UpGuard Pros and Cons

Upguard makes it easy and convient to manage TPRM. I have created multiple custom cyber security questionnaires all of which used programmable logic to make it more interactive. It is similar to no code programming, which is one of my favorite ways to build tools. I use frequently use Upguard to check our risk score and it makes it easy to compare it against competitiors. Upguard could implement more features to better allow for export of data into formats such as CSV. Additionally, Upguard should implement a feature that scans vendor websites for public email addresses, which would allow us to keep in conact when we are no longer able to contact the original contacts. Comprehensive Security Rating - the platform continuously scans vendors external attack surfaces and assigns risk scores, helps us quickly identify potential threats.

Seamless vendor risk management - The automated security questionnaires and vendor assessments make the process incredibly efficient.

User Friendly Interface - The dashboard- is intuitive and provides clear, actionable insights that make risk management straightforward.

the only improvement I can suggest is that some risk findings can feel really generic and we occasionally need to dig deeper to verify their impact. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The most helpful and valuable part of UpGuard to me is the Third-Party Risk Assessments via their Vendor Risk product.

This Vendor Risk portion of UpGuard has elevated our third-party assessment maturity within our large-scale company. The security questionnaires are easy to understand and implement. This is also supported by the help of the Questionnaire Library.

The Breach Risk Executive portfolio has been featured within our C-level and executive risk meetings and discussions.

Our team are continuing to embrace the new features that UpGuard can provide our company. We got to experience a productive UpGuard showcase about the upcoming features being introduced in 2025 from our account manager and support team at UpGuard. This was a pleasant and promising experience.

Our team use UpGuard on the daily when it comes to VIP protection via the Threat Intel and actioning the data breach notifications.

One point of concern that we had early on with UpGuard was that we felt their Data Leaks information was under-developed and relied heavily on haveibeenpwned.com.

The platform has a ton of useful features and is extremely responsive from a UI perspective. Assessing and managing vendor security risks is a very complex process and a very inexact science that varies company to company and industry to industry. UpGuard helps simplify the process as much as possible. The available questionnaire templates are a very useful starting point and the ability to customize them is great. The templates sharing the underlying risk of each question/topic is great for really quantifying how a risk might impact our organization. The automated scanning scores are also a helpful input to an overall assessment. Our customer success team is extremely responsive to our questions and we meet regularly. The platform continues to improve with new features seemingly every quarter and we use these new features to find ways to enhance our current vendor management process. The biggest issue for us has been the inability to perform a one-off risk assessment of a vendor (a vendor we don't plan to "monitor" continuously) without using up a vendor license. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

In my particular case where I manage a small security team, I have the opportunity to have a centralized view of risks and security posture of my suppliers, being able to execute quick actions when necessary without the need to go into lengthy investigations. In some cases the alerts tend to be false positives or mentioning non-existent users on our platform, I think this could be solved more accurately with some integration to the active directory. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Its a good and easy solution to use when it comes to third party risk management. Its very easy to implement its on cloud and not on-prem. Users can easy import their excel questionnaire and create there own custom questionnaire to start or use the inbuild one. It would be nice if there can be some integration available specially with different types of ticketing tools. Some more features like analysis of SOC report with AI would be a nice feature Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

UpGuard's VRM solution is a truly perfect and seamless product. employee data breaches on the external surface, a security rating that covers networks, websites, email, DNS, phishing & malware and brand reputation. This solution is a SaaS product so any organization's vulnerability related data is exposed to the dark web. Additionally, the network security is exposed to vulnerable ports 161, 179, even if CERT-in indicates that these ports are not vulnerable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Breach risk is a recommendable feature which offers many sections, including Remediations, Risk waivers, Risk profile which makes it easy to manage and address vulnerabilities with ease.
