Switching to Verkada has been a great decision. **What do you dislike about Verkada?** Considering we are relatively new to the Verkada universe, we haven't found anything so far that we dislike. **What problems is Verkada solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had an existing CCTV network, navigating the interface and finding footage was slow and cumbersome and sometimes we gave up before we found the footage. The Verkada platform is so easy to navigate and finding footage is the single biggest advantage. This means we are saving time in finding the footage and resolving issues. ### 6. The organization settings for all our cameras on the app is nice and makes permissions settings easier. Sound quality on the cameras is good, too. They've been good to replace cameras that had weather damage. **What do you dislike about Verkada?** We had a few cameras that had a mic problem, but Verkada replaced all of them for us. **What problems is Verkada solving and how is that benefiting you?** Verkada's app helps me keep all the cameras on campus under one login, and the software is intuitive so that police and and other users needed very little training, if any, to download their footage and set up grids. ### 7. Cameras can be grouped and controlled by policy if that is what is desired. **What do you dislike about Verkada?** After thoroughly describing an intended use case to a new sales representative, a subpar camera was sent that was not up to handling the distance required. They have a model that easily would have accomplished the job, but they did not send it for some reason. When a request was made for the appropriate camera, there was a delay of three weeks for a demo unit. The delay was not because one was not available, but because our rep could not convince someone to send one out to us. Not sure what the problem was, but after three weeks we moved on to another vendor. Shortly after we switched, the rep came up with a camera and then tried to guilt me because we didn't want it anymore. I am sure this was an isolated incident, but annoying nonetheless. **What problems is Verkada solving and how is that benefiting you?** Verkada's cameras and monitoring services are helping with loss prevention and fraudulent claims. The ability to scrub quickly through footage and to locate by time/date has been an indispensable time saver. ### 8. Great product. We use their cameras, access control and guest management system. We are very happy with all of them. They have a range of cameras for every application. The cloud storage is convenient and inexpensive. The interface is simple and easy to use. Of note is the fisheye camera. It's almost like magic. It covers a 180-degree range in every direction and can zoom in on a target like it's pointed directly at it. While continuing to record the entire field of vision the whole time. The access control works flawlessly and our employees love being able to use the phone app to open gates and doors instead of their badges. We are in the process of replacing our entire system of access control and cameras with Verkada equipment because it's simply a better solution. The service is also top-notch. Our sales rep Pierre is super-responsive and easy to work with. We've never had a problem with sales or support. When we wanted our cabling contractor to get Verkada-certified for installing the Verkada equipment, Pierre made it happen. And finally, when it seems everyone is having supply chain issues, Verkada delivers. For us to get the equipment any faster, they'd have to ship it before we ordered it! Highly recommend Verkada solutions across the board. **What do you dislike about Verkada?** I honestly don't have any negatives on Verkada. When we started using Verkakda equipment we had a little confusion about our licensing but Verkada made sure everything worked and they resolved the licensing issue quickly. **What problems is Verkada solving and how is that benefiting you?** Vekada's cloud-based solution means that we don't have to figure out our storage requirements. We can select how long we want to retain video and the license accomadtes the storage, we don't have to figure out the storage required for 30-day retention and worry about running out. We ended up purchasing several to use and they have been very beneficial in helping fight against vaping. We have cameras that point to the areas where these sensors are so we know who is in the area when the alarms trigger. The cameras aren't verkada cameras as we already had them installed but using the time stamps from the notifications can go back and pin point who was in the area when the alarm happened. **What do you dislike about Verkada?** Alerts per user are configured for all sensors the same, it'd be nice to setup individual preferences for each alarm for each user. (ie a user could get text and email alerts for some sensors and just email alerts for others but currently, this isn't a feature without using 2 separate accounts for notifications. I'd prefer to just buy directly from the company and not have to use a partner but a lot of places are like this. I also don't like the yearly license cost on top of the device cost but these are just minor cons. **Recommendations to others considering Verkada:** We had a very pleasant experience and would do business with again in the future. **What problems is Verkada solving and how is that benefiting you?