I really like the user interface and user experience of Vanta. It's very intuitive for me, the management team, as well as all our stakeholders, whether they are internal employees or any external firms we work with. I think specifically for the vulnerabilities that we had, there's room for improvement. Even though it's not completely a Vanta issue, it has to do with how we're triaging and prioritizing them. Often, we have labels for GitHub vulnerabilities like critical, high, medium, low. But at the end of the day, if we had any missed day, it just showed that we were not compliant. I feel like there could be some sort of variability there so that if someone is approaching the platform, they can see the degrees to the vulnerabilities or outstanding things. What I like most about Vanta is how straightforward it is to use, even for someone without a compliance background. The platform takes what could be a very complex process and makes it feel structured and manageable. The UI is clean and intuitive, so it’s easy to see what needs to be done, understand why it matters, and stay on track.

I also really appreciate the Slack integration. It makes it much easier to involve the team and keep compliance tasks moving forward without constantly having to chase people down. I don’t have any major complaints about Vanta from a product standpoint. If I had to point to something, it would be the cost. For smaller teams or early-stage companies, it can feel like a significant investment. That said, it does replace a lot of manual work and external consulting effort, so the value becomes clearer once you’re actively going through a compliance process. I appreciate Vanta's excellent UX and thoughtfully designed system for navigating audits and remediating failing tests. Automated emails from Vanta help me keep on top of my 'inbox' of security tasks, providing peace of mind during observation windows with our audit team. Updating PDF policies is a PITA and this has not been fully resolved; a more interactive template 'editor' that generated the PDF from source copy + a review history would be a major improvement. After undergoing a branding change, for example, I had to download each policy and update our logo and the revision history manually in Acrobat. It provides so many useful templates for policies, which is a huge time-saver. Vanta integrates with practically all of our vendors, such as AWS, ensuring that our configurations comply with audit requirements, which is crucial for me as an engineer. The Vanta Agent is super valuable for our Apple Mac devices, providing a lightweight MDM tool that we rely on. It's hard to come up with anything significant. Sometimes it takes quite long to get personal support via the chat, or we have to ask twice or thrice.
