Toucan Pros and Cons

I've been using Toucan for several months now, and the tool perfectly fulfills its embedded analytics role. The interface is very pleasant compared to many other tools.

You Prep, where data is prepared prior to visualization, is extremely comprehensive and offers a wealth of possibilities for your datasets.

Tiles and stories are very easy to build, and the various filtering and cross-filtering possibilities between graphs offer your users excellent data readability. The UI is top-notch.

Customization of each space is also beneficial in the case of customer specific dashboards.

The platform is very flexible, comprehensive, and straightforward. It has powerful back-end capabilty. I often use direct SQL queries, but the platform has good data scrubbing and processing capabilities as well.

They have deployed a new Version 3 platform, and I am awaiting access to that. The company has made a lot of good changes that will reduced deployment time. Also, they have improved the pdf reporting which heretofore was weak. While performance is good most of the time, they are promising improved performance with this latest version. I want the ability to have additional descriptive labels to forms. They have applied updates to the platform which has resulted in my site being unavailable to my customers. Customer support can take 2-3 days to get a response. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Toucan allows the implementation of a wide range of connectors to link the company's various data sources. The "Storytelling" mechanism is well designed, allowing essential KPIs to be condensed on a primary dashboard and then enabling deeper exploration into the data. The tool quickly empowers business users in the implementation of their Dashboards. Integrating Toucan Toco in our product was made easy by the tools provided such as dashboard & stories preparation, YouPrep data manipulation, and generally speaking the overall administration console provided by Toucan Toco.

Customer support has always been reactive upon requests, and solutions were found quickly.

Sometimes it can be difficult to really know how to pre-process data when we have a large dataset to manipulate.

We'd like to see a stronger support for data versioning (compared to staging and production modes) and have the ability to select a specific version of a story or dashboard to put in production. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
