The way we used to communicate with our team (PwC employees and third party vendors) was through emails and a proprietary chat application only. We had a DLP solution back then, which used to warn me when email was being sent outside of PwC, but there was no real document scanning as such. Which means whether to send the data to a 3rd party or not was totally dependent on the wisdom of the person writing the email. Well, this was a major painpoint as I had to double/triple check the emails and attachments before sending any email to the entire team.. Even though I tried SafeSend briefly I am happy with the fact they are solving that painpoint for me without requiring me to learn anything new. Well, you do have to define the rules though, but that's usually the job of admins. **What do you dislike about VIPRE SafeSend?** There is nothing in particular to dislike. They've done a good job at what they do.. I do have some suggestions though, or rather I have another painpoint that you might wanna solve. Even with the safeguards in place, sometimes I've sent emails with figures and numbers that can be deemed 'sensitive'. I wish I had a way to "undo" or "unsend" or "edit" that email after sending that (something like chat apps let you do these days). I know emails are very different than chat, but it's a wild though **What problems is VIPRE SafeSend solving and how is that benefiting you?** One important problem (of my interest) that Vipre is solving is the rule-based document scanning. Apparently it has support for most of the popular file formats, but I've tried with docx and pdf only, and it works. They also saw an option for OCR based scanning, but didn't get a chance to see that in action. Basically, you (or admin) define some rules (regex or simple pattern) and enforce that, and those rules will be applied on all of your email attachements. Yu get some really granualar control over the where and when those rules should apply. You can set some rules to apply only for specific categories of receipients, or specific type of file etc.. This is where things can be complicated but they have simplified the process as much as possible. Regardless, whoever defines these rules should have domain knowledge already; the end-users don't have to worry much. ### 4. It becomes second nature that another step is needed when sending any emails, over time, people just click through and let the message be sent. As an admin being able to centrally manage is very important and Vipre provides very detailed management via their GPO templates. **What do you dislike about VIPRE SafeSend?** There are a lot of settings available via the GPO templates so maybe better online documentation as to what each setting is would be helpful. Many did not want to disable the list but we had to stop the sending of information to the wrong recipients. Slowing everyone down to make them check the external recipients has solved that issue. **What do you dislike about VIPRE SafeSend?** It sometimes is slow to load so Outlook wants to disable it. While there is a method to prevent it, pushing that out to all the workstations isn't easy and monitoring it is nearly impossible. The only other issue is that you have to push out a new license code every year with renewal.
