## ToolJet Reviews
  ### 1. Flexible, AI-Powered Low-Code Platform for Enterprise Apps

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aneisha V. | Technical Content - Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

I have been using ToolJet and till now the experience has been good.
There are some really good advantages, like it's open source, easy to use, provides. It is purely developer-focused, open-source, extensible, low-code platform built specifically for enterprise-grade-level internal tools and dashboards.

Its biggest strength is offering development flexibility from writing AI prompts to dragging and dropping widgets to custom coding as and when required. You can start building your dashboard with AI prompts and use drag-and-drop widgets to make it function better, and if needed, write complex code through JavaScript.

ToolJet supports 80+ native integrations, including PostgreSQL, Anthropic, WeaviateDB, Stripe, n8n,gRPC, MySQL, SwissCom and more. This means can easily integrate using its provided integrations or build my own.

For large enterprises adopting strict security standards, ToolJet offers on-prem deployments, air-gapped mode, RBAC, audit logs, environments and version control. Best part, it does not charge end users unlike other platforms and hence offers premium features at genuine pricing. ToolJet also comes up with deployment flexibility of hosting on cloud, self-hosting or on-prem hosting making it enterprise-friendly with SOC 2 and SSO support.

Currently it has launched its AI App Builder with workflow automation. ToolJet is a direct competition to companies like Retool, SuperBlocks, Appsmith and more. ToolJet is a modern alternative to low code internal app builder with its AI-native capabilities to build dashboards and internal apps faster. As an open-source platform, it has no vendor lock-in and reduces long-term TCO, making it a strong choice for CEOs, CIOs and CTOs looking for flexibility from build to deployment. Currently ToolJet has launched its own AI Agents to help you in the building process faster by intuitively figuring out which piece fits where in the code and data resources. It has good TAT for customer support and is easy to implement. I used it to build some dashboards that were required for my company.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

I love it, as it has really good AI-native features just like retool but at reasonable pricing.

**What problems is ToolJet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't know a lot of coding, but the AI app builder and the team have helped me immensely in making beautiful UI with good workflows.

  ### 2. ToolJet Supercharges Internal Tool Development with Ease and Flexibility

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

ToolJet simplifies the process of creating internal tools, eliminating the need for extensive engineering effort. With its drag and-drop builder, built-in integrations, and pre made components, I can quickly transform ideas into working tools. The open source aspect also provides the flexibility and transparency required for customization. Overall, ToolJet significantly reduces development time and enables teams to deliver internal applications much more efficiently.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

Some of the more advanced setup steps could benefit from clearer documentation, particularly when dealing with complex data sources or multi step workflows. The platform may also feel somewhat sluggish if an app incorporates a large number of components. Additionally, a few integrations are still in the process of maturing and would benefit from further refinement. While these are not major problems, they can add a bit of extra time to the configuration process.

**What problems is ToolJet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ToolJet enables us to develop internal dashboards, automate repetitive tasks, and design lightweight AI assisted workflows without having to rely solely on our engineering team. This significantly reduces the time we spend waiting for internal tools and allows our teams to experiment more quickly. Additionally, it has consolidated various manual processes into a single, unified interface, which has enhanced both the speed and accuracy of our daily operations.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arjun G. | Associate Salesforce Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

I appreciate ToolJet for its ability to significantly expedite application development with its declarative approach, allowing us to build applications more quickly than traditional methods. The AI feature is my personal favorite aspect, as it eliminates the need even for declarative drag-and-drop processes by simply responding to prompts effectively to develop the applications. This feature enables me to focus more time on understanding client requirements, ensuring we deliver projects faster and thereby drive more revenue. I also find the integration with Google Sheets and databases useful for efficient data fetching and saving, which streamlines our workflow further. The ease of the initial setup was notable, and overall, ToolJet makes the application development side less burdensome and more efficient, making it an integral part of our process.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

I find that the AI feature in ToolJet sometimes does not implement exactly what I prompt it to, which can be frustrating when I need precise results. Additionally, when trying to make precise customizations, ToolJet lacks the functionality that would allow me to do this effectively. It seems that the AI could benefit from a deeper understanding of my requirements and more context before applying changes.

