## About Twingate
Twingate is a secure remote access solution for an organization’s private applications, data, and environments, whether they are on-premise or in the cloud. Built to make the lives of DevOps teams, IT/infrastructure teams, and end users easier, it replaces outdated business VPNs which were not built to handle a world in which "work from anywhere" and cloud-based assets are increasingly the norm. Twingate’s modern zero trust-based approach to securing remote access focuses on improving security, while not compromising on usability and maintainability. Twingate distinguishes itself from other solutions in the following ways: - Software-only solution can be deployed alongside existing solutions in minutes, without requiring changes to existing infrastructure. - Enables least privilege access at the application level without requiring networks to be re-architected. - Centralized admin console, coupled with extensive logging capabilities, provides control and visibility over an enterprise’s entire network. - Scales up to support more users and resources without burdening IT teams with network segmentation projects or buying new hardware. - Client agents can be set up by users without IT support, are always on, and do not require user interaction once enabled. - User internet connectivity is improved due to split tunneling, no backhauling, and an intelligent client agent that handles authorization and routing activities on device.

## Twingate Reviews
  ### 1. Finally, a VPN following the zero trust model

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

I like the ease of use, flexibility in configuration, and the design itself - very innovative.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

I don't see any downsides; however, the security of the company is paramount. I can't imagine what a breach could do to the customers.

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

Make sure to plan a good location for the VPN connectors to be used for as many internal resources you need to expose as possible.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access to various internal and external resources without poking firewall holes or implementing allowlists.

  ### 2. Excellent, better than a VPN any day!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

We originally tried VPN providers but we found our ISP (Virgin Media) was constantly throttling our download. With Twingate we do not experience any throttling.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

The connector requires upgrading frequently, which is a little annoying!

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have moved to a completely remote working environment and could no longer rely on our office IP address to restrict access to our applications. By connecting to Twingate we can still control access to our application through an accepted list of IP addresses.

  ### 3. Best VPN/Tunnelling Software in market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Soumyajit D. | S, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate only tunnels the traffic which is needed to go via the private network and rest all goes as it is. It doesnt throttle or route your whole network like other providers

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

As of now I feel theres only one issue and thats sometimes twingate automatically disconnects and we have to exit the application and reconnect . Might be a minor issue

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are protecting our internal resources and sharing access tos pecific org or individuals with twingate .

  ### 4. Great product and service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Setup is super easy and it's reliable and so fun to use.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

I'd be happy to see more analytics capabilities and alerts on our usage. Though I know it's a feature in progress so worth the wait. They are delivering on their promises and moving fast through new features.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the need to manage VPN services and users myself. Solved all the issues we had with bad connections from clients.

  ### 5. I tried a bunch. This is the best.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

- Simple for staff to setup on iOS, Android and Web
- Only corporate traffic goes through it
- Good pricing model

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

- Would prefer if their connector AWS AMIs were CIS level 2 out of the box. Hopefully coming soon.
- Would prefer if their connector AWS AMIs were aach64. Hopefully coming soon.

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

Give it a try. It is better than whatever you are using.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A much better mousetrap. Better user/group/resource management.

  ### 6. Up and coming major player into the Zero Trust VPN space

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tan D. | Director of Cloud Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Pango is in the security space. We are always on the lookout for innovative ways to improve our security posture. The zero trust product by Twingate fits that bill perfectly. It allows us to setup specific, individualized access control for every employee in our organization for all products and services. It was very easy to setup and configure. It literally took us one day to get everyone in the organization on Twingate. Because it is in the cloud, it is always on and we will never have to worry about our employees worldwide being down due to the office network/infrastructure being down. This is especially important nowadays in light of the environment created by Covid-19. We have left the past (VPN) behind us, and will be continuing to be a long time customer of Twingate.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

There are still improvements that need be done in the software such as audit logs, granular access control, and inspection capabilities, but the team has been very responsive and working to make the software more enterprise ready. I am looking forward to all the new features in the pipeline.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our biggest problems are deployment of VPN to our users and better security on an employee by employee basis. Twingate's UI was easy to use and setup. It took us less than a minute per user. Also, employees' adoption to Twingate was a very smooth ride.

  ### 7. Everything promised and more

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate is incredibly easy to use and manage. We were set up and going in about a day. Alleviates a lot of risks and with our growing remote workforce, the performance is amazing. SSO setup was easy and the policies we can attach to different network segments makes this product really attractive and definitely recommend. Everyone we have met at Twingate has been amazing.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

The only thing was the lack of Arch linux support when we started but the team worked with us to bring support for this very quickly

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can say we are leveraging a zero trust network access solution, which with all the reports from NIST and standard bodies is what they are recommending to move to, so we feel like with the help of Twingate are ahead of the curve

  ### 8. It just works!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick L. | VP of Revenue and Technical Accounting, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

We rolled out Twingate to replace our old Corporate VPN and there is no going back. As a user on the finance team, Twingate allows me to connect to all of my needed applications, and was super easy to set-up and use. There's no logging in and out, figuring out if you're connected or not... you log-in once and it just works! Best of all, it's faster than our previous solution allowing me to get my work done from anywhere.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

I can't think of any dislikes right now. Since we rolled it out, I've never had any issues with the product or with connecting to the service to access my needed applications

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Connecting to all of our needed applications from anywhere in the world

  ### 9. it made our implementation of secure connection much easier

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

the fact that id does not interfere with other none-intended connections (like other domains, other ports, etc)

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

it has some issues with docker containers since those containers are running inside their own network

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

making secure connection to our internal services and databases

  ### 10. Lead, Cloud Security

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

I would say the APIs for user management.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are creating a secure channel to access our dev environment.

