## About Twingate
Twingate is a secure remote access solution for an organization’s private applications, data, and environments, whether they are on-premise or in the cloud. Built to make the lives of DevOps teams, IT/infrastructure teams, and end users easier, it replaces outdated business VPNs which were not built to handle a world in which "work from anywhere" and cloud-based assets are increasingly the norm. Twingate’s modern zero trust-based approach to securing remote access focuses on improving security, while not compromising on usability and maintainability. Twingate distinguishes itself from other solutions in the following ways: - Software-only solution can be deployed alongside existing solutions in minutes, without requiring changes to existing infrastructure. - Enables least privilege access at the application level without requiring networks to be re-architected. - Centralized admin console, coupled with extensive logging capabilities, provides control and visibility over an enterprise’s entire network. - Scales up to support more users and resources without burdening IT teams with network segmentation projects or buying new hardware. - Client agents can be set up by users without IT support, are always on, and do not require user interaction once enabled. - User internet connectivity is improved due to split tunneling, no backhauling, and an intelligent client agent that handles authorization and routing activities on device.

## Twingate Reviews
 ### 1. Seamless, Scalable ZTNA with Granular Access Controls

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vivek S. | Information Technology Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate provides a seamless and secure Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution that eliminates the need for traditional VPNs. The deployment is straightforward, and the cloud-native architecture makes it easy to scale without complex infrastructure changes. I particularly appreciate the granular access controls, which allow us to enforce least-privilege access effectively.

From a security standpoint, it enhances visibility and control over user access, helping strengthen our overall security posture. The integration with identity providers is smooth, and the user experience is excellent, end users can securely access resources without performance issues typically associated with VPNs.

Additionally, Twingate simplifies access management for both internal and external users, making it a reliable solution for modern distributed environments.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

One area for improvement is the logging and traffic monitoring UI. Currently, there is a lack of advanced search and filtering capabilities, which makes it difficult to quickly drill down into specific user activities or investigate incidents.

The interface could benefit from more intuitive navigation, along with robust filters (such as by user, resource, time range, and action) to simplify log analysis. Additionally, enhanced visibility into traffic patterns and more detailed audit logs would greatly improve the overall monitoring and troubleshooting experience.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

VPN with secure Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA)

 ### 2. Fast, Reliable Connectivity with Easy MFA Integration and Strong Security

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elman M. | Team Lead, Outsourcing/Offshoring, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Its has a very fast connectivity, very reliable, connects well with any internet service provider, it was easy to implement, has a good customer support, it was easy to integrate with our MFAs. Highly secure. Interface its easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

There is not much to dislike about Twingate, however, once updated it might take a while to get use to the new upgrade, in the past we had to uninstall and install again for the VPN to start working properly.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Online security, protect our tools, and all of our softwares.

 ### 3. A useful utility to manage private connectivity.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard Q. | Infrastructure Team Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Migrating from a bastion server with SSH keys, trying to keep all of those in place and uptodate was cumbersome.

Using Terraform to manage Twingate users, groups, service accounts, tokens, connectors, and resources fits into the "Infrastructure as Code" paradigm nearly perfectly.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

There is a "click-ops" of policy management. It would be nice to have them also managed via Terraform.
It would also be nice to have MFA at the resource level. Depending upon workflow, the simple friction point of needing to authenticate can be enough to block a bad thing. Currently, even if the resources were in separate groups, each with the MFA enabled, if as soon as you have authenticated, all resources in all groups that require authentication are now accessible. I believe there is a plan to go with per-group authentication.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Moving from a single Bastion server running SSH, using IaC, was cumbersome. Twingate significantly simplifies that, but also allows us to now use external pipelines to access the resources in a sensible manner using service accounts, as well as exposing private endpoints to the appropriate members in a secure fashion.

 ### 4. Fast, simple and modern

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andre B. | Lead SRE, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

The best part in Twingate is the simple admin experience. After add the Gateway to infrastructure it's easy to add resources and manage policies. This is very useful when you have to manage a large number of resources, what is our case. Also, onboard internal users is so easy with Twingate client, we collected a lot of great feedbacks about the client app for all OS.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

No dislikes about Twingate. Maybe the pricing would be a problem if the number of seats are so high.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have multiple private cloud environments, with microservices and internal tools. Using Twingate we can control the acesses and ensure that only allowed people can access resources.