  ### 9. Good tool but needs to be more stable and flexible

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mariam B. | Engineering Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2025

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

It’s quick to build internal tools without much coding. The drag-and-drop builder is easy to use, and connecting to APIs or databases is fast. I like that it’s open-source, so we can customize it if needed. The community is active and helpful.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

Performance can be inconsistent, especially with large datasets or complex queries. Some features feel incomplete or lack polish, requiring workarounds. For example, in our case:

1.Dynamic dropdowns were hard to set up because we couldn’t easily use variables.

2.Complex json needed extra JS instead of built-in support.

3.Sometimes data bindings between components broke after we edited them.

4.Queries didn’t always refresh on their own, so we had to run them manually.

5.Error messages were not clear, so debugging was harder. The docs are okay for basics but don’t explain advanced things well.
6. In some places, ToolJet lets us use Python for queries, but in other cases it’s not supported, so we have to switch to JavaScript. For JavaScript, only part of the language is supported, so some functions we normally use don’t work, and we have to find workarounds.

7. Not flexible

**What problems is ToolJet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tooljet helps us build internal tools much faster without needing to write everything from scratch.
We can connect to APIs, databases, and other services in minutes and quickly create dashboards, admin panels, or data review tools. This saves a lot of development time and lets non-developers also work on building features. It’s especially useful for testing ideas quickly and making small changes without going through a full development cycle.

  ### 10. ToolJet not bad....

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

ToolJet is great because it lets you build internal apps quickly with a drag‑and‑drop interface while still allowing custom code. It supports many integrations and has strong security compliance, making it reliable for business use.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

ToolJet can be difficult for non technical users because advanced features require coding knowledge. Performance sometimes slows down with complex dashboards and large data queries.

Another drawback is limited deep customization compared to full coding solutions. Pricing can also become high when scaling for bigger teams.

**What problems is ToolJet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ToolJet solves the problem of building internal apps fast without needing a big developer team. This saves time and money while making workflows smoother and easier to manage.

For you, it means quicker setup of logistics dashboards and catalog tools. That helps spot errors faster and keep operations efficient.

  ### 11. The Most Complete Low-Code Tool for Building Web App Interfaces

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2025

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

Although I am not a professional coder, I have gradually taught myself how to write code over the years. I support a non-profit organization and have developed a suite of tools to handle several of its functions—something I could never have accomplished without ToolJet. The platform connects effortlessly to a MySQL database, allowing me to turn an idea into a working, multi-function tool within just a few hours. I can continue to expand and refine the interface even as my users start using it. Building such an interface from scratch would have been out of reach for me, but ToolJet made the process straightforward. The Slack channel is excellent, and both the company and its user community are extremely responsive and helpful.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

It's difficult for me to find anything I truly dislike about ToolJet. However, one area that could use improvement is the alignment and placement of components. Having tools that allow components to snap into place would help automate the process of creating a neat and organized UI. While I'm not certain, I suspect this feature may be added in the future, as the team consistently works to enhance usability.

**What problems is ToolJet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been using ToolJet for four years. Initially, I created a MySQL database to manage membership for my organization, which holds weekly activities requiring sign-ups for several dozen tasks. My first project was to automate one of these activities, allowing around 50 users to register with ToolJet for privacy and logging purposes. Each week, they could log in and select one or more activities for the upcoming quarter. By integrating an external email loop, I made it possible for coordinators to assign people to tasks, for users to choose their preferred tasks, and for notifications, reminders, and confirmations to be sent out. Both users and coordinators benefited from built-in analytics. More recently, I developed a member management interface and a leadership interface that oversees about 20 committees, including their leaders, terms, and committee members. The range of features I was able to implement without any formal training has impressed several experienced software professionals on our tech oversight committee. These tools have significantly streamlined our operations and fostered more effective volunteer participation.

