## Vena Reviews
 ### 1. Endless Solution for Finance professionals

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohamed S. | Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2024

**What do you like best about Vena?**

Vena has no limits and you can build anything yWhat I like best about Vena is how effectively it combines the flexibility and familiarity of Excel with strong controls, workflow, and data integrity. It allows finance teams to maintain Excel-based models while adding version control, audit trails, approvals, and centralized data, which significantly improves collaboration and accuracy during budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. The tight integration with financial systems also helps ensure consistency between actuals and plans, reducing manual work and reconciliation effort.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

One of the main drawbacks of Vena is that, because it is heavily Excel‑based, performance can slow down with very large models or complex workbooks, especially during peak budgeting cycles. There can also be a learning curve for non‑finance users, as success in Vena still depends on solid Excel skills and understanding of the underlying model structure. Additionally, making structural changes (such as redesigning models or hierarchies) can require more setup time and coordination than more rigid, form‑based planning tools.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena is solving several core planning and coordination challenges that finance teams typically face, and that has delivered clear, day‑to‑day benefits for us.
First, it significantly streamlines budgeting and forecasting cycles. We can run multiple iterations of the budget or forecast in a very short period of time, allowing us to quickly model different scenarios, respond to leadership questions, and incorporate new assumptions without starting from scratch each time. Everything lives in one centralized platform, which eliminates version confusion and reduces time spent reconciling files.
Second, Vena greatly improves cross‑department collaboration. Different departments can work simultaneously within the same system, follow structured workflows, and submit their inputs through controlled processes. This creates better accountability, clearer ownership, and faster turnaround, while still allowing Finance to maintain oversight, consistency, and data integrity.
Third, Vena solves the disconnect between workforce planning and operating expense planning. By linking headcount, compensation, and workforce assumptions directly to OPEX budgets, we gain a much clearer view of the true cost drivers of the organization. This alignment improves forecast accuracy, enables more meaningful variance analysis, and supports more informed decision‑making around hiring and resource allocation.
Overall, Vena allows us to plan faster, collaborate better, and connect financial drivers in a way that supports both operational and strategic decision‑making.

 ### 2. Streamlined Reporting, Needs Improved Data Handling

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hudson N. | Financial Planning and Analysis Intern, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

With Vena, I like that it helps empower all the teams we work with. The team members can easily go in, get notified, and complete the tasks required without much hassle. It has definitely made the process much cleaner compared to our previous manual methods. As for reporting, Vena eliminates the need for manual updates, making the reporting process much quicker. I appreciate that Vena forces us to use the same templates for all teams, saving us a lot of time compared to when we used different templates for each team. The support from the Vena team was great during our setup, making the transition smooth despite our extensive data and dimensions.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

We sometimes have some hurdles when it comes to planning we’re data doesn’t save correctly

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena reduces manual planning work, streamlines communication, eliminates repeated template set up, empowers teams to perform tasks efficiently, and speeds up reporting updates.

 ### 3. Streamlined Data Analysis with Excel-Based Integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James W. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I like that Vena is Excel-based, which makes it easier for me to use and integrate with our current processes. It's becoming even easier to use with some of the new AI models and planning functions that are coming out. These features are helpful as they allow me to analyze our company's overall performance at a very detailed level and make quick decisions. Also, the initial setup was great because the Vena team did most of the implementation for us.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

It's important to make sure the data is set up properly before it gets into Vena. If there was some way AI could help us manage our data and ensure it's classified properly, it would probably speed up the whole process. I could've used more help with training on how to use Vena, set up templates, and do mapping.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes it easy to take all of our data and put it into a template for analysis and action.

 ### 4. Vena’s Excel-Native Platform That Unifies Planning, Consolidation, and Reporting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike Z. | Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

What stands out most about Vena is how effectively it bridges finance and operations without forcing teams to abandon the tools they already trust. The native Excel interface drives immediate adoption, but underneath that familiarity is a highly structured, governed platform that delivers enterprise-grade planning, consolidation, and reporting.
Vena excels at turning what are typically fragmented processes into a single, connected workflow. Budgeting, forecasting, and reporting are no longer siloed—they’re integrated, auditable, and aligned to real business drivers. The ability to connect financial outcomes directly to operational inputs creates a level of transparency and accountability that most organizations struggle to achieve.
From a scalability standpoint, it handles complexity extremely well—multi-entity, multi-currency, and evolving organizational structures—without breaking usability. At the same time, the workflow, audit trail, and data governance capabilities ensure finance teams can operate with confidence and control.
What really differentiates Vena, though, is its flexibility. It adapts to how a business actually runs, rather than forcing a rigid model. Combined with strong integration capabilities and a clear roadmap around operational planning, it becomes more than just an FP&A tool—it becomes a core system for how the business plans and executes.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

There are no parts of Vena I dislike. Its extremely flexible and can accommodate any scenario our business might come across.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena solves one of the biggest challenges in finance: disconnected planning, manual processes, and lack of visibility across the business.

