I absolutely love using Turo! It's this fantastic car-sharing platform that gives me the ultimate control. I get to browse through a diverse range of vehicles, from sleek sedans to adventurous SUVs and even luxurious sports cars. What really gets me excited is the flexibility Turo offers – I can choose the perfect car for my needs, whether it's a weekend escape or a special event. The booking process is super easy, and the pricing is transparent, making the whole experience hassle-free. Turo has truly changed the way I approach car rentals. While Turo offers flexibility, some users dislike the variable condition of rented cars, potential cleanliness or maintenance issues, and less convenient pick-up/drop-off processes. Limited coverage in certain locations is also a concern for some users. Despite these drawbacks, Turo remains popular among those who value its unique approach to car rentals. I spent many years managing for a major rental brand as apps became our contemporary way of life. Shortly before leaving that company, I started renting my personal car on the platform. The best thing as both a guest and host is that it is how fluid the passive income stream is once you effectively setup your process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For better and sometimes worse, Turo has made a lot of changes over the last 5 years. My perspective is that the biggest detriment has been their poor communication as they implement changes. This bogs down their customer service and is a overall bad look on the brand. Continously creating value in a system where there are a lot of moving parts is hard. This is precisely why it is critical to overcommunicate changes with teams, hosts, and guests far before they are rolled out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love how turo gives you the option for which type of vehicle you can drive, down to the make and model. I was fixated on renting out a corvette on my trip out in Vegas. Before I went to Vegas, I searched for 3.5 weeks, almost a month before the trip and could not find any places renting the type of vehicle that I wanted. I found Turo and I was able to have the exact car I wanted, ready for me the day I got there. The pick up and drop off process is simple, there are no hidden fees, the whole experience was exactly how Turo presented it whch is very rarefor most companies these days. The car that I rented did seem to drive a little weird, like the rotars or brake pads may have been old or damaged. It does not seem like Turo has much of a good policy/protocol for maintaing vehicles that are being rented out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Turo got me through a period where I needed an easy way to get car rentals, but didn't want to go through a traditional rental agency. I used the app pretty often on several trips to various cities. I found Turo's web and mobile apps intuitive every time, and my interactions with hosts were always positive. First, let's start with Turo's interface. It's easy to find options for the dates, price ranges, and locations you're looking for. The reservation process is relatively smooth, and as long as you pick the right vehicles and hosts, chances are good that you'll have a pleasant experience. Hosts are communicative and there are ways to get support from the platform if you're having any issues, even to get refunds or reimbursements where necessary. Overall, I find Turo easy to implement and integrate into my travel and transport operations, transparent with pricing, and timely and accountable with customer communication. One of the challenging things about Turo involves taking and submitting photos of the vehicle you're renting in the app. When you check in and out, you'll need to upload several photos through the mobile app. However, sometimes you'll be in an area where you can't get a cellular connection, such as the parking lot of a large airport. In such cases, check-in becomes a big hassle and you sometimes have to walk on foot to strange or remote locations until you can do this. So the software-hardware integration aspect of the process sometimes falls short in a way that substantially interferes with the check-in process. Turo's done an excellent job so far, but paying attention to the places where the experience breaks down for users will make the platform even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Turo offers the largest selection of cars via 3rd party private car rentals/ vendors than traditional car rental agencies. Many of the vendors will bring the car to your location saving you time, money, and the stress of locating the rental agency, especially in an unfamiliar town or needing transportation to get rental transportation. Car rental pricing is competitive to rental agencies as you have a larger selection of vendors to choose from and can compare vehicle types. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The 3 biggest dislikes about Turo are-
1. Some vendors fail to properly maintain their vehicles by getting needed maintenance and place renters at risk.
2. Damages to the car- mechanical, physical, or even environmental (smoke, smells) are easily blamed on the renter as many vendors are manipulating Turo's damage claims to get their cars fixed or to make extra money.
3. Most cars have minimum rental days so you are extremely limited with vehicle selections if you just need the car for one or two days.
The Turo business model is interesting but renters beware. Unscrupulous vendors can end up costing you much more than you bargained for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In today's world, bigger corporations and government entities are trying to control everybody through everything they can. Turo retains an open platform for individuals to still exercise their rights in a free enterprise economy to buy, sell, trade, share, what they have. The Turo app empowers both the customer and the host to go out there and get things done without a lot of hassle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Like any of the newer app-based sharing systems, it can be a little weird just borrowing someone else's car. There are so many things that could be mis-construed. Like borrowing someone's house... I think a little anxiety is expected while we become more accustomed to this type of service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You can chose the specific car, this is much better then rental cars. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1. Most of the renters will not let you cross a state border in the US. They do not write it clearly, so you need to guess. I had to rebook my trip 3 times till I started to ask apfront. Finally booked a day before- obviously for a higher rate.
2. Got a 6 year old car for the price of a new one
3. If I would book upfront- it would be so much cheaper in the rental agencies
4. Before I returned the car, I asked if I need to clean. The owner said no. Then he filed a complaint that my car was not clean enough and got extra $150 (this is for 1 month of rent period)
I opened a dispute- and they agreed with him as he has many cars, even though it was not what their terms and conditions said. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