  ### 12. Quick, easy and simple way to deploy a VPN/Zero Trust.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

How quick and easy it is to deploy when we have updated networks.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

The fact it doesn't fully support determining the device stature.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing my employees to connect to infrastructure resources that are on private networks. It replaced our old fashioned VPN.

  ### 13. Very easy to setup, low upkeep, and low cost compared to VPN solutions.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

It was very easy to set up and get running to secure my VPS as the main firewall solution.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Needing two bastion insurance for zero down time is slightly inconvenient but not enough to matter

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Firewall, authentication, VPS security

  ### 14. Finally a VPN that just works

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erin R. | Senior Data Analyst, Product & Strategy, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

- Speed of connection!!
- Reliable
- Easy set-up

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

No major concerns, but user interface is limited. I'd suggest this be built out for a more straightforward user experience.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Historically, the corporate VPNs I've used have been extremely slow and unreliable. This would lead to frequent calls to the tech support team when I just wanted to get my work done. Since my company switched to Twingate, all my previous VPN issues have been resolved. I can't even remember the last time I called the tech support team. A sincere thank you for building such a high quality product from me (and the IT department.)

  ### 15. This is how remote connectivity is supposed to work

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Some people just don't understand that it is not a vpn.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Remote access into a network based on proper network level controls

  ### 16. East to use and very fast!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Very easy to use the software, from connecting to it and having it run in the background. It's so fast I even forget that it's running

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Having to manually update the connectors

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

Would highly recommend

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Connecting to a remote server in the office. It makes working from home a breeze

  ### 17. Twingate is a major improvement over our previous VPN solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jordan B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate allowed us to very easily move to a model of zero-trust networking and drop our previous OpenVPN-based solution entirely. We have now removed all instances in our private network with public IP addresses and our attack surface has been greatly reduced.

Setting it up was as simple as running their Docker image in all of the private networks that we want to allow restricted access to.

We quickly configured multiple different user groups within the Twingate admin panel and were able to restrict access to a subset of resources within each of our networks, per-group. For example, we created a "Business Analyst" group that only had access to our data warehouse, and a "Data Engineer" group that had access to the data warehouse and a couple of other resources to support that system. This level of granularity would have been much harder to accomplish using a tool like OpenVPN.

Installation of the Twingate was incredibly simple - the client is easily downloaded and configured for Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Authentication is linked to our GSuite account. This means we no longer have to create new VPN users when we onboard an employee, and it also means that access is immediately revoked when an employee leaves the organization is removed from GSuite.

There are still some features we haven't taken advantage of, like adding MFA when SSHing into a production instance, but we look forward to exploring these features as we build out the integration further.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

One downside of Twingate is that the upfront cost is expensive than our previous solution (OpenVPN). However, with OpenVPN, we were running it ourselves on our 2 EC2 instances and had to manage and maintain those servers. Despite the higher upfront cost, we decided to switch to Twingate anyway because we felt like we were getting a lot more value.

Another downside is that we're now trusting another company with an incredibly important part of our infrastructure. If Twingate goes down, employees won't be able to access resources in our private networks. This is a risk we're willing to take, and we know that Twingate takes it seriously as well.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twingate has allowed us to very quickly give employees access to remote, private resources, and secure those resources based on different access-levels within our organization.

Since setting it up, we've saved time with each new onboarded employee, and have decreased the overall access each employee has to different parts of our infrastructure.

  ### 18. We dropped our corporate VPN for Twingate and there is no going back!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tanuj C. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

We switched from corporate VPN to Twingate in 24hrs for our 300 people organization across 3 continents. So ease of deployment is definitely way up there. We kept the VPN as a backup for a while in case there were access issues but never had to use it (reliability - check!). Our international teams had much faster access to AWS and other cloud resources as the access didn't have to go through a single corporate choke point (speed!). Unlike VPNs there is no public attack surface (Security)

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

- Would love access control at the port level
- Would like to see better visualization/analytics in the dashboard

I hear those enhancements are in the future releases.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Eliminates public attack surfaces
- Granular least-privilege access
- Easy to deploy & manage
- Fast and Reliable

  ### 19. Zero trust framework companies can actually implement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amit R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

As an IT team, we need to be able to satisfy the ease of use requirement, even for remote access security solutions. Through their lightweight client, Twingate has accomplished delivering on a seamless user experience without the traditional headaches involved with legacy VPN solutions. Their one-click connection to the network is easy yet provides secure, encrypted access to our most valuable corporate resources.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

I’d like to see more full tunnel capabilities but the Twingate team is working on this as we speak. Their split tunnel architecture ensures top notch performance (even when connecting to a video call) and so their focus on performance while delivering full tunnel capabilities will be great to experience.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deployment of security tools is difficult for IT teams to manage, but Twingate’s focus on easy end user adoption has made securing corporate resources an easy change management exercise. We can sleep easy at night knowing that we’ve adopted a least-privileged access model without the headache of end user complaints

  ### 20. Seamless user experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raja S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate is fast, simple, easy to use and always runs in the background without me noticing. It is so much better than the previous VPN my company made me use. The user experience is truly seamless.