Before Vena, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting were spread across spreadsheets, emails, and multiple systems. That created version control issues, limited transparency, and a heavy reliance on manual consolidation. It also made it difficult to connect financial outcomes to the actual drivers of the business.

With Vena, everything is centralized and governed. Planning, reporting, and workflows are all in one platform, with a full audit trail and clear ownership. We’ve been able to automate consolidations, eliminate manual data entry, and significantly reduce cycle times.

The biggest benefit is visibility and alignment. Finance is no longer operating in a silo—we can tie budgets and forecasts directly to operational drivers and track performance in real time. That means faster, more informed decisions and a much higher level of accountability across the organization.

Ultimately, Vena has helped us move from reactive reporting to proactive, driver-based planning, which has had a measurable impact on both efficiency and decision-making.

 ### 5. Highly Effective Budgeting Solution with Minor Mac Compatibility Issues

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jade G. | Accounting Specialist, Accounting, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I love the ease of use of Vena. It's user-friendly, and we're able to see things in a very specific view, which is really helpful. For example, when we're working on our budget to actuals report, being able to pull out the information from Vena has been extremely helpful. I also appreciate being able to see what's going on throughout the budgeting process, from the beginning of the year to the end, and how Vena allows us to dissect details for our reports. This high visibility across departments and projects is something I find really valuable.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

Since I'm currently working on a MacBook, I have experienced some issues with Vena regarding opening certain files or reporting because it's not necessarily compatible with MacBook. That's probably the biggest issue that I've had, but we are working through that. So that's probably the biggest issue is just opening certain files in a MacBook compared to PC. Initially, it was definitely a process. It was just definitely configuring kind of what will work for our company. So there were some issues there, but obviously, building out exactly what we needed happened and then also we're looking at ways to improve what we have now as well.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Vena for budgeting across all departments, which helps us analyze data in one place and provides high visibility. The ease of use and user-friendly interface allow us to pull detailed budget-to-actuals reports effortlessly.

 ### 6. If you can imagine it, Vena can deliver it.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christine H. | Controller, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Vena?**

Vena is user friendly and easy to use for the non technical person. Vena allows my imagination to run wild and then delivers, not only account reconciliations, budgets, fp&a! Vena has become a point of sale translator. If you can imagine it, you can use Vena to deliver it. The team at Vena is engaging. They check up on how things are going.
Vena takes a very different approach with customers. Their team is engaging with customers and truly care about your success not just as a customer but as a person.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

I would love to have Vena directly connected to our ERP (GP on Prem) for realtime access.

**Recommendations to others considering Vena:**

Vena can bend to meet your needs instead of you having to bend to fit the mold of other software solutions.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena is a one stop shop for accounting and finance. We have been able to expand our business model with no additional head count. We have been able to produce reports faster with built in checks and balances for accuracy.
We have found that Vena can provide us so many ways to do what we have been doing manually. They truly have thought of everything in the accounting and finance department.

 ### 7. Vena is my favorite. My colleagues are sick of me saying the word Vena

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephanie C. | Global Head of Finance Systems & Financial Controller North America, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Vena?**

Vena's biggest strength is that it meets finance teams where they already work. The Excel front end means cost center owners, FP&A, and accounting can all contribute without learning a new tool, while the database behind it delivers the structure, auditability, and version control that spreadsheets alone never could. I use Vena across consolidation, planning, workforce, and balance sheet modeling, all running on the same dimensional model. Template consolidation that used to take days of chasing versions now takes minutes. The API layer has also let us integrate Vena into our month-end close process, which has been a real operational win. It's rare to find a platform that's this approachable for end users and this powerful for admins at the same time.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

One real friction point: scratch pads don't carry over when you copy a process. The scratch pad is unique to the specific process you're working in and should stay with the file, but copying a process wipes it out. For admins who use scratch pads as a working layer for logic, notes, or staging calculations, losing that content on copy means rebuilding work that should have followed the process forward.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena is helping us with forecasting template managment, data accuracty and validation, ease of reporting, and much more.

