**What do you like best about Spectrum?**

I really like how Spectrum shows and tracks retention, compared to our old accounting system it's much easier to see total retention and if it's been billed or not. Spectrum also makes it so easy to input important details about a projects billing (invoices or draws, SOV, tax rate, billing email address, etc.)

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

If you don't 'Favorite' a report or tool, sometimes it can be hard to find in the Site Map because there isn't a search function.

**What problems is Spectrum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spectrum has streamlined our billing process for general contractors, and residential and commercial customers. The reports that Spectrum offer are much more detailed that we had previously when looking at project billing history, and I love that Spectrum can create customer reports for us as well.

Very reliable service and account managers proactive in ensuring best quality of service.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

Billing can be a little confusing with multiple accounts / service locations.  Took some time to get all services onto a single bill but we did get it tidied up in the end to make approvals / payment cycles easier.

Spectrum is providing redundant diverse connections to the internet, allowing resiliency both from our site, aswell as resiliency in the local area to protect against accident damage / natural disasters.

I like the ease of use in each module, getting exactly what you need without having to look too hard. The intergation capabilites are also an added bonus.

Support, I miss the days where you could call in. If I run into an issue I either let it go or spend hours trying to figure it out myself.

Consolidating, despite the number of softwares we use I know I can look within Spectrum for the answers I need.

**What do you like best about Spectrum?**

Spectrum has lots of functionality and little quick tricks that can make it easy to learn. The ability to import records via csv is great and allows for quick work with high volume. The customer service team is very responsive, but not all support staff is the same as far as quality help and customer care. Overall, this software is easy to use once you master the UI, and the ability to favorite screens makes it easy for a new user to learn the ropes.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

There is not enough documentation for end user troubleshooting. There are some "bugs" that the customer support is aware of but have not solved. It can feel like Trimble as a company is not putting anymore effort into Spectrum and is focusing on Vista instead.

**What problems is Spectrum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spectrum is used for project accounting, subcontract management, client contract management and purchasing.

**What do you like best about Spectrum?**

I think the best thing I like about Spectrum would be the speed and the ease of use.  Spectrum is the fastest system I have used, I no longer need to sit and wait for reports it is definitely a time saver.  To add to this point, Spectrum is constantly getting better and better, they always strive to upgrade their system to be improved regularly.  I also love the training and support they have.  The Viewpoint Academy always has new things for you to learn and gain more knowledge of the system.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

There is really very little I dislike about it.  If I had to say something I guess I would say the AR process when having to revise invoices, you can't revise invoices at all really, you need to reverse the original draw which then creates a credit memo you need to apply to the original invoice and then just start over with the new revised invoice you need to create.  You can't keep invoice #'s and or invoice dates.  Kind of stinks.

**What problems is Spectrum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used to be on the slowest system ever, so I guess we have sped things up quite a bit and we are no longer on two separate systems, all of us are in Spectrum and it has really helped our field employees and our project managers have more access to information.  The ability to write custom reports has been very beneficial to us also, as well as query developer.

**What do you like best about Spectrum?**

It is easy to use from everyone (office and field). We have reached out to their support team before and we have always had a quick response. I use the system every day and use multiple functions of the system with ease.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

I wouldn't say that I dislike anything about the system. My only complaint is that it does take my dashboard a minute or so to load each time I login; which is something new. We have made them aware of the issue and they are looking into it. So I have made a habit to login first thing and then check my emails while it loads.

**What problems is Spectrum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before we started Spectrum we would process billing in Excel, which could lead to errors by neglecting to capture all cost. Spectrum pulls information into our invoices automatically, with the backup timesheets and material invoices that our customers request. It also speeds up our processing time since it is more efficient.

**What do you like best about Spectrum?**

How easy it is to move around and learn. I like the how easy it is to upload from other platforms for integrations. I like how you can narrow down the information you need in the reports section. Customer Support is always available to help you 24-7 or you can go to the network and see what is new and learn different techniques that your peers are doing.  It is easy to use everday.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

Sometimes you can not go back once things are closed.  You have to reverse it and go through the process.

