It helps in ensuring that the application will be able to withhold the load of concurrent users upto what extent. Thus helping to determine the scalability of the application and how the application will perform under peak load. So if there are any bottlenecks in the application they can be pointed out and closed before moving to production. We have been using it for both, load testing of monolithic as well as micro services based applications. The load is generated by creating virtual users and then by hitting the application with these virtual users to find the max load the web application can withstand. These virtual user count is kept increasing to find the breakpoint at which the application crashes. The breakpoint determines the max number of concurrent users the web application can handle. **What do you dislike about Tricentis Neoload?** Tricentis Neoload is a useful tool for load testing that can work for Cloud based applications too. It has the capacity to simulate a high volume of users accessing applications from different devices and network conditions. It also uses AI to simplify and analyze the test results. There are no dislikes for it, however for doing the load testing, the machines from where the load is being initiated must be of higher compute. Generating load of high volume of users requires high CPU and memory to be configured for the Neoload tool. Recently for our application before going live we have used Neoload itself for load testing. We had installed the same on one VM as master and on other VMs as slave and then generated load from all of them concurrently. **What problems is Tricentis Neoload solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before moving our servers to production we normally perform load testing on our pre production servers. This helps us in recognizing if there are any missing configurations that are left out. Thus reducing issues in actual production. It is really good for somebody who is not looking to write code to emulate the real user behavior. NeoLoad has a wide range of features and options for correlation that makes your script very robust and reliable. It also has CLI toolkit for engineers looking to automate the process. **What do you dislike about Tricentis Neoload?** 1. Lots of clicks! Yes, at times while working on a UI based script that has many transactions, you'll need to use your mouse a lot number of times (expanding the tree, collapsing it, viewing the response, extracting a variable, substituting a file parameter etc have multiple screens between them, you would be clicking on several buttons to achieve these) and it can be frustrating. It slows down the speed of our work. 2. Reporting could have been better - Though GUI reports are elaborate and self-explanatory, reports generated from NeoLoad Web are poor, and are missing several important details and metrics. 3. Lacks feature to integrate NeoLoad with third-party tools - If you want to stream the data generated from NeoLoad to an external database and then use it for analysis, NeoLoad is not going to help you.