 ### 8. Seamless Financial Reporting with Excel Compatibility

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Clif H.

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I like how Vena allows my team to navigate away from manually taking data from various Excel workbooks for budgeting and financial reporting while retaining the familiar Excel functionality. The ability to utilize data from multiple sources while maintaining the same Excel functionality is a big plus for me. I appreciate being able to bring in individuals from different departments to collaborate on the budgeting process and the ability to limit their view to only the sections that pertain to them. This creates better efficiency and is auditable, which helps strengthen controls.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

Based on my company’s GL structure, I would like to be able to create my hierarchy at the fully qualified account level but still be able to create reports that only show the 6 digit account number vs showing the 15 digit FQID. Our GL was set up to allow us to use our Branch and Cost Center, and GL accounts to report in, which allows us to minimize the amount of GL accounts we have to create. However, in implementing Vena, we had to create many new 6 digit GL accounts to accommodate how our hierarchy was being set up.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena lets us move away from manual data gathering across Excel workbooks for budgeting and reporting, while enjoying familiar Excel functionality. It boosts efficiency, allows department-specific collaboration, and enhances controls.

 ### 9. Effortless Reporting with Customizable Features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander O. | Senior Payroll Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I like Vena's adaptability. There are a lot of unique ways to display and arrange data, making it very personalized to our company. It allows us to make things presentable in the ways that senior leadership wants. It's not just useful for reporting; we can also use it to create workbooks to calculate different forecasts and show report packages. Additionally, it saves a huge amount of time by automating the pulling of information and collaborating with management to get their forecasts. At the end of the day, we have a product that works really well for what we need.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

Organizing the model has become a bit cumbersome with some of the measures and dimensions as we've built and changed stuff. I feel like Vena's support could be more helpful in finding some of our inefficiencies. Also, the initial setup was a bit of a struggle. It took a lot longer than we anticipated and required more effort from our side than we were prepared for.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena allows us to collaborate with management for forecasts, saves a huge amount of time in pulling information, and automates how we bring that data into spreadsheets, enabling creativity with our data handling.

 ### 10. Native Excel & Stellar Service, With Room for Setup Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Angela L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I like Vena's native Excel capability as it feels familiar and integrates well with my workflow. I appreciate that Vena is constantly evolving and improving, which keeps it relevant and useful. The customer service is great, making the experience smooth and supportive. Using Vena helps me make faster and more error-free decisions.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

Communication is difficult at times during implementation as to how data connection would happen and what we needed. They made it seem we could connect directly to our ERPs but we needed to route through a day lag API. It just took longer to implement. Technically not real-time data, one day old data. Challenging setup but inline with other product implementation and it’s partially due to our existing products that we’re integrating with.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Vena for data consolidation, financial modeling, and automation. It simplifies complex data structures, automates projections, and reduces time spent manually compiling data.

 ### 11. Streamlined Reporting with Collaborative Ease

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jane T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I like that Vena is Excel-based, making it easy to use and decipher. It's really helpful for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. I appreciate how it eliminates manual errors and streamlines the reporting process, which used to be very manual. Vena enhances collaboration with different departments. I also value the consolidation feature, which minimizes Excel chaos by providing one platform for multiple uses. The Vena team was very supportive during the setup, which made the process less stressful.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

I don't like that there's a day lag with uploads from our ERP system, which delays reporting. Also, I would prefer the ability to collapse multiple rows with a single click. It would be better to integrate with multiple ERP systems to allow for a direct connection with Vena to provide live data at all times.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena eliminates manual errors, streamlines our reporting process, and enhances collaboration with different departments.

 ### 12. Vena is a multi purpose software that really brings all of our financial data together in one place!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Renee D. | Senior Accountant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I use Vena daily in my work, and I find it very user-friendly. It has been a great help to both our Operations and Finance teams. We use it to house all of our month end excel sheets that we use for input and uploads that integrates with our Accounting software, as well as for our budget process, and all of our financial reporting on all levels. It was very easy to implement with our Operations team, and customer support was always there if we ran into problems. I value the fact that we have all of our reporting in one place.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

Honestly, I can't think of anything that I dislike about it.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The most crucial problem that Vena is solving for our organization is bringing our outside excel reports into Vena and having the ease of integrating it with our accounting software and it updating in real time.