I also like the fact that it’s really easy to connect and doesn’t really slow anything down. Previous VPNs I’ve used always slow things down and I would always disconnect frequently. With Twingate I can keep it always on and it’s fast and doesn’t require me to constantly connect and disconnect.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Nothing really because Twingate gives me access to the applications I need access to. One thing is that I’m curious if they will be releasing more features. It seems to solve the secure access use case really well but I’d like to see more product features over time.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twingate gives me access to applications like Tableau while I am working remotely. It’s an awesome tool for remote work because it integrates with Okta and it works seamlessly. From a benefits standpoint I think the most tangible benefit is speed as it saves me time to get access to applications like Tableau and now that everyone is working from home, time is precious and I am grateful for Twingate.

  ### 21. Finally good and easy to use VPN solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Max G. | Site Reliability Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Absolutely loving them for Google Login and super simple client. For small companies when you don't have SSO, and don't want to manage separate vpn users, its a must have.
Also it was super easy to deploy and start using them

They also have good api, so you can manage resources with automation

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Nothing comes in mind so far. We started with them pretty early, documentation on that time wasn't as polished as it is now, but Twingate team was very helpful, so everything went smoothly

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access to private AWS infrastructure (including private EKS) for a small development team from different countries.

  ### 22. Easy access management for cloud resources, better security than VPN or IP allow lists

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maksim P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Access management for our AWS resources is now much easier via Twingate’s web admin dashboard. Before that, my teams were constantly wrestling with getting our users on VPN or maintaining everyone’s home IP addresses in an allow list. Glad to be using the latest and greatest for our WFH teams!

2FA via Google Login or OKTA.

Easy to onboard external team members (contractors, partners, clients, etc).

Was easily approved by my partner security teams to use alongside their VPN client with no conflicts.

Zero-trust Security - a must have capability these days!

You pay for for User, not Client or Resources - easy to roll out to all devices used by your users.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

The Linux client was only recently released, so it took a while for my entire engineering team to get on-boarded. Twingate’s customer support has been great, and they expedited Linux support based on our feedback.

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

Explore Enterprise Pricing Options with their team

You pay for for User, not Client or Resources - easy to roll out to all devices used by your users.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access management for cloud-based resources.
Better security.
No more hassle of maintaining IP allow lists for WFH / remote teams. Some people had their IPs change once a day, this solved a major hassle for our SRE team.

  ### 23. It isn't often that a new architecture comes along that makes as much sense as Twingate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Simplicity of the policy model is the strength. Simply define the provider and consumer and you are done. Also the architecture of having a controller distributing the dataplane to relays is clearly an advantage. The zero trust model of restricting uses to certain resources via a dynamic ACL is also a clear advantage vs a traditional VPN.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Would be could to build some cloud formation templates for quick and easy deployment on AWS. Or maybe Terraform.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Right now I am experimenting with remote access to my home network. Resources are NAS, home security, and some lab servers.

  ### 24. Made my WFH so much easier, and excellent customer support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vaibhav M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate made it super easy for me to connect to Tableau dashboards, and staging environments.
Was easy to install, faster to use than our old VPN, and doesn't require me to hassle with IP whitelisting across all my devices (home WiFi, mobile device LTE etc.) any more!

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

I did get stuck while installing Twingate on my Windows laptop, but the support team was quick to jump in and help and I was ready-to-go within a couple of hours.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simplifying access to staging environments, internal dashboards, and improving security using two-factor authentication to access all our company's cloud resources

  ### 25. So much easier to manage than a VPN

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate has saved me a lot of time. It was so much quicker to roll out than our VPN. Adding new assets and assigning permissions to users is super easy, and I don’t have to worry about re-architecting our network to do that. It makes setting up access simpler, and I also don’t need to spend time maintaining VPN servers and keeping them updated and patched. Doing less admin work and becoming more secure is a pretty good outcome!

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

No major dislikes. The audit logging functionality is useful and has a lot of potential, but it’s still in an early stage of development

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

Yes definitely

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Manage access to our IT assets in a more efficient way (without sacrificing security) so I can free up more time for other projects.

  ### 26. Super easy to setup and manage access

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Setup speed
Admin management
Visibility
Access

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

I'd like to see a more detailed dashboard

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secure access for remote and inhouse employees and contractors
