM which is the greatest advantage of this tool. Installing the module is very simple and the baseline features are simple to use and understand.

**What do you dislike about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

If you have any volunteer management system that does not fit into the V4S standard expectations (e.g. group volunteer opportunities, on-site registration) the tool itself can be quite frustrating as it requires you to go into the object settings and create custom fieldsets/objects not to mention workflows to make V4S more optimal. The web interface of the tool is also old-fashioned and offers limited customization which makes it difficult to integrate it into a more modern public-facing website.

**Recommendations to others considering Volunteers for Salesforce:**

I would skip considering this tool and instead explore a more fully-featured volunteer tool.

**What problems is Volunteers for Salesforce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allowed my organization to hold all volunteer information within the CRM instead of having to manage multiple spreadsheets. It is now a solid tool after much customization I did to the back end.

**What do you like best about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

It is comprehensive of all the things you'd want to record about volunteer management: tracking hours, creating and dispersing schedules, etc.

**What do you dislike about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

It seemed a bit difficult to adjust or customize, requires specific SF consultants to make changes.

Recruiting and managing volunteers for a nonprofit org, setting their schedules and recording hours for grant purposes

**What do you like best about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

Salesforce's V4S is good start where the base details are standardized and the data structure is organised due to the standardization. However, each organisation has a different need/vision which makes the one size fits all rule obsolete. But as I said it gives the basics that are needed and you would have to customize it which is not easy as the conditions and settings change with every release. I would say if you are looking for ease of customization this might not be the easiet platform to use however when looking at it as part of the Salesforce CRM package i.e. CRM, NPSP, V4S it makes it a good addition.

**What do you dislike about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

The one size fits all rule is obsolete. This is where the issues start as Salesforce build v4s is a crowd sourced  build which is just backed by Salesforce. Mind you that the release schedules are different - the timelines for issues fixes are different etc. The whole .org vs .com debacle still continues but I believe Salesforce should provide the service for NPSP like any other enterprise software and not cut corners just because NPO's are offered access to the platform at a lower price point.

Please do your due diligence before getting into it as most of the Salesforce safe harbors actually affect your decisions.

**What problems is Volunteers for Salesforce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were standardizing the usage of the volunteers across our organisation which has multiple streams in which volunteers are used. The base helped us get to a starting point and do a very basic SWOT/GAP analysis.

**What do you like best about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

I really enjoy that Volunteers for Salesforce lets us easily track our volunteer activity and have it automatically added to their Contact record. The self-sign up portal has also been great, as volunteers can track their own activity and sign up for the shifts that fit into their schedule.

**What do you dislike about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

I really wish that it was more easily customizable. We have access to the code to change some things, but we've had to create a lot of workarounds to have the app function in the ways we need it to. For example, our organization tracks volunteer activity by shifts, rather than hours. There's not currently a way to change this in Volunteers for Salesforce, so we've had to set all of our shifts as one hour. It's led to confusion with our volunteers, as it still clearly lists hours on their sign up app. All of my dislikes are small things like this, but it would be great if we can take the reins a bit more.

**Recommendations to others considering Volunteers for Salesforce:**

Volunteers for Salesforce is great for what it is, and it's fantastic that it speaks to Salesforce so easily, but really think about how much customization you may need, because you may not be able to do it all within the app.

**What problems is Volunteers for Salesforce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's been a gamechanger for us to be able to have volunteer activity live within their contact record. Before this it had to be manually counted on individual shifts in a FileMaker database, so things are much easier now.

**What do you like best about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

I like that I am able to keep track of my contacts that volunteered before. This helps if a staff member comes in new or a new volunteer coordinator takes over, it is all documented in one place. This is essential for a company like ours that highly depends on volunteers or relationship-building. It helps keep track of old, new and current volunteers and also manages all of our campaigns so we can go back and see the work we did in the past. 

**What do you dislike about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

I dislike the volunteer jobs tab. I don't really understand all it's components and need to still play around with it.

**Recommendations to others considering Volunteers for Salesforce:**

You should try it since it is free. It might help you manage volunteers.

**What problems is Volunteers for Salesforce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving the problem of organization and I have realized that it is a good system to keep track of volunteers and duties for an event rather than relying on so many other methods. As a nonprofit organization, we highly depend on volunteer staff to support our efforts.

**What do you like best about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

I like how easy it is to create and manage shifts internally. I also like being able to see everything easily on the Salesforce platform. 

**What do you dislike about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

When you are using outside Volunteers, it is not easy for them to see and manage their own events, and they need to contact an administrator if they want to change their shift, check their hours, or change their volunteer date, which can be a pain if you are managing 100+ volunteers. 

**Recommendations to others considering Volunteers for Salesforce:**

Better for smaller volunteer groups. Managing large groups is not easy. 

**What problems is Volunteers for Salesforce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to create multiple events as well as view and track hours easily using a custom V4S dashboard.

A great site which aims to please, allowing volunteering login information at the touch of a button.

Nothing i can see from the outset is wrong with it.

I have seen the benefits from working with this website as filling the needs of the business using as little overhead as possible.

Salesforce Volunteers is great for all non profits because it is the best in it's class and it's also free.

**What do you dislike about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

Salesforce Volunteers has a problematic interface. It just feels cluttered and hard to find things you want sometimes.

**Recommendations to others considering Volunteers for Salesforce:**

I would definitely recommend it over Blackbaud. I don't know of another product in this space that Is better than Salesforce Volunteers.

It's great for tracking the activity of volunteers. The benefits we have realized are that past software was nowhere as good as this.

I think that the Salesforce platform has some incredible benefits for small orgiazations particularly the price.

The ability to manage donations and volunteers out of the box. You can also mange skills and schedule jobs I a calender via volunteer campaigns

**What do you dislike about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

Salesforce keep updating this package so not much I don't like, it serves its purpose

**What problems is Volunteers for Salesforce solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scheduling volunteers and adding them to campaign jobs based on skillet sms availability. Also great for taking recurring donations

**What do you like best about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

Volunteers for salesforce is good for small operations as its easy to go in to the platform and see who is signed up for something and communicate with them. 

**What do you dislike about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

The platform is not at all user friendly and requires a lot of hours just to learn, which is a problem if you are working with a non-profit. Web integration is also very tough and requires you to link off-site, which is also an issue when you want to keep people on your site. Customization options also need to be bolstered, as not all volunteer needs are the same.

Invest in training early, don't try and figure it all out on your own.

We are solving communication issues with our volunteer base.

I like that it is user friendly if you already know how to use the CRM software; it works the same.

**What do you dislike about Volunteers for Salesforce?**

I sometimes have to try two or three times to save data and info and it’s cumbersome to attach data to accounts

The way the software categorizes volunteers by campaign, job, and shift. Also, the way it breaks down volunteers into individual and households.

It can be hard to learn and if you don't have admin capabilities you won't be able to change all you want.