 ### 13. Empowering Budgeting with User-Friendly Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristi S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I really appreciate how easy it is to set up new users and train them in Vena. The process of setting up user groups and running reports is also incredibly straightforward once everything is in place. This ease of setup is important because we have many different departments with specific needs, and Vena makes it easy to manage user access and categorization. Our implementation team was great, so the setup was seamless and quick, which was a big plus for us.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

I think building reports in Vena is a little bit difficult. That is something that we have struggled with. We did struggle with training in that particular aspect when we first started onboarding.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena helps us involve budget owners in the budgeting process, making it more granular and accurate. It's new for us since it used to be only accounting and finance handling it.

 ### 14. Seamless Budgeting Tool with User-Friendly Interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taína D. | Administrative Secretary, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I find Vena very user-friendly, which makes working with it easy. The Vena SMEs are easy to work with, and our end users who need reporting are always satisfied and impressed with the quality of our deliverables. Vena provides great SOPs and detailed step-by-step instructions on troubleshooting. There are also articles on upcoming features and ongoing system enhancements, which continuously enhance our workflow. The initial setup of Vena was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

I guess a status tracker for operational health. If there was an error in the ETL running or a download did not complete entirely, a red light on the top row (where the Manager, Modeler tabs are) would be a great indication of needing to look into the ETL history.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena helps with budgeting, data storage, and ERP streamlining. It solves intersectional mapping, data hierarchy, automated data refreshing, and ensures solid data integrity.

 ### 15. Streamlines FP&A with Centralized Collaboration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hemant V. | Administrative Specialist, Food & Beverages, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I love how Vena allows me to build detailed models and forecasts without the usual headaches of manual data wrangling or version control issues. I also like the centralized environment it creates. This centralized and governed platform is well connected with ERP systems, Excel, and other data sources, making financial forecasts and decisions more accurate, collaborative, and scalable. It helps streamline planning and analytics workflows with better control, auditability, and real-time collaboration. Plus, the rollout was smoother than expected.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

Being heavily based on data sources like Excel, it slows down significantly with complex models, large reports, and heavy usage.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Vena to build detailed models and forecasts without data wrangling or version control issues. It streamlines FP&A processes, centralizing data for accurate financial planning. Vena improves collaboration and control while integrating with Excel and ERP systems for real-time planning and analytics.

 ### 16. Customizable with Clean Reporting but Implementation Challenges

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luke M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I use Vena for reporting and planning, and I like how it delivers clean, consistent reporting with a nice look and feel. The budgeting at the GL level is solid, which adds value to my use of the software. I also appreciate the customization capabilities; you can tailor any report to suit your needs and preferences.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

Implementation by third parties is problematic. We got stuck with a bad third-party implementation that was over budget and didn’t deliver. The ERP connection took over 6 months to establish and the reports the consultants created were overly complex and had to be redone.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena provides clean, consistent reporting with a nice look and feel, and offers solid budgeting at the GL level. I like the customization; you can make any report do what you want it to and look a certain way.

 ### 17. Efficient Data Centralization, Minimal IT Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** jordan i. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I use Vena for reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, and I really appreciate its speed and the insights it provides. Vena centralizes data, which is a major advantage over juggling many Excel sheets. I like the ability to connect directly to Business Central and Fabric, which makes getting data much simpler by bypassing the ETL load. This direct connection makes it easier for everyone to access the data they need. Another aspect I really like is the minimal IT involvement required for the initial setup, which I consider a huge win.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

N/A

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena speeds up reporting, budgeting, and forecasting by providing insights and centralizing data. It allows direct connections to Business Central, making data access easier without the ETL load. Compared to Solver, it's more flexible and faster. Minimal IT involvement was needed for setup, a huge win.

 ### 18. Flexible Reporting, Familiar Interface, But Setup Challenges

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danielle R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I love how familiar Vena is to the team since they are accustomed to using Excel. I also love the friendliness and helpfulness of the Vena team and community. Additionally, the reporting templates allow for a lot of flexibility and customization.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

Vena couldn't accommodate our GL accounts being split across reporting lines based on branch or cost center, which required us to open a bunch of new GL accounts and reclass balances to make the reporting hierarchy work. The initial setup was quite challenging for our lean team. Also, our data wasn't fully ready during testing before going live, leading to a bumpy and delayed go-live, although that was partly on us due to staffing model as well.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena provides a single source of truth across different data sources, aiding in budgeting and reporting.