 ### 5. Effortless Group Management and Easy Implementation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** MIguel Z. | Director of Infrastructure, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Our team really appreciates the ability to create groups and manage team resources through them. We also find it very easy to implement.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Managing temporary access for external users can sometimes be challenging.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For our team, it assists in monitoring usage on our internal website and supports our efforts to achieve SOC2 and HIPAA compliance.

 ### 6. Twingate is an awesome software with drawbacks when it comes to Enterprise management & deployment.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate is an awesome "VPN" replacement software with an easy to use interface, easy end user setup, and top-notch security for split/full tunnel access.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

I hate to be "that guy" but I am here writing this review so hopefully someone at Twingate addresses some of the concerns and drawbacks I have with their product.

Twingate is outrageously horrible to configure and deploy across most MDMs such as NinjaRMM, Intune, and Jamf Pro. This is not limited to one OS its the same across macOS & Windows.

When it comes to installing the software "willy nilly" with nothing silent or configured for the end user it operates fine. When it comes to deploying it with those settings such as the root cert for next dns, machine key, silent install, configurations for the application such as launch agent on macOS, etc. it really has problems.

macOS is mainly where this product needs attention for deployment. It constantly has updating issues, dual instances, and orphaned system extensions. The Twingate team is well aware that the product falls short when it comes to Enterprise deployment and management.

I find a majority of issues lie within the documentation itself I had to "pry" proper deployment documentation for Jamf that works out of one of their leads for macOS. They need to heavily invest in updating deployment documentation across all MDMs they support and OS's they support.

I find a lot of the enterprise deployment "strategies" they recommend are very piece-meal and thrown together like a half-finished puzzle in which you the admin are left to "figure out". Their solution for deploying all items related to Twingate on Windows is one massive PowerShell script, which I am not opposed too if it worked and was easily manipulatable. I will give them props for a solid uninstall script on Windows though that works well when troubleshooting it.

Twingate falls flat on the macOS side mainly - the inability to troubleshoot the product with an easy to use uninstall script is what is really lacking here. macOS needs a proper uninstall script from Twingate that won't leave orphaned system extensions without a device restart -Windows does not have this issue.

From a product standpoint are you considering Twingate for home use or a small outfit - its going to work great. When it comes to large scale deployment, configuration, and management it really falls short.

DNS management and integration with NextDNS has a ton of growing to do - the GUI for an admin is confusing and could have more options. Seems like a ton of stuff is missing that you would expect from a DNSFiltering dashboard.

I could keep going but I have already ranted enough. I would avoid Twingate until it is more mature for larger enterprises. They need to invest resources into the product admin dashboard, dns integrations, and work with more MDMs to understand how their product is being used by admins and end users as far as usability and deployment goes.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twingate did not really "solve" anything for us it just made it easier for end users to more to a more modern "VPN" solution than use the legacy WatchGuard one we were. I think the security team enjoys the fact that the resources are easily manageable based on permissions and groups.

 ### 7. Very Versatile VPN Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy F. | Technology Support Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate is highly versatile, stable and secure vpn. Since it is opened to be programed by api's and scripts, a lot of people have probably already done the work for you if you need a custom setup. My use case is for cameras in multiple physical locations. I was able to setup a linux server that routes all the vpn traffic so I didn't even need to install the software to the camera server. Plus alias feature really makes adding multiple resources across multiple networks with the same ip schemes actually possible. There are a lot of good things to say about this product, I can't list them all.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

The only bad thing I can say about twingate is the high barrier to entry for support. I was able to get all the help I needed through the subreddit, the developers are very attentive there. However, sometimes it's hard to convince a finance or corporate team to purchase a product without some degree of support. A low cost per use support contract option would be nice to have. This is a minor gripe because again, they are very helpful on the subreddit.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a local camera server and want to access cameras across multiple sites. To do this is normally a proprietary solution involving a lot of licensing and typically vendor lock-in. Plus, I have multiple camera brands across the board so there would be replacement costs. Not to mention the proprietary systems all use cloud storage, where the costs for comparable storage to my server is astronomical. Compare this Twingate which I can access any site I want, plus if I change to a different camera system, it will work for it. Even the hardware I've purchased is reuseable as it runs on any linux device.

 ### 8. Easy, Secure, and Scalable – Twingate

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** amit y. | DevOps / DevSecOps, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

It help us make the non production env secure and accessible for developers.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Connector updates are less frequent and need manual effort. Instead I just created the existing connector.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Initially we were looking for VPN solution but after some research found that ZTNA is best option and Twingate best filts the requirements.
We were using jumphosts (bastian) to access private resources but it was not easy to to SSH tunneling for everyone, specialy for non tech persons.