  ### 12. My Experience with ToolJet AI

I can connect multiple data sources, create dashboards, forms, and internal tools quickly without heavy coding. It saves a lot of time, reduces dependency on developers for small changes, and helps me focus on solving business problems rather than dealing with technical complexities.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

Sometimes ToolJet can feel a bit slow when loading large data or complex workflows. A few features are not very intuitive at first, and it takes a little time to understand advanced options. Compared to some other tools, certain features are limited, like complex logic for automation. But overall, these issues are minor and don’t affect my daily usage much.

**What problems is ToolJet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ToolJet helps me build internal tools and dashboards without relying heavily on developers. Before, small changes or new tools required coding and extra resources, which was time-consuming and expensive. Now, I can quickly connect databases, create dashboards, automate simple workflows, and visualize data easily. This has saved a lot of time, reduced errors, and improved productivity in my work.

**Reviewed by:** Hakhil N. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2024

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

I've been using ToolJet for the past six months for our internal dashboard at CodeDesign. What I appreciate most is how straightforward it is to use. We opted for the self-hosted cloud setup, and the open-source nature of ToolJet gives us a lot of flexibility and control. I could get our dashboard up and running pretty quickly, and it's been rock solid in terms of handling our data. The platform is data-strong, making it easy to pull in and manipulate the information we need.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

One thing I found challenging was the initial setup, as it took a bit of time to learn all the features. There were also a few bugs when updates were rolled out, which was slightly annoying, but nothing that couldn't be managed.

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2024

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

I have selected ToolJet as a tool to build an admin to allow us to manage the Job Architecture.
Previously we had engaged with other tools and companies but thy were either too difficult to use or too expensive.

I was able to design and implement a solution in less than a week, by myself. I am the CPO here and not a developer but I was able to understand quickly how the system works and how to develop intelligent solutions.
The features are great, lots of tools and easy interface.

The documentation is great but whenever I had questions the customer service was able to help.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

Overall the platform is great, what I would be focusing on is making the custom component more available as in templates

We needed to build an admin tool to manage our Job Architecture information

  ### 24. The best internal tool builder you'll ever need

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prasanth P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2024

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

Feature packed with a simple interface and great customer support. We use it for our customers and help them build internal dashboards and daily tasks. Integrates with a bunch of databases and tools. Fairly simple to get started on AWS with their marketplace app.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

When too many components are there, sometimes rendering is a bit slow. But we've been assured that there is a build coming that will take care of this!

**What problems is ToolJet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gives us the ability to build tools fast without worrying about getting the basics in place. Helps us save time from building the same things over and over again. This obviously translates to cost savings for customers.

  ### 31. Building complex UI interfaces Fast? - Tooljet has your back

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mate V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2023

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

Create complex interfaces quickly
- table widget - display tabular data, filter, free-text-search, server side filtering, pagination
- focus only on business logic - you don't need to write bolierplate frontend code, no HTML, no CSS.
- Javascript or Python to code all of your business logic quicly
- builtin editor for easy development
- Slack community support, small, but helpful community
- You can even use it to create simple landing pages
- Self hosted - dockerized image, you can run it beside your database server
- Integrate with various databases and APIs - I only use it with a custom-tailored REST API, but you can connect to lot of databases directly as well.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

- built on top of react, sometimes gets slow - use pagination for displaying larger datasets
- table widget crashes sometimes, but usually because error in my javascript code
- For the time being the easy-to-use Cloud only hosted in us-east-1. If you're data center / database in Europe, inteface will be slower, as latency is high. However, I talked with some folks from Tooljet, and they are planning to deploy the cloud service in multiple regions in the future. For now, you can self-host.

**What problems is ToolJet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the variety of widgets - table, modals, checkboxes, variables - i was able to create a fairly complex UI interface just around 50 hours, where users can register, sign in, interact with payment and invoice data. The main task of the interface is to pair any payment transactions with invoices, where the automated solution failed. Users can list the unpaired transactions and invoices, and go through one-by-one and resolve issues.

