What do you like best about VMware vSphere?

Aside from the usual benefits of virtualization, VMWare is constantly raising the bar by adding new features and technologies. They've just added multiprocessor fault tolerance for example, they're working out the slowness issues with the GUI and adding cool new technology like VSAN Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware vSphere?

The pricing and licensing are a nightmare. The GUI is nearly unsably slow at times Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering VMware vSphere:

Its expensive, but for a very good reason: Its the best at what it does. Bear in mind the pricing, and also bear in mind that many of the other products you use might use a different licensing model if you virtualize them Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is VMware vSphere solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are able as an IT organization to be far more agile than we previously would have been. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about VMware vSphere?

The performance for guest VMs (with proper resource provisioning) is excellent. Ease of navigation via the vShere desktop client is intuitive and easy to master. The desktop client is very responsive. Licensing price point is good for small businesses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware vSphere?

I am not yet a fan of using the vSphere Web Client, which I know VMware is pushing towards. Many techs are like me, and hold off on using it. At least for now. The desktop client is more responsive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering VMware vSphere:

This hypervisor gets the nod over its competitors in the industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is VMware vSphere solving and how is that benefiting you?

This product is used to create and manage production virtual servers for numerous companies. The use of VMware is a wise choice over Microsoft's Hyper-V because of the vast number of IT professionals that know the product. This is not to say Hyper-V is inferior; it means that going with VMware guarantees competent support staff are abundant. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