Twingate provide easy to use platform that allows to create gropup of individuals and network and then manage these access .

 ### 9. Straight forward VPN replacemt wiht split-tunnel first approach.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aleksejs K. | Lead System Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

There is no need to configure clients with specific credentials for users.
Ability to use DNS-based routing.
Terrafrom support.
Ease of troubleshooting thanks to reporting and "recent activity".
Google Workspace integration
Sleek adminitstartration portal.
Very security-conscious approach to configuring resources down protocol and port and time-based restrictions.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

We have Arch Linux users and a lack of an official package in the Arch repository is a downside for them as it requires them to write custom scripts.
The administration portal is nice, but the lack of bulk creation of resources and bulk editing makes the onboarding process a little more tedious.
Sometimes providing access to specific users, not the group, is more convenient. The current approach forces us to create a group for every user which requires particular access.
We have shared testing phone devices for our QA team ideally it would be more secure to be able to avoid using personal account on them and instead use some machine login.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Google workspace native integration to avoid multiplienf unecassery creadentials.
Provide access to specific resources only whout forcing to route all traffic.
Ability to install on every platform.
Small footprint on our infrastructure.
High availability access to resources thanks to native support of multiple connectors.

 ### 10. Blazing-Fast, secure access to our repository

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David V. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate has been transformative for our team, providing secure and high-performance access to our repository of large binary files. With the increasing size of our assets, we needed a solution that could handle the bandwidth demands while maintaining robust security and ensuring device compliance. Twingate has delivered on all fronts.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

While our overall experience with Twingate has been excellent, we've encountered a couple of minor, isolated issues with client installations and occasional network stability from clients across the world.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security is one of the focus of twingate and that's just an added plus to all the features we get already.

 ### 11. Twingate reduce the cost.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

1. Easy to setup
2. Low cost
3. Secure
4. Users can be granted access to the necessary resources as needed.
5. Multiple login & authenticated options
6. The admin has the capability to monitor which users have access and at what times.
7. The administrator has the capability to identify the users logged in from specific computers or devices.
8. Multiple Device integration options, etc

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

So far, I am not observed any issues related to Twingate.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Lowered pricing compared to conventional VPN services.
2. As a recent startup, I am certainly experiencing significant advantages with Twingate. Their support has added an extra layer of benefits, particularly in boosting our user count. We are also proud to announce our partnership with Twingate, which is helping us enhance our company revenue and connect with potential clients and customers.

 ### 12. Simple, secure and effective

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aled P. | Senior Security & Infrastructure Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate was a breath of fresh air after many months of trying to find a ZTNA solution that fit our needs. Having previously opted to use another company that ultimately fobbed us off for not being 'enterprise' enough I was glad to find Twingate that was both featureful and sensibly priced.

The initial setup was incredibly straightforward, to the point where I was suspicious I was missing something key. But within a short amount of time I had thrown together a proof of concept and a couple of weeks later had it rolled out to the rest of the company.

We now have staff using it daily, to access all sorts of resources, with full control and logs of who is accessing what and when.

While I can't speak too deeply into the security of it, from what I've read it appears secure without over-complicating things, and where possible traffic doesn't traverse Twingate's network - and even if it does, it's through a straight-through secure tunnel between the client and the connector.

All the staff I've spoken to, from support to sales have been friendly, helpful and understanding, helping to iron out any of our onboarding issues.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Some features feel like they lack the 'full implementation' - e.g. the auto-lock and request access feature - the fact a resource can't be 'request only' without the rolling auto-lock window is frustrating. We don't need such strict control on our resource access so it's not a deal breaker but if you do need something like Teleport's Just-in-time access feature understand it's not quite the same.

The arbritary minimum users required to get any support on the top-plan felt a little unusual. I understand needing to cover costs, and thankfully we just hit that minimum, but if we were much smaller I feel like we would have been out in the cold.

Their in-built DNS security is a great drop-in for introducing DNS security to all staff, but the narrow options on being able to control logging mean that we won't use it - logging all requests isn't something we're interested in doing and believe it betrays the trust of our staff. In the mean time we've opted to use the NextDNS integration which was really straight forward.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Twingate to help us control access to resources in our cloud environments (databases, caches, virtual machines etc.) as well as servers within our office network.

It makes it really straight forward to control staff access to various resources, replacing our VPN which was a single point of failure.