 ### 19. Streamlined Budgeting with Excel-Based Vena

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle B. | Budget Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I like that Vena is Excel-based. This made it easy for our business to adjust to a new way of forecasting since Excel is widely used by us. It speeds up data analysis by saving time in compiling forecast results, helping us get data back to the business more quickly. The initial setup of Vena was fairly easy, and the EMS plus team was very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

I use the Power BI connector a lot and wish that we were able to extract text values. Right now, text values extract to be zeroes, and we have different data fields in our model that would be nice to extract.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena gives us a singular place to update forecasts, avoiding the hassle of compiling files through segmented emails and saving time by speeding up data analysis.

 ### 20. Seamless Financial Consolidation with Vena

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lakshya B. | Financial Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I really value Vena's transparency, which makes it easier for us to analyze budget work versus actual results. The multi-entity consolidation feature has been a game changer for us, as we used to rely on Excel for these tasks. Now, everything is seamless. Vena enables us to convert currencies, perform calculations, and calculate critical metrics like EBITDA and net income gross profit, ensuring efficient financial consolidation. I appreciate that we're able to do actual versus variance reporting, which wasn't possible before. The ability Vena offers to adjust model structures easily, such as automatically mapping new GL accounts, is invaluable. I also found the implementation team to be very supportive, responding clearly to our questions, making the setup process smooth, and providing an experience I'm happy to rate nine out of ten.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

Sometimes I feel that if we have to make the changes, the process can be sometimes quite extensive. The sense that we have to go and do the mapping and change the things inside the model structure, which we are not accustomed to. And since we have an accounting and finance background, anything technical in there, like changes to the versioning model or the data model or the model structure, does not come naturally to us. So, if that could be improved, Vena will become unmatched.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena eases budget analysis with transparency, simplifies multi-entity consolidation, resolves financial consolidation headaches, allows currency conversion, calculates EBITDA, and facilitates actual vs. variance reporting, which we couldn't do before.

 ### 21. Streamlined Financial Planning with Vena

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Huy V. | Senior Financial Systems Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Vena?**

It helps us because it's faster to publish our financial statements than in our old system.

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I use Vena for financial mapping, and I find its customizability really valuable. The ad hoc report feature is used a lot in our company because you can create anything and add any fields. This flexibility was a key reason for switching from Planful, as we needed more customizable software for our investors. After the initial setup and learning phase, creating reports became quite easy.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

I think the way you can't refresh the balance sheet ending balance without doing it one month at a time.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena helps with financial mapping, allowing me to easily compare actuals to budget and revenue. Its customizability is a major plus, especially the ad hoc report tool that lets us create and add fields as needed.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena has taken what used to be a complicated Excel sheet for merging two ERP data sources and turned it into a well-structured data cube. Now we can dynamically connect the data and work with it through an easy-to-use template.

 ### 30. Vena is a very good financial reporting and budgeting software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heath B. | Manager of Finance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Vena?**

Vena has been great and has alot of features, but there are often data interruptions and updates that cause Vena not to work properly.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

There have been several instances where Vena will not work for us. Sometimes it is down for 20 minutes and sometimes it is down for multiple days without any way to access reports and templates. This has been the most frustrating part with using Vena.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena has allowed us to have more complex, customized reporting. We can easily set permissions and restrictions to provide appropriate access to users across the entire company. Vena has allowed us to provide the executive team more timely reporting and transparency.

I really like the Excel native interface that Vena features. It's intuitive and native for almost every finance professional. Almost every file and document finance deals with is in Excel and having the planning, budgeting, and reporting interface all easily interact with Excel is a big plus.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

We aren’t using all the vena features since we are a small team. Vena insights is a tool I would like to use more of, but I haven’t had the time to dive into the complexities.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Vena for organizing data into cubes, reporting to business leaders, and budgeting. It integrates easily with Excel, making it intuitive for finance work.

 ### 32. Highly Functional Yet Challenging to Master

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cody C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

I use Vena for ease of access and having all our data in one place, with mapping functionality allowing me to do a lot.

