We have a very broad range of Volunteering opportunities and Better Impact has all of the features and options to cater to the different needs. The software is a little unintuitive to use. It feels like features have been added in as requested and figuring out how to get the system to do what you're asking can be cumbersome at times. The fact that the volunteers can access the system and take care of their own profiles, rosters, hours, and access documents and training modules relieves a big workload from our staff in terms of Volunteer management. I've used Better Impact for more than a decade. It is user-friendly and allows us to to monitor applicants through the process of becoming volunteers every step of the way. Scheduling, communications, reports and even a document library. It's all there for one annual subscription. With each update there are more features to help with your volunteer program. Many of these features are ala carte with other vendors, and included with Better Impact package. It is definitely a robust workhorse at a reasonable price and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for volunteer management software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Volunteer Impact by Better Impact? There is really nothing I dislike about the database. Major updates to the system have occurred a few times over the years which cause you to relearn the software. While in the end, it's always an BIG improvement. Like any other software, it takes time to relearn how to use it. It's can be challenging at first, but once you get the hand of it, it is smooth sailing and you get to use all the new features. Recommendations to others considering Volunteer Impact by Better Impact: Look at all all the other vendors with volunteer management software and compare what your get from each of them. As I said above many of the vendors use a base price with ala carte items extra. Better Impact is soup to nuts for one reasonable price. The database allows us to make the application process a breeze and allows us to tailor applications to different volunteer positions. Scheduling is a breeze too and our volunteers love the mobile app to log volunteer hours . We use Better Impact as a tickler system to remind us when volunteers need updated information in their profiles. It's hard to answer as there are many aspects that are great about Better Impact. One of the initial things was the help we received from the staff; they have always been so quick to reply and incredibly helpful and knowledgable. I love that they help me to understand where I've gone wrong and encourage me to make the necessary changes, which means I'm equipped with the knowledge and can do it on my own in the future. When you click the tabs at the top, I would prefer it if it changed the whole page, not just the menu at the side, as it often feels like you're still on the same page. Better Impact is by far a one-stop-shop for volunteer managers and non-profits. It is a database and learning management system all in once! The reports are detailed and once accustomed to the software, the sky's the limit! Their feedback features is amazing to collect data that really matters - the work the volunteers are doing - so that reports mean so much more than numbers, they mean impact! We absolutely love how easy it is to customize. We create fields for needed data in order to create reports for everything we need. We also love how easy it is to use both for our staff and our volunteers! There are many ways we use Better Impact to support our 1000+ volunteers. It gives us both flexibility and control. I recommend Better Impact to every volunteer program administrator that I know. I even offer to coach them for free because I know how much time it will save them. The customer service is amazing. Quick, helpful, answers questions, and if they don't understand my question they keep asking. They don't stop until there is a resolution or answer. The system is flexible and can be used in different ways depending on the needs of the organization. There are roles that volunteers have to do training before signing up and this "filters" volunteers based on the learning modules (which are great to have) completed by volunteers. The Volunteer Impact system tracks everything we use to manage the program. My favorite features are: 1- Volunteers On the Clock – I can tell who is here at any given time and what they are doing. I’m a visual person so having their names and photos easily available helps me to remember who everyone is. 2- Volunteer Portals- volunteers can track their information, sign up for activities, answer customized onboarding questions and upload important documents like photo releases, and track their hours. 3- Reporting functionality- being able to track all this data about our volunteers helps me to make impact reports to share with members and donors and generate excitement at this wonderful program at our organization. Before we set-up Volunteer Impact we had no centralized system for tracking hours, contact information, posting events or recruiting volunteers. We used paper timesheets, contact sheets, photo released and manual acknowledgments. They were hard to organize and not available unless you were physically in the program office.