 ### 13. Configuration of Twingate

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

The install and configuration of Twingate is extremely easy and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a VPN alternative.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Nothing to dislike! The product is very easy to use.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have an R&D team looking to provide access to our devices to external users and this was an excellent choice and was very easy to setup and add access and control access to our intewrnal resources.

 ### 14. Makes internal firewalling an attainable project

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate makes it easy to publish specific resources to specific users with maximum performance and availability. This is possible with other solutions, but the effort is significantly higher (typically requiring expensive specialists to implement very proprietary zero-trust solutions with a lot of moving parts). Twingate accomplishes this by proxying services by name directly to the site of the resource without having to consider IP routing or address conflicts. Once all of your user "VPN" traffic is routed through Twingate, internal least privilege security is much more attainable.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

If you need a custom installation, Twingate support will work with you, but the client install process is not as "out of the box," requiring complex scripts that are difficult to troubleshoot. But this is a one-time issue in edge cases, so not significant enough to affect a review. Also, I would like to see a Linux "appliance" to deploy Twingate instead of managing your own Linux installations and installing the software. The instructions are very easy and the install command is a single line, but I'd rather manage appliances than Linux servers.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twingate is enabling us to implement better zero trust networking. Once all of the clients are routing from Twingate connectors, we can use internal and host-based firewalls to really cut down on server-to-server or device-to-device communications, helping prevent lateral movement within our network. This is possible with other solutions, but the ease of implementation and the simple management (with no downsides that I have discovered) make success much more attainable.

 ### 15. Seamless, Secure, and Reliable Remote Access Solution!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Craig A. | Solution Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate has completely transformed our remote access experience. It’s incredibly easy to set up and use, even for teams without extensive technical expertise. The software provides a high level of security, allowing us to manage access to resources with granular control while ensuring top-tier data protection. The performance is impressive, with no noticeable lag, and it scales effortlessly as our organization grows. We also appreciate the excellent support and regular updates. If you’re looking for a zero-trust network access solution that is both secure and user-friendly, Twingate is a perfect choice!

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Nothing it's just perfect! Works every time and easy to setup.

Secure Remote Access

 ### 16. Stable and Easy for End Users to enroll

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

With MDM, you can deploy the client to devices and have users enroll within a few minutes. Twingate offers many policy controls, and device posture checks to allow access based on their status. We had a team of 10 enrolled in a single day and seamlessly migrated traffic using the DNS name to flow through Twingate and close-off ports. It's now a daily tool that people don't think about.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Twingate doesn't offer an easy way to stream logs out of twingate into an SIEM product, but it can export to Amazon S3. (not any S3 compatible)

Policy and Group configuration can be a little convoluted, but once configured, it can be changed on the fly with fast replication to connected clients.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access into Cloud infrastructure and eliminating a need for a whole device VPN with central hubs.

 ### 19. Super easy and secure replacement for old VPN

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ofir M. | VP R&D, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Ease of setup, easy to integrate and use.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Lake of additional value-added features - Like tailscale has. Magic DNS, share files between machines.
Also - Streaming videos using WebRTC from our servers does not work using Twingate.
Upgrade of connectors is tedios.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Multi-site VPN - Allows my employees to connect from everywhere to all of my sites (clouds or on-premise)
Enhancing security using zero-trust.

 ### 20. Twingate works very well and it's easy for end users to set up on there own

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

 ### 21. Good VPN solution

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

NO Linux VPN client, so far it looks like there is only MacOS support

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease to manage and scale VPN

 ### 22. The software and the experience was a train wreck !

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2023

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

The only upside seemed to be slightly faster than a traditional IPSec VPN. What our users seemed to enjoy most is when we moved off of twingate. We got a handful of "thank you"s when we uninstalled it.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Doesn't play well with fluid users that move in and out of the office. There' s no way to have internal subnets ignored, traffic always wants to go out to twingate and back. There's no mechanism to handle 802.1X. If there's an issue, and there are many, they want you to collect logs, send them to support, and wait while they get analyzed. In the few times we tried, it took over 4 to 8 hours to get a response back. In the meantime, you wait... because we were under deadlines, we quit opening trouble tickets, and re-installed our old solution. We don't have the money to waste having our users down.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were trying to deploy twingate as ZTNA. It didn't benefit us. We scraped it due to too much downtime with our users.

