Top Rated VidGrid Alternatives

VidGrid has a lot of basic tools that allow for quick and easy screen captures. VidGrid can also be integrated into multiple LMS and allow graded quizzes created on the videos. Adding closed captions (at a reasonable price) is very quick and easy to do as well. The Guest Recorder feature allows instructors to let students use VidGrid within the instructors account, which can keep all video recordings for a class organized and managed easily. There isn't multiple bitrate for video playback, but I'm pretty sure VidGrid is planning to add this in future versions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Simple tool for video capture and hosting, with some 'bare bones' editing capabilities. Easy to use, but... (see below) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The university where I work recently launched an inquiry to replace VidGrid. I have attended presentations by two different vendors, and found both their proposals to be far superior to what VidGrid offers.
Both of the products/services offered include advanced video editing tools, automatic captioning with the possibility to edit them manually, advanced hosting services, in-video quizzes and other interactice tools, close integration with LMS, etc.
In view of these alternatives, I find it difficult to justify the use of VidGrid, unless it was offered for free (as there are similar online services that can be used free of charge). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
VidGrid has been very useful for screen recording in our College, and the UI is intuitive and easy to explain to others. It's also been simple to troubleshoot issues with VidGrid. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'd really like if there was a desktop app version of VidGrid, rather than just the in-browser site. It can be cumbersome for many of our users to login through a browser and then have to open the screen recorder separately on the desktop. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love that VidGrid has so many features in one place that take the place of what used to require many separate tools: video recording, editing, hosting, captioning, LMS integration, and quizzing are just a few of the features available all in one platform.
Their support is amazing...enter a question on the chat screen, and someone is answering your question within minutes! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are few downsides, but if I have to choose, I would say that it would be nice to have more robust video editing features, such as the ability to record over a portion of the video when information needs to be added at a later date or to edit audio. That being said, part of the beauty of VidGrid is that it is user-friendly to faculty. Adding too many features may make it less so.
I would like to see videos that are embedded in Blackboard copy from one section to another. I am not sure whether this is a Blackboard or a VidGrid problem, though.
I wish it had a screenshot tool with a place to host photos, not just video Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the closed captions, trim tool, quizzes, and chapters. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish I could more easily add content in the middle of a video instead of having to split a video, create a new video, and merge the three. More advanced editing would be helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like VidGrid because it has been extremely satisfying to coordinate a sustainable remote connection, it has definitely taken it for granted that I can make a video call without the connectivity going down. All the tools are well executed and functional. Very good program, I like it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't like that the software is slow sometimes, maybe it is because of the constant updates that the program makes and the hardware is falling behind in performance capacity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As a site admin, the best thing about VidGrid is that it is easy to use and requires almost no end-user support. When there is a need for support at the admin level, the VidGrid team is responsive to requests. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do wish the analytics piece was a little more robust and that we could create more fine-grained permissioning, but honestly, if I had to choose, I'd prefer they continue to devote development resources toward the recorder/playback platform over these administrative details. My favorite feature of VidGrid is their customer support system. Chat is almost always available and live. Just yesterday, I had a query that was not only discussed and solved in real time with one of their support personal, but a question I had was answered with a very helpful screen recording video that was recorded as an immediate response. Sometimes my organization's needs require smaller, non-essential features that aren't always available. But this is a stretch to call it a dislike. I understand that startups have limited resources and must prioritize their modifications. So really, I'm reaching here for a dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As with many smaller operations, the best thing about Vidgrid is their responsiveness to requests. Actually, the whole process from describing our use-case scenario, through a trial/demo from them, through making our purchasing decision was really easy and smooth. And then, as we used the product more and more, and thought of additional helpful features we wanted, they were quick to respond and (usually) add those features for us. Their team has been a pleasure to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
At this point, there's nothing we've requested that hasn't been provided by them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love how simple and easy it is to just start recording an audio or video with VidGrid. It took me minimal effort to get started but I do highly recommend the training videos first. Then follow along with them (at least that was helped me learn faster). Probably my favorite thing about VidGrid is after you do a recording you can simply just share this with someone else and quickly. I've recorded and uploaded it to and on YouTube before and VidGrid is faster and cleaner by far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do appreciate how simple VidGrid is but in some regards it feels a bit too simplistic. I guess I'd like MyGrid to be laid out with more options. It sounds like I'm not satisfied, its more that I feel like something is missing. Like more editing options to the videos themselves. For instance: If I uploaded a video from a source like Camtasia but then I wanted to make some small edits to the video that would be fantastic. Does this make sense? VidGrid is a quick and easy way for me to create and upload videos for my students. Anytime that they are having trouble with a concept, or I just want to review instructions for using a graphing calculator, I can make a video within minutes to assist them. With distance learning such a large part of what I do now, being able to make videos quickly and efficiently is important. With prior methods, it seemed like it would take an hour just to create a 10 minute video! Once my college adopted VidGrid, and linked it with our SSO process, I definitely started creating more videos for my students because the process was made so much easier. There is nothing that I dislike about VidGrid. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