 ### 33. Vena - An Extremely Versatile Finance Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Choy C. | Manager of Planning and Analysis, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Vena?**

Vena centers its functionality around Excel, but all your data is securely stored in the cloud rather than within the spreadsheets themselves. Together with excel flags, there is potential to build reports that does exactly what you intend to show. The ability to dynamically expand within models, reports, and templates greatly simplifies the work for those responsible for maintaining them. The cascade feature of reports dynamically runs the report in slices without having to select the slices manually, saving a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

After using Vena for a few years, we have found that most of the challenges we face are related to template automation and ensuring that Mac users can effectively use the platform. We continue to discourage users to access Vena from Mac environment and strictly direct our users to access Vena from Windows environment. It works very well with MS Office, but does not have much integration for GSuite.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We began using Vena for our extensively detailed recurring revenue model. We have changed major stakeholders and Vena had kept up with the evolving changes requested by different managers. Some of the model changes are rather complex, so time and expert help is needed. The fact that the requested changes can be incorporated makes it a versatile tool. Excel alone cannot handle the complexity of our model. We have expanded our usage to Operating Expense planning and Workforce planning. Vena can handle vendor level forecasting and reporting, allowing insight and detail as to what the key drivers of spend are. Reports can be created with dynamic multidimensional mapping that expands effortlessly to show the slices of data you want to see. The cascade feature of reports allows for much time saved. Overall, Vena is a very powerful reporting tool with a lot of potential to do even more.

 ### 35. Streamlined Financial Planning with Centralized Control

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julian L.

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

I like that Vena keeps the flexibility of Excel while adding centralized data, version control, and structured workflows. The approvals and audit trails improve transparency, and it scales well as our planning needs grow. Vena helps centralize our planning process while still allowing teams to work in Excel, making adoption much easier across finance and non-finance stakeholders. It's especially useful for consolidating budgets across departments, managing rolling forecasts, and producing standardized management reports. The workflow and approval features improve accountability and reduce version-control issues, while the centralized database ensures everyone is working from the same set of numbers. Vena eliminates version-control issues and manual consolidation by centralizing data and automating planning workflows, which reduces errors, improves data integrity, and shortens budgeting and forecasting cycles. The structured workflows and approvals improve collaboration and accountability, helping planning cycles run faster and more smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

Some advanced features and configurations have a learning curve, and setup can take time to optimize. Performance can also slow with very large or complex models, so improvements in speed, UI responsiveness, and more out-of-the-box templates would be helpful.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Vena to centralize our planning process with Excel, solving version-control issues, reducing errors, and improving data integrity. It consolidates budgets, automates workflows, shortens cycles, and enhances collaboration and accountability with structured approvals and a centralized database.

 ### 36. Great product, steep learning curve for report building

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

What I like most about Vena is how it combines the flexibility of Excel with stronger controls, workflows, and integrations that help scale FP&A processes. It has improved our budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and scenario planning, while still letting teams work in a familiar environment. I also appreciate the direction Vena is heading in, especially with its AI-enabled reporting and analytics capabilities.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

What I like least is the steep learning curve, especially during the initial implementation and report-building phase. At first, setting up data models, hierarchies, and reports can feel complex and highly technical, and troubleshooting problems isn’t always intuitive. Although the platform’s flexibility is a major strength, it can sometimes come at the cost of simplicity and day-to-day ease of administration.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s our system of truth for financials and allows us to drill into the details.

Vena provides an efficient and reliable process for building budgets and makes it easy to build reports.

 ### 38. Automated Financials and Powerful Budgeting in Excel

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter P. | Controller, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Vena?**

The ability to have our financial statements automatically update each month is a huge improvement over our manual excel files. Vena's budgeting/forecasting capabilities are really strong and allows for creating multiple scenarios. Working with Vena is excel allows for all normal excel functionality. We really like the drill in capabilities to go from summary data to expand down to even the transactional level.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

In our experience, Vena's account reconciliation tool does not match the capabilities of some specialized reconciliation solutions. However, as a relatively affordable add-on, it adequately serves our requirements. Additionally, the ease of implementation largely depends on the amount of effort dedicated to data cleansing beforehand and having a clear understanding of predefined expectations.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vena has significantly decreased the time it takes us to close the books and prepare our month-end financial reports. It has also streamlined our budgeting process by minimizing the need to copy and paste data from different departmental templates. Additionally, we have been able to transfer reporting responsibilities from IT to the finance team, which has made creating and delivering reports faster and more transparent. Vena has also provided an excellent dashboard that gives senior leadership easy access to key data and metrics.

**Reviewed by:** John L. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 12, 2026

**What do you like best about Vena?**

The ease of drilling to transactions for non-technical users allows people to get to the “why” on their own when they typically would have come straight to me or controller for answers.

**What do you dislike about Vena?**

The way we have it configured it is not super flexible to handle how dynamic our company is. We regularly create new subsidiaries, change the chart of accounts, add new classes, etc and this doesn’t seem to be easy for Vena.

**What problems is Vena solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helped add a source of truth for financial packets when we were in need and had massive gaps in reporting capabilities.