 ### 23. A solid remote access solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate is very easy to configure and deploy and users enjoy the ease of use and ability to access company resources without being beholden to the Corporate web filter.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

There were some steps that we we're aware of in the begin and navigating the documentation wasn't always intuitive.
Specifically the setup of non-FQDN hostnames/addresses and on-domain (AD) over twingate where something to learn and didn't have an easy way to setup.
also the client updates with non-admin users is rather clunky, I usually end up downloading the installation file again instead of using the built-in update functionality.

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

it's a worthwhile product,
deployment of the connectors is easy and the clients function well

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

reliability and speed have been improving the entire time that we've used Twingate and it's obvious that they're working to make it a solid VPN replacement.

 ### 24. Best solution for secure remote system access

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Fine and centralized profile assignement of ACL. It's easy to have a single view of access rules. We integrate Twingate with our existing Linux based server infrastructure very easily.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

We don't like the inability to activate an account outside the linked user directory. At the moment only one user directory can be linked (es: Google or Okta) and we cannot add an external people and give him access to a specif internal system, typical case when a contractor is working with us. Creating a "fake user" (or a generic proxy user) on the Directory doesn't seems a good option for us. Missing integration with Jumpcloud Cloud directory System.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the problem to access from "insecure" network our internal systems, having a full control of who access what. Over an internal or extenal VPN access we have better control of resource definitions: IP and ports and who can access it. A complete access logging log makes accounting and reporting very easy.

 ### 25. Growing secure remote access solution that gets better with time

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Of all my infrastructure initiatives, Twingate is by far the component I get the most praise for, even if I just purchased it and deployed a few connectors. As a remote-first startup, everyone from devs to management loves how easy it is now to access our development and private infrastructure. Fast and solid network performance while connecting to many remote isolated networks at once, no more switching destinations as with traditional VPN solutions. Innovating and quickly adding new features like to direct connect (peer-to-peer without traffic relay) has been awesome as we are not as reliant on Twingate's relay server infrastructure for performance. They are working on better client authorization with Trusted profiles to have even more control over who and what can access our remote infra. We rely on Twingate to allow our developers to access our development AWS RDS/elasticsearch instances which traditionally required a VPN or ssh tunnelling. The ability to move all our SSH bastion hosts into a private subnet and additionally add an extra 2FA prompt allows us to feel a bit more secure. I love that they added a free tier so I can run their solution for my home lab.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

There have been some growing pains with outages as well as they often have scheduled maintenance windows to upgrade their backend database (3-5 mins). While having higher performance, they have not yet closed the gap on features, nor do they have as generous of a free tier as Cloudflare Access.

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

Use the free tier to evaluate the performance and features against the other next-gen VPN and remote access solutions. Ensure your leverage the API access, don't deploy this infra by hand even if it's the method sales engineers promote, save yourself time in the long run by automating the deployment and automatic upgrade of the Twingate Connectors and Resource URLs.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twingate allows us to seamlessly access multiple isolated cloud resources simultaneously which was not possible with a traditional VPN. Tying network access to resources based on our Okta groups makes management a breeze, and onboarding automatic. We can access our remote internal resources using the same internal DNS name as is used by the services deployed within that network. No more looking up the external names or adding load balancers/proxies to access resources.

 ### 26. A good VPN Gateway for the Clouds and other tools

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raj V. | Reviewer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate is a VPN gateway that supports the Amazon Web services cloud platform and helps to use the features of VPN to the cloud. It is simple to set up and log in via MFA code.

The Twingate support is also cooperative and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

The previous versions were a bit slow, but the updates are better.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It offers great VPN services and simple to login with directly the MFA code once registered with the organization's domain.

 ### 27. Provisioning of Access to specific service in our Helivent App K8 clusters with Twingate is reliable

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rithika G. | Cloud Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate follows a zero-trust security model in which implementations are carried on with the least access privileges for our customer platform. It doesn't allow one single resource to take overall traffic control management independently for preventing network breaches and operates with node distribution strategies. We can regulate the user access authorization by implementing approval stages for sensitive decision-making and visibility enhancements.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Twingate deployments don't require any networking technical expertise as its simple & straighforward. We needn't make any changes to our existing network infrastructure thanks to its dynamic resource discovery feature. Twingate connectors also aid with composing our resource definitions and group membership policies of our Kubernetes deployments.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twingate defines logical sets of all resources which are accessible through remote networks via Twingate connectors. These connectors can also be deployed on Amazon Linux instances using Docker which is light-weight and efficient for our use cases. We are able to customize access privileges on a granular level to our Helivent application clusters which are accessible using its Internal IP address or its K8 DNS name. We can also add up new resources and Twingate will authorize users to access K8 services through a private DNS address.