I have had no issues with Spectrum everything has worked out great I had a couple of questions when I first started using it but they are always quickly answered by the customer service rep.

**What do you like best about Spectrum?**

I really like the ease of use (once you learn the system) and the different reports that are available. I also like the Business Intelligence (custom report builder) option that is available.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

The G/L has a hard time matching our actual Bank/Credit Card reconciles at times. This can be frustrating for our CPA. Also, the support for the software is a nightmare! The first year or so having the software you are "prioritized" but after that good luck getting any quick answers.

**Recommendations to others considering Spectrum:**

Ask to have one person help with training and set up, we had multiple and I am pretty sure this is why we are having the G/L Bank reconcile issue.

**What problems is Spectrum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cost Coding is a lot easier to follow for our projects using this software vs other software we have had in the past! It is easy to be able to dig down and see exactly where we are winning and losing on a project.

I have been using Spectrum for 5+ years now and absolutley love it! I use it all the time. It is so functionable and easy to use! Another thing I enjoy about Spectrum that I enjoy is how easy it is to navigate the software. So many great features! Customer service is awesome! This time last year, my coworker and I did a migration where we merged 5 different companies into one and the Spectrum consultant we had was GREAT! The import templates are really cool! I would defintley recommend using the product!

I cannot think of anything in particular that I dislike about Spectrum!

**What problems is Spectrum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I feel like we outgrew the HR, Payroll Module. We ventured out to 3rd party softwares to help fill our needs but that has not worked as well as we anticipated. Viewpoint is helping us implement Traqspera.

There are so many ways to find the things that you need.  It is very user friendly.   The help feature is great if you are not sure about something.  I have used other software and this is by far the easiest to navigate.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

There are some accounting features that Spectrum doesn't have that I wish it did.  I would like to be able to view a copy of any checks that I cut and I can't do that.  We are also experiencing many software problems and we have had no resolution.  We keep getting the same response.  Very frustrating

There are many different issues we are currently having.  We have been having these problems for months and we have had no resolution for these issues.  The communication is not great either

I like the new help features that they've added in recently and they seem to work very hard at improving modules and adding customer requests.  I can't compare to other softwares since this is the first time I've used a construction software

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

Sometimes it takes support a long time to get back to you when you're in a pinch and need immediate assistance.  I really feel they could improve the support experience with more staff and by accommodating those in different time zones.

Spectrum gives us one place to handle all our accounting, estimating, billing and payables as well as many other features that help our jobs run smoothly.

The system works well for multiple entities and consolidated WIP.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

It has a very back-office feel.  The data entry screens are unforgiving and must be completed in order to continue to the next field.    This difficulty lead us to abandon Spectrum for inventory and service work order management after spending thousands extra working with Professional Services to make invoices and reports that worked for our industry.

The standard reports are not useful.   You can pay to take the classes to learn how to edit them in Crystal reports.  I generally use MS Query and make my own.   Spectrum doesn't have the various AIA pay applications or certified payroll reports.

**What problems is Spectrum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am not sure.  They have a suggestion box.  I really need to be able to use 2 full screens and they will not be fixing that for Spectrum.

Spectrum is very intuitive.  Plus there is a ton of help, tutorials and an online network of users to help you learn the software and expand your knowledge.  The most robust package I've used to date.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

I've been using it for almost four years now and have not found anything that I really dislike.  Just takes some time learning the processes and steps when billing and setting up tables.

Having Spectrum provides us with up-to-date information to better manage and project our jobs.  Manage our paperwork better with document management.  Project managers have information at their finger tips.

Payroll and AR integration have been the biggest improvement.  We are now able to enter timesheets daily and bill as often as we want!

I like the speed probably the most, you can pretty much pull a report with tons of data and it will be loaded and ready in less than a minute.

Maybe the depth?  It seems as if it has many layers with isn't necessarily a negative thing, it just means you have more to learn and understand.

We had a lot of papers going around the office in file folders waiting on PM approval and such, now we have gone paperless and everything is moving simply in smoothly.

The best part of Spectrum is the user friendly capabilties. I like the fact that you can have favorites. It is easy to retain information and keep your favorite parts. I also appreciate the document imaging for less paper.