** People taking part in activities (vaping) on our grouds when it is not only unhealthy for them it is a direct conflict with the rules and standards in place here. **Official Response from Team:** > Hi Steve, thank you for your thoughtful feedback! The user interface for Verkada Command allows a quick setup even for our less tech-savvy building staff. **What do you dislike about Verkada?** So far the sensors have been exactly as described and correctly alerted staff to a myriad of concerns. We have no complaints. I would like to have the ability to chain the devices together rather than have to do "home-runs" back to a switch but that is very minor. **What problems is Verkada solving and how is that benefiting you?** One of the largest concerns in the K-12 environment is vaping. Camera analytics are included and require no setup or frustration. You can start with one camera, and end up with 5,000 - it does not matter. Storage is on the camera, as you grow your deployment, you do not need to reinvent your recording infrastructure. Firmware updates are automatically applied. The hardware is warrantied for 10 years. The support experience is world-class. Chat support is exceptionally fast, and low hassle. If you need to RMA a device, support will make the process smooth. The overall architecture seems to be the model of the future. **What do you dislike about Verkada?** Price may be out of reach for some users or applications. The ability to access & record camera feeds locally using an open standard poses some integration challenges with 3rd party products. Verkada is actively developing the product, and as such, features sometimes get moved around, renamed, or just disappear. Reasonable development requests (like making the motion search grid size smaller) have been requested countless times, for years, and still, no action has been taken. Some products such as Alarms & Access Control, or Visitor are early in development and are not at the level of development e require yet. There are some concerns these three products (Alarms, Access Control and Cameras) are all being developed independently, and items such as assigning permissions are separate for each product, which removes some of the magic of buying everything from one vendor. The camera image quality is inferior to many competitors. There are limited options for cameras, if you want a multi-sensor camera, Verkada does not sell it. The 360 camera is a somewhat poor product. Adjusting the image is downright painful and comes with significant compromises (no analytics, ugly view, etc). While not an issue for us, some may not be keen on a recurring, subscription model, you can, however, pay for multiple years upfront. If you decide you do not wish to use Verakada software in the future, your equipment essentially becomes a brick. **What problems is Verkada solving and how is that benefiting you?** Security cameras for safety, theft, monitoring, compliance, and accountability. By deploying Verkada our overall management effort is not focused on managing or maintaining the product, but rather on using it. Since Verkada is so easy to use and understand on the web, or Mobile, more users can benefit from access to the product than would have been possible with competitor products. ### 15. More than anything, Verkada just works. Everything comes in fantastic packaging with everything you need. Scan the QR code, connect to the internet, and you're done. The web portal is amazing and makes sharing camera access with staff super simple. We can even send a link to people that need temporary access like police/security we have onsite for special events. The leap from our previous on-premises camera solution is enormous, and we could not be happier. It is not the cheapest product on the market, but it is well worth the investment. **What do you dislike about Verkada?** The simplicity can lead to limited customization options for some things. Most recently, we started using the Guest system. The name tags layout is set by Verkada with no other options. It makes things easy, but there are some things we would enjoy slightly more control over. That being said, another great positive of Verkada is the ongoing support. We can submit feature requests, and all the products are continuously receiving substantial updates that continue to increase the value of our investment in the platform. **What problems is Verkada solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cloud camera access was one of our biggest requirements, and finding a system that is built around that has been wonderful. We were also ready to make the transition away from Hikvision, particularly with the potential for further governmental restrictions around that brand. Just plug the camera into your network and quickly configure the Verkada Command portal. This camera system from Verkada helps us see problems as they may arise and provide video after the fact if it is needed. The systems are well thought out and contain great features. Our previous systems required complex network isolation, static IPs, on-prem managed servers and device firmware update schedules. With Verkada I simply plug the devices into a flat POE switch and call it a day. **What do you dislike about Verkada?** I've had a few pieces of equipment arrive unresponsive, but support is always quick to send out replacement hardware after a quick online chat session. We had to set the alerts up on each sensor. Verkada alerts so we only focus on those and we know what is going on now in our environment. **What do you dislike about Verkada?** The only think we have disliked, is that sometimes a camera is slow to show the live stream.