 ### 28. Simple and accessible UI

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Javier R. | Software Engineer I, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

The UI is very transparent with the user. All the most essential information is displayed upfront and grabs the user's attention. The functionality is also a reflection of this and is easy on admins. The documentation is simple. As someone who isn't well versed in the terminology, I understood with a bit of time.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

The mobile version of Twingate. Unfortunately, I have just not been able to get it to work even after multiple updates. Once I sign, I can view a domain that I've set up behind Twingate, but if I refresh the page, I will lose viewing access.

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

If you're looking for a simple vpn solution, use twingate.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twingate allows us to set up staging and production environments for our org easily. We are constantly setting up new domains, and this is a fast process with Twingate - this allows up to speed up onboarding and prioritize other tasks.

 ### 29. Lightweight in your cloud, but you'll soon make heavy use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cameron S. | Senior DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate's connections to your private resources are speedy from a user perspective, and they're super light on the cloud resources needed to host those users. At The Pill Club, we run 400+ users with less than a full CPU and about 2GB of RAM. Once it becomes this easy to get your users access to the things they need, with no inbound connections, you'll start using it for things that traditional VPNs could never do. Want to expose just one resource to a vendor? Great: they won't get access to things outside of one internal domain or IP. Want to spin up temporary connectors for ephemeral resources like developer environments? Cool: use the Terraform integration to automate the whole thing. Want to go beyond that with server-to-server communications? They have it. Want to know what's coming next? Get new insight quarterly and a chance to shape the roadmap.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

You are exposing yourself to the risk that an external service outage can take down services for your users. However, a significant outage has happened only once in our year with Twingate.

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

Take a look at other solutions to get a feel for the integrations they have, and pay attention to the setup of the resources required in your account. I think you'll find Twingate beats them on pricing and the burden on you as an admin.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're solving the scaling problems with a self-hosted or cloud-purchased VPN - both in terms of how much time we spend administering infrastructure and how confidently we can give users access. The architecture needed is much simpler to provision and monitor, and the decoupling you can achieve between your cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments is a huge bonus. In addition, our users love how little work it is to connect, and our IT department appreciates the deep security features built into the product like SSO, MFA, and more.

 ### 30. Twingate fits our needs like a glove

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Or C. | Principal Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

We needed a solution to limit resource access that would also be managed and easy to use.
We use it as part of our cloud-based architecture, and it checks all the boxes. Extremely easy to use, providing access to specific endpoints without giving too much access to other parts of the network.
It was surprisingly easy to set up and start using it, and the fact that it also syncs with our GSuite meant that beyond the initial set up it was also a breeze.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

It might be weird to say so, but there isn't one thing that I don't like about Twingate. It does exactly what it claims and does it great.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed to limit access to specific production resources, as well as give access to resources sitting in a private cloud network.
The fact that it can do both effortlessly and as a managed service made it a winning choice.

 ### 31. Game changer for multiple VPN replacement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Easy to set up, manage and integrate with our IDP. Seamless for our user base to access apps and services anywhere we want. Decent price point compared to competitors.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Still a young product so it does lack some features, however the team are very active in development and great at communicating upcoming changes and new features.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving our issues of multiple remote access methods required for different environments. Saves us time managing multiple identities and connection clients. Outages are a thing of the past.

 ### 32. " Zero-trust network with tight security "

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gazi Shakibul Islam . | Organising Secretary, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate is a VPN alternative that uses a zero-trust model, and keeps our business and personal traffic separate. It protects our cloud infrastructure so good. So I think this is an amazing platform as it is very easy application to setup. Also Its price is also affordable.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

There is nothing much to dislike but I faced one problem with their support. It is not actually available when I need it. My business hours don't align with support hours. And this problem should be fixed as soon as possible.

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

As this is a super platform to use and highly secured, this is highly recommended for anyone for those who need easiness and secured platform like this.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As this is much secure platform, I used this one as a replacement of VPN. And I think I can make the best use of this platform. Before I was using many accounts for many sites but this one really impressed me. And I am now the regular user of Twingate.

Easy to use client for my users (MAC). Easy to use admin interface. Easy to create docker command. Support team is very good.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

For my internal mac resources I have to run a full docker container

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

security

 ### 34. Great Zero Trust access tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

The ability to give access to users (or groups) to specific resources (private or public) and enforce strong authentication is awesome!

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Connectors management could be easier but we still need to test the terraform + helm integration which should improve our usage!