  ### 32. Great tool for building custom dashboards from database

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anand S. | Co-Founder & CTO, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2024

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

The best thing is that I was able to connect my primary datasource quickly, and write some queries that I'm already familiar with and pull the data to a table without writing any code!

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

Sometimes the editor becomes unresponsive.

**What problems is ToolJet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're a saas company and our problem was that there was no single tool to visualise the list of users and their usage information. Even though tools like Intercom helps in some way, ability to build custom dashboards by querying the data directly from our database was really great.

Even our non-technical people can easily create new tables with Tooljet and that's the biggest advantage. Creating something like this from scratch by writing code would have been really expensive for us.

  ### 33. Tooljet - A great tool for speeding up development of your business applications

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashik S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2023

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

1. Its open-source. Our organization was on the lookout for open source tools as we didn't want to be locked into a particular vendor.
2. It is very developer friendly and has a minimal learning curve for any developers who are familiar with any javascript framework.
3. Its extensible. If tooljet doesn't have any built in feature, there is an option to write custom javascript (or python) to achieve any logical requirements. Similarly the option to add custom react components is massive plus in case I require complicated UI elements.
4. Easy to integrate with existing APIs, database and other tools.
5. My favourite part about tooljet and why we choose it from among its competitors is the quick support from the team. Even though we are using the community edition , we get detailed and quick support. This seperates tooljet from its competitors.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

1. Even though I understand low code tools are a huge piece of software and performance can sometimes take a hit , this is something if possible can be improved. I sometimes face minor perfomance issues in the builder when large amount of data is loaded. I am sure this can be improved if I run better hardware so there is a possibility that its my hardware
2. I am nitpicking here , and not exactly a drawback, initally when i wanted to test it out i had figure out how to set the whole thing up (which is expected for production use cases ). Some competitors had a docker run command which included the database. It was primary meant to test out locally and hence easy to dispose.

**What problems is ToolJet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tooljet is helping us speed up the development of our internal business tools. It is saving us time in terms of speed of development. The timeline for new requirements has been cut from weeks to days. So its a major productivity booster. It also makes the software easy to manage hence reducing the load on the developers.

**Official Response from Navaneeth Padanna Kalathil:**

> Thank you for your thoughtful review of ToolJet on G2! We're so glad to hear that you're finding our platform to be a great tool for speeding up the development of your business applications.

Regarding your feedback on performance, we're aware that there is room for improvement in this area. We're actively working on optimizing ToolJet to improve performance, especially for large datasets.

We also appreciate your feedback on the setup process. We're always looking for ways to make it easier for our users to get started with ToolJet. We're considering adding a docker run command that includes the database, as you suggested.

Some unexpected behaviour sometimes when building apps. Has some way to go before it's 100% robust.

We have a small team and a significant pipeline of projects. We generally code in Laravel but the overhead of building a Laravel project from scratch for small internal tools is often not cost-effective.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Subin T. | Staff Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2023

**What do you like best about ToolJet?**

One of the aspects of Tooljet that I value the most is its exceptional ease of use. The platform's intuitive and user-friendly nature makes it accessible to team members with limited coding experience, empowering them to contribute to application development seamlessly. The drag-and-drop interface simplifies the process of creating new applications and customizing existing ones, enabling rapid prototyping and iteration. Additionally, Tooljet's extensive library of pre-built components and integrations offers a significant advantage, allowing us to swiftly build complex applications without starting from scratch. This not only boosts our development velocity but also enhances our overall productivity, as we can leverage existing resources to deliver high-quality applications efficiently.

**What do you dislike about ToolJet?**

The integration of OpenAI's chatGPT API would be a valuable addition to Tooljet, as it has the potential to elevate Tooljet from being a low-code platform to a zero-code application development solution.

**What problems is ToolJet solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tooljet helped to prototype adhoc dashboards and internal applications for our sales and operations team.
