Very easy to set up assemblies and labor is usually pretty close. **What do you dislike about Trimble Accubid Classic?** Not a big fan of not being able to complete delte an item out of the takeoff. **What problems is Trimble Accubid Classic solving and how is that benefiting you?** None at this time. ### 2. More like excel than a database. Easy and quick to change input (most estimating programs require corrections to be made by taking items out and then entering them again rather than just changing them). Training from Accubid is excellent and is a must as it will open doors to understanding the program that are not obvious. For example, unit pricing is excellent but it is unlikely you will find it on your own. Call in Support from Accubid is also excellent. They really know what they are doing and answer your questions quickly and knowledgeably. Power substitution is very powerful and allows end-users to more efficiently modify entered data and perform what-if scenarios. Ability to quickly and easily copy or extract data to excel is very powerful and useful. Interface with LiveCount (online takeoff) is also powerful and allows for linked data between PDF's and Smartbid. **What do you dislike about Trimble Accubid Classic?** Out of the box database is limited but usable. Once you understand the program well plan to spend extra time creating assemblies. Software updates are not as user friendly as they could be. Program requires USB key to be inserted in the computer for the program to work. **Recommendations to others considering Trimble Accubid Classic:** Bottom line, great product for electrical estimating. **What problems is Trimble Accubid Classic solving and how is that benefiting you?** Reduces time to estimate projects. Allows for quick value engineering studies to be done during or after estimate completion. ### 3. It is very easy to add items and assemblies that fit our needs. I have been adding to and modifying our database for 18 years and I am still not using 50% of its capacity. I also like the integration with Livecount which has allowed my estimating department to go completely paperless. No more plans cluttering up the workspace. Of all the systems I have used Accubid is the easiest for me to train other on how to use. I can have a new estimator up an running with Accubid in just a few days. **What do you dislike about Trimble Accubid Classic?** I would like to see at least one more breakdown added to the takeoff screen. GC's and owners are asking for more and more breakouts and sometimes it can be difficult with the five that are available. (Drawing, Area, Phase, System and Bid Item) **What problems is Trimble Accubid Classic solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest benefit for us is that by using Livecount along with Accubid we have eliminated the cost associated with producing paper plans for takeoff. It also saves time by automatically inputting the takeoff into Accubid when you use Livecount. ### 4. Trimble makes billing very easy. Input is simple. With multi-user and multi-branch support, several users have access to the same project without restrictions. **What do you dislike about Trimble Accubid Classic?** Least helpful about Accubid is it needs more breakouts to choose from. Also training is absolutely needed. Excel may be an easier solution but we haven't figured a way to transfer to the data base. There is room for improvement on a few things that will hopefully be fixed over time. **Recommendations to others considering Trimble Accubid Classic:** Trimble is the choice whether you have a small or large project. **What problems is Trimble Accubid Classic solving and how is that benefiting you?** Using Trimble has given me more time to focus on my projects. It helps track our budgets and costs for large, multimillion dollar projects. Of all the estimating systems we have used, Accubid is by far the best. In many ways, you can customize it to be what you need it to be, as far as the data/values/areas/breakdowns are concerned. **What do you dislike about Trimble Accubid Classic?** The user interface and can be unforgiving. Many features could be entirely unknown without extraordinary training. Discoverability and features need a great overhaul to meet the standards that a ginger, more tech savvy generation has come to expect. The complement program, Database Manager, also lacks usability for scaling large imports of new database entries. It’s often quicker to make the new items/assemblies in Excel, so if there was a way to translate the assemblies/items from Excel to the Database Manager, it would make life easier. **Recommendations to others considering Trimble Accubid Classic:** Give it a real thorough try and see what’s possible before making a final decision. **What problems is Trimble Accubid Classic solving and how is that benefiting you?** It helps track our budgets and costs for large, multimillion dollar projects. ### 6. Your commodity pricing will always be up to date. **What problems is Trimble Accubid Classic solving and how is that benefiting you?** Accubid Classic's multiple takeoff and extension breakouts gave us the accuracy in setting up project budgets. We have integrated our accounting cost & labor codes with Classic. This provides a smooth and accurate transition from an estimate to project construction. ### 7. The assemblies can be very powerful in Accubid Enterprise and some represent hundreds, if not thousands of assembly combinations. It is now very easy to create alternates and value engineering ideas. **What do you dislike about Trimble Accubid Classic?** The product out of the box is not great. If you want the end product to be great you will have to put in a massive amount of effort. I don't think most companies have the time, nor the resources for this and will likely never realize the full potential of the product. Accubid Enterprise is still relatively new and there are some quirky things that will hopefully be fixed over time. **Recommendations to others considering Trimble Accubid Classic:** You need to know what you are getting yourself into if you go with Accubid Enterprise. In order to develop a powerful product you will need to have someone that has years of estimating experience and is also familiar with writing excel formulas. If you can find the right person and devote the resources to making it happen you can create an estimating database that powerful, accurate, and dynamic. **What problems is Trimble Accubid Classic solving and how is that benefiting you?** It easily allows us to create value engineering options. Since most of the work we do is design build and most jobs have budget issues, the ability to quickly create accurate value engineering options is key. Since the assemblies are now formula-based we have been able to create more complete and accurate assemblies, which will lead to field labor tracking that is more in line with our estimate. ### 10.