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twingate allows our engineers to have access to private resources in our cloud infrastructure as if it was publicly accessible but without compromising security!

 ### 35. The crew at Twingate are great! The software has been easy to install and update.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate provides excellent one to one client support with solid and deep documentation available online.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Having to restart the client after logging out occasionally; this has been the only issue experienced.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twingate provides the exact solution for my remote and hybrid workforce to work how they want(phone, tablet, computer) and where they want with minimal setup or complicated maintenance.

 ### 36. Innovative and evolving secure access to our resources

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark T. | I, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Peace of mind when it comes to secure access, ease of deployment has been vital as we already worked remotely during the migration to Twingate. The ability to scale both the user licenses and resources has been essential during recent globally tricky times.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

More visibility of successful\failed connection attempts and current active connections. Posture checking of both antivirus and patching\windows updates.

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

We found it very easy to migrate from a Cisco VPN model whilst working remotely. The team at Twingate has helped us at every step from initial migration to administration with no task too small or big for them.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing secure access to resources in our Azure cloud has become a lot easier and manageable.

 ### 37. Secure for our database access

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Manuel P. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate is super easy to setup and starts running.
After the service is started, all connections to the database are seamless and provide an easy way to manage permissions between users and databases without sharing any sensible data.

They also have a Linux client, which is very appreciated.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

I don't think anything is missing; I like how fast and straightforward the client is.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Connecting and managing permissions between the team and different databases along the environments was annoying because we needed to remove and add separate IP addresses to the whitelist every time developer's IPs were changing.
Because we work with multiple databases, it was difficult to remember where to remove access credentials when people's permissions were changing.

 ### 38. The future of remote access!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex B. | Network Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate is easy to deploy, fast, secure, and more stable than traditional client VPN. I truly believe that Twingate represents the future of remote access and client VPN solutions will soon become a thing of the past.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Twingate is still a fairly new/bleeding edge technology and I envision it will mature a lot in the near future. I don't even really consider that as a negative or something to dislike, more of a fact. Twingate as it is now is amazing and I know it's just going to keep getting better!

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Complete replacement of client VPN. Increasing security. Increasing productivity by eliminating consistent issues that come with client vpn.

 ### 39. Efficient, simple, and secure. It just works!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Solon C. | Studio Manager and Co-founder, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

How easy to set it up. The dashboard is very intuitive and allows fine control of permission and access of the resources in the network.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

For those that have been hosting VPN and already have a big IT team to manage it, it might be harder to convince people to pay more to switch, especially in the developing country

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

It's rare to see that something that used to require a CCNA staff to set up and maintain can now handle by people with minimal experience.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Accessing multiple resources from different sites. Much easier now. It used to need an account for each site, and now it's just 1.

 ### 40. Easy, Reliable & Great Pricing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben F. | Head Of IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Ease of use, reliability and a very good price considering what you get. Twingate is very beginner friendly, with an easy-to-use Linux script that can be installed within minutes. We needed a same day solution as our previous supplier let us down.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

There's not much to say in regards to negative comments about Twingate, as i stated above, the easy of use and beginner friendliness make it an easy and effective solution for our business needs.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All of our sales team are remotely stationed, as they travel across the uk selling our product. Twingate provides a solution that allows those salespeople to connect to our server.

 ### 41. Twingate is excellent and very easy to manage

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gustavo Lopes C. | Devops Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

I like how easy is to deploy the twingate connector (I use the docker container on an ec2 instance) and to create the tunnels to my subnets. I've used the openvpn in the past, but I had some issues running it on mac devices. Twingate works well on all devices (Linux, Windows, Mac, Android and iOS)

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

I'm using Twingate on the company I work for since March 2021 and so for there's nothing I don't like.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm securing my AWS resources like instances, databases, and even some static internal websites, so I can say it's helping me for the purpose I want.

 ### 42. New type of VPN very secure and felxible

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Menno D. | Directeur, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

The VPN is invisible no open poorts needed its also flexible you are in control over what resources are available over the vpn.
Twingate use the office 365 account for login so no need for an extra vpn login.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Pricing is bit on the high side compared to traditional vpns but on the other hand Twingate offers possibilities that are just not available when using a traditional vpn.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A very secure VPN that combines all our resources in seprate networks into one VPN without us having to invest a lot of time during the setup. Its simple felexible and secure.