Sometimes spectrum lags if you are quick to input information.

Spectrum has the capabilites for a larger construction company and it is user friendly for our PMs, PCs, and DMs. When submitting a ticket you get a response usually the same day.

What I dislike the most about Spectrum is trying to create custom reports in Crystal Report.

I enjoy using Spectrum  in my daily role as Human Resource and Payroll Manager. It is intuitive and easy to navigate.

Accounting in the construction industry. The software provides a vast and comprehensive platform for all aspects of accounting to the construction industry as well as it's coordination with various other programs for import of data used to generate payroll  and project tasks.

I love that Spectrum has almost all of its modules integrated with each other (i.e. Job Cost is integrated with GL, AR, AP, Payroll, etc.) - when all of the modules communicate, it creates a more seamless experience.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

As with any software, Spectrum does have its limitations and oddities. However, they're easy to work around once you learn what they are. At times, I do wish more thought had been put into how certain processes flow within Spectrum, but it's impossible to make everyone in the world happy - overall, I'm very happy with the software and recommend it to others.

It's solving the issue of visibility across the company on how our jobs are performing while also allowing us to track financials within the system across the board.

Need to pay an outside company to set up and teach you how to use the program. Cannot create custome reports unless you have knowledge of Crystal Reports.

We had outgrown Quickbooks (the program was crashing daily) and needed something new. Spectrum was an excellent option for us to grow.

Payroll reports are not an easy task to get to, to print for the employees. The fact that Spectrum doesn't stop paying vacation if the employee doesn't have any time avaiable.

**What do you like best about Spectrum?**

As the Dir of IT, one of the most helpful areas is the ability to import data using their Data Exchange, which can save a great deal of time, which uses Excel, and they also have Import features for Material Management and Inventory.

Another great feature is creating your reports using Crystal Reports. If you are into SQL, you can also garner data that way as well, where I have modified data using SQL in their system that was imported incorrectly.

They have continued to develop their help features online, where you can direct new users.

We still use the on-prem version of the software, and by March of 2025, they will stop supporting the on-prem version and we will be required to move to the cloud.

I have had to participate within every department, mainly focusing on Accounting, HR, Job Cost and Material Management as the majority of my work. Those modules are all pretty solid and work very well, and I will get to some drawbacks on the other side.

They allow Multi-Companies.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

Data Exchange: They don't have enough formats for a program of this size. If they don't have one, they push their development team at a hefty price. We are a Heavy Highway Construction company, and our asphalt prices fluctuate on the price of oil, if you have special pricing for customers (which they have a section for that), but you have to modify all those prices by hand because they do not have a Data Exchange for Customer Special Pricing, which is perplexing that they wouldn't, as we have a large number of customers with special pricing based on their levels of qty. I believe, every table should have a data exchange and a modify for one-time import ones.

Not every field in the Data Exchange is error checked. If the data is wrong on some of the one-time imports, you have to use SQL to correct your mistake.

Crystal Reports: If you want to modify one of their reports, they use temp tables for almost every report, which does not lend itself to those of us who write Crystal Reports, as you can not always get to the raw data as they use temp tables to create raw data you cannot use, and you cannot always add other tables or parameters because the report may fail. It would have been better for them to use the base tables to make it easier for the companies to modify their reports. Many times I have to start from scratch to determine what data they used to create their temp table.

On-Prem vs Cloud: I know many industries are moving in that direction, though the cost savings they calculate for you don't equate to what we pay directly. Moving to the cloud will cost our company more as we still have servers and must maintain them, as well as backups. If is not like Spectrum is the only software our company uses.

Departments: One of the issues I have is the inconsistencies of the different screens from the different modules.  They say this is due to different programmers working on different modules throughout the years, but they don't have a standard, which can be frustrating when you want to see what data you will need to enter, some screen populate (greyed out as it awaits you to enter the main piece of data) where other screens remain completely blank with only the entry for the main piece of data. The other drawback is the system is click happy. You have to click through some areas that you shouldn't need to click so many times to complete a task.