 ### 43. Great and easy solution to facilitate connectivity while protecting systems

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate facilitates secure connectivity from any device to any system without firewall rules and can be set up in minutes. It allows me to work around licensing restrictions that exist with standard VPN solutions with a result that's more secure. This also means that remote workers have access to the same resources as they do from the office and there's no longer a requirement to establish a VPN tunnel to setup a new office.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

We have an existing investment in a DNS protection product that is incompatible with Twingate. I don't have a great solution to leverage both products together.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm primarily solving for connectivity to cloud resources for our team, but this also allows IT access to systems with more restrictive policies than we previously had in place.

 ### 44. Excellent service and product delivery

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Russell D. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

We adopted Twingate to replace our current VPN. As a web design agency, we have multiple servers with multiple providers and utilise Saas software. Twingate was rolled out in less than 24hrs and has worked seamlessly moving forward. Access to our servers and software is locked down on specific ports with centralised control. One area where we were initially doubtful about the operation was the cross platform connector - as it transpired, it works perfectly across Windows, Mac and Linux and cannot be faulted. All in all, an excellent security product at a good price point, we would highly recommend it to any other company looking to replace their VPN.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

From our current experience, there are no negatives.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Replacement of VPN with a centralised, highly secure system for all staff members, both on-site and remote.

 ### 45. Great Zero Trust solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew R. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Ease of configuration & usage from the admin standpoint. Full SAML/SCIM integration with OneLogin. Twingate team have been very communicative to our needs and put our suggestions into place in their product.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

Small admin-based annoyances that haven't been resolved as of yet. For example when using SCIM we're unable to remove groups that have been imported in error.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The need for VPN that is regulated at the port level for our users has been a considerable benefit. We transitioned all our staff away from standard VPN service with only minor user interruption.

 ### 46. Great product, responsive support.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Easy to deploy and manage with low overhead and keeps only business-related traffic on the tunnel, saving backend bandwidth demands. I'm 99% happy with this solution (see my 1% in my dislike).

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

It does not work in a pre-boot situation. Eg, at the time of writing this review, you can not use the software to remotely log a user into a device for the first time when authenticating with a remote Domain controller. A minor inconvenience for sure, but it means I have to have equipment brought to my main facility any time I want to provision a new user on a PC. Their support is aware of the issue and hopefully they will address it in time.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software is great for providing remote access to your LAN resources for team members who are off site.

 ### 47. WFA (work from anywhere) server access protection

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick W. | H, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Having a fully distributed team and no office, Twingate allows us to protect our cloud infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

So far, nothing negative to report. There are currently no changes we would request to make

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

If you're an Okta shop and looking for seamless MFA for your cloud infrastructure resources, check out Twingate

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Seamless authentication to log in and use Twingate for our end-users. Ease of creation when it comes to our cloud connections.

 ### 48. Twingate is sleek and user-friendly, setup can be done no time.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

A smart feature called split tunneling assures secured and optimal usage of the network.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

There are no dislikes. I would request more customizable settings at the web admin panel for controlling the client view and behavior. Admin UI improvements for easy CRUD functions.

**Recommendations to others considering Twingate:**

Twingate is a breakthrough solution for any company targeting remote work. With twingate, you can rapidly enable governance and security in no time.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Twingate is fast and secure, it has simplified our onboarding and reduced provisioning/de-provisioning timelines significantly. The ability to automate and implement things on the fly will also be key for building robust tooling for faster delivery and support.

 ### 49. Great service!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Twingate is incredibly easy to use and manage. Adding resource networks takes seconds in their interface, and connectors are extremely easy to set up in just a few minutes. I like that you can have multiple connectors on the same network for redundancy, and it is compatible with SSO. Every time I have reached out to their support staff, they have responded quickly, and have always been helpful.

I'm not sure I could ever go back to a standard VPN for users after using this service.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

I wish Twingate offered the ability to connect site to site, but even without that, it has made my life easier.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integration with SSO has made user management easier. I also don't feel like I have to worry about remote connections going down when using Twingate compared to a traditional VPN.

 ### 50. Setup and product is quick to set up, easy to manage, and the user experience is amazing.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Twingate?**

Everything from the setup for the server-side piece to the client interface is easy to set up and maintain.

**What do you dislike about Twingate?**

An app for android/iOS would be nice to manage the users and connections. Doing it from the phone browser works, but a native app would be welcome.

**What problems is Twingate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem we have solved is dealing with contractors that need to access pieces of our network without giving them AD credentials and users. Being able to assign a user a specific resource group from the console is easy to manage.