Inter-Company Billing and Sharing : The software is weak on procedures of sharing data and invoicing between companies. We have had to write Crystal Reports to create Data Exchange FIles to import Invoices from 1 company to another.  All Equipment and Employees have to be entered in all companies they work in as opposed to our old software that these could be flagged as to which companies they could be accessed by.

Allowing us to integrate our 5 plants with our Job company, and giving us the ability to import data from our Bid and Field software into our ERP. By giving us a central platform and source of truth allows us to better see all aspects of the company.

The ease of use.  The new help features are also great for figuring out new things.  Having The Network to bounce questions off of other users has come in handy several times.

There isn't much that I don't like.  It did take a while to learn, but I feel like that's the normal process when learning any new software program and starting from the beginning.

The automating pf the accounts payable process is a big one for us.  It will take some work on our end to figure out how to make it work, but once we do it will save a ton of time!

Spectrum is an all-around program that handles every aspect of our business with one system. Every aspect of our business are able to utilize the different features of the program to help streamline our work.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

Custom reporting is either cumbersome to do yourself or very costly to have Viewpoint write a custom report. Being a small business it is difficult to set aside the time to write the reports with Crystal Reporting but at the same time it is expensive to get Viewpoint or another company to do it for us as well.

We have definitely benefited in several areas. In our service department we are able to schedule calls and services much easier. Our Job Costing is more accurate with using projected costs. The document imaging puts everything at our fingertips.

Spectrum is an ERP system with a focus on the construction industry.
Spectrum makes it easy to get data from the database via infolink.
Spectrum is continuously working to improve the platform's overall functionality.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

Spectrum is lacking in Materials Management, Human Resources, and Equipment modules.
However, they are working to make improvements.
The other con of Spectrum is the design of parts of its database. Some tables are hard to find as they were created under the old module name and since have changed the modules name so not all tables start with the same prefix.
The other issue with the tables is that the values that they use. For example, the year column for 1 table will be 4 digits, while the year in another table will be a 2 digit.

Spectrum is solving our payroll, accounting, job performance, and equipment maintenance.
The added database query functionality makes creating custom reports and pulling data much more accessible.

the accounting part of the project is very goon and has a left bar connecting all the stuff allowing navigation between items very fluid. Very usefull for cost tracking

the interface is not the most interactive and userfirendly. a better interface would be very helpful. Integration with more softwares would also help a lot in the use

It does a great job of having all the different parts organized well within the system. The UI is simple to navigate, and you can do the same thing in many different ways.

It doesn't do a great job integrating with other software. When your company uses multiple different software for different things, it becomes cumbersome to adapt them all to it.

Spectrum is heading in the right direction. I have not used it long but there seems to be enough updates and thought put into make ing the system better for all users.

Dashboards have been invaluable. They offer user-friendly visuals for important data and KPI's which appear immediately when logging in. Viewpoint support can create custom dashboard cards for any data you want to monitor.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

The canned reports do not offer enough parameters. You are limited to just a few options in most reports. I have to resort to custom report building, which is not an easy task in Spectrum.

Spectrum offers a wonderful Job Cost Overview that brings all the data for a particular job into one place. Drilling down into the data is quite simple, and data can be exported to Excel for further review.

What I like best about Spectrum is how user-friendly it is.  This system is AMAZING!  It helps me stay organized and on top of what is happening with each job we have going.  Being able to upload to the cloud is great as well as the app.

There is nothing I dislike about Spectrum.  This system is easy to use and track what is happening with jobs and what we have to track for Project Management time and job costs.

I really enjoy some of the capabilities that Spectrum has with Info link and SDX, especially. I also really love the community that has been created for Spectrum users. You can defiantly find many valuable tips and suggestions on the Network.

**What do you dislike about Spectrum?**

One area that I feel could be improved is document imaging. When it works, it works great, but the bugs need to be fixed. Sometimes the system will not let me add an image, so I have to log out and log back in to attach an image.

**What problems is Spectrum solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spectrum is helping us keep our information all in one organized place. We also started utilizing our payroll in Spectrum this year which has been very helpful.
