## About Tolgee
Tolgee is an open source localization platform built for developers. Translate your web and mobile apps without leaving your workflow, edit strings directly in your running app, and ship new languages without the usual copy paste between spreadsheets and code. Why teams choose Tolgee: 🚀 In-context editing. Click any text in your live app and translate it on the spot, with full visual context. 🚀 AI and machine translation. Context-aware AI translation plus DeepL, Google and AWS, so first drafts are ready in seconds. 🚀 Built for engineers. CLI, REST API, webhooks, git-style branching and a Figma plugin. 🚀 Translation memory and glossaries. Reuse past translations and keep terminology consistent across every project. 🚀 Native SDKs. First-class support for React, Vue, Angular, Svelte, Next.js and more. 🚀 Open source and self-hostable. Run Tolgee on your own infrastructure so your translation data never leaves your servers, or use Tolgee Cloud. Tolgee replaces the file shuffling and blind translation that slows teams down. Developers stay in code, translators finally see where each string lives, and everyone ships faster. With Tolgee SDK, you can simply finetune your texts by ALT + clicking them directly in the app you develop. No more looking for keys in your source, no more editing localization files, and no more data exporting for translators. The core reason behind all inaccurate translations is missing context. Uploading screenshots to provide context has never been so simple. Screenshots can be automatically generated in an in-context editing view using the Tolgee Chrome plugin. We try to reshape the process of software localization with a different approach, which aims to save time and effort of everyone who is getting involved in the localization process.

**What do you like best about Tolgee?**

Tolgee has been our localisation backbone since day one. We’ve been using it for more than two years, and we’re very happy with it. We use it for Compose Multiplatform as well as native iOS and Android, which helps us localise both our shared UI and platform-specific strings. We also use it for our Next.js website, and it works very well there too.<br><br>One thing I really like is how flexible the tooling is. The Tolgee CLI allowed us to create custom scripts to pull strings and place them exactly where we want them, as well as automatically remove unused strings. On top of that, Tolgee MCP allows us to handle localisation through AI. When we don’t use MCP, we use the Tolgee Web UI, which is easy to use. We currently manage around 30 languages, and the experience has been fast and reliable.<br><br>They offer both a managed service and a self-hosted option, with reasonable pricing for companies of all sizes. The team is approachable and genuinely responsive to feedback. For instance, when I first started using Tolgee in 2024, Compose Multiplatform wasn’t supported yet. I opened an issue on GitHub, and support was added in a following update. I also had the opportunity to participate in a user interview, which reinforced my positive impression that they genuinely care about hearing feedback from their users.

**What do you dislike about Tolgee?**

I don't have any point at the moment. Tolgee does everything we need very well.

**What problems is Tolgee solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tolgee centralises localisation across all the platforms we use, such as Compose Multiplatform, native iOS/Android, and our Next.js website, which makes it much easier for us to manage translations in a consistent way across roughly 30 languages.

**Official Response from Baruš Urbanová:**

> Dear Maurizio,
thank you so much for the review. I am happy to hear we have been part of your localization journey from the begining!

Also I am happy to hear that we were able to improve your developer experience with Compose Multiplatform support. In case you run into any issues in the future, never hesitate contacting us, we are always happy to help.

  ### 2. Attentive team and easy to use technology

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Tolgee?**

I really appreciate Tolgee’s responsiveness to feedback. The translation pipeline and overall developer experience are also easy to set up and use, which makes it straightforward to get started and keep things moving.

**What do you dislike about Tolgee?**

The only issues we’ve had with Tolgee have been on our side, usually due to misconfiguration or our developers getting a bit too creative with how they use it.

**What problems is Tolgee solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps our team stay on top of i18n and localization as we develop new features, and it supports us in reaching users all over the globe. With newer features like the Glossary and QA checking, it feels like both the product and the translation quality keep improving the more we use it.

**Official Response from Baruš Urbanová:**

> Dear Jesper,
thank you for your review and I am happy you are happy with Tolgee.

We love your developers being creative with Tolgee usage, it always bring us new ideas on what to improve (even when sometimes we have hard moments at the support line 😅), so keep rocking!

  ### 3. Flexible Translation Solution with Excellent Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gert V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Tolgee?**

I like the flexibility of Tolgee as both a company and a software. It's flexible in finding a suitable license that fits us and the software itself adapts to different processes. The team is responsive to issues, which is great because I can just go on a Slack channel, mention a problem, and get a response within an hour. The flexibility of the software helps us do translations ourselves using machine translation or external parties, letting them access the platform. It was relatively easy to set up, and it didn't take a lot of time to get started. It's just easier to build the software and then have marketing jump in to do copy and translations. These aspects make Tolgee valuable to us.

**What do you dislike about Tolgee?**

I can't really come up with something at the moment. We are experiencing with experimenting with the Figma plugin. That is still a little bit rough around the edges, but it has great potential.

**What problems is Tolgee solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tolgee helps us support more customers in different languages, growing our user base by enabling communication with users in different countries.

**Official Response from Baruš Urbanová:**

> Dear Gert,
thank you so much for the review and for mentioning your challenges with Figma plugin. We have focused on that during the summer and rolled out a big update recently. I believe this one improves your Figma experience significantly. And if you run into any issues, feel free to contact us anytime.

You know where to find us, we are always happy to hear any feedback.

  ### 4. Tolgee Makes Self-Hosted App Localization Surprisingly Simple

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Tolgee?**

What impressed me the most is how simple it made something I had always assumed would be complicated. I used the self-hosted version to translate my hobby project, and the setup was surprisingly smooth. The interface is clean, the workflow feels natural, and I could focus on building my application instead of managing translation files. Before discovering Tolgee, I honestly didn't even know there was such an elegant solution for application localization.

**What do you dislike about Tolgee?**

The main limitation for me was the self-hosted edition. Some of the features available in the cloud version are missing, which is understandable, but I'd love to see feature parity improve over time. As someone who prefers self-hosting whenever possible, that would make Tolgee even better.

**What problems is Tolgee solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Tolgee, I handled translations manually, which quickly became difficult to maintain as the project grew. Tolgee gave me a centralized and much more structured way to manage localization. Instead of editing translation files by hand, I could focus on development while keeping translations organized. It made the whole localization workflow significantly easier and less error-prone.

**Official Response from Baruš Urbanová:**

> We're thrilled to hear that Tolgee made application localization much simpler for you and allowed you to focus on building your project. We understand your preference for self-hosting, that's why it exists in the first place.

Also, for adding more features into your self-hosted instance, there is always the possibility to add an on-premise licence and having the feature set that serves you best. When you hobby project grows into this stage, contact us anytime, we will figure this out together!

  ### 5. Constant Improvements, Strong AI Features, and Great Value

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Tolgee?**

Its constant improvements, its AI features and its price.

**What do you dislike about Tolgee?**

Some actions require too many clicks or keyboard commands, wich slows down the translation process.
Sometimes, the saving time is too high, which has a direct impact on the tool's performance.
Also, they could offer integrations with more tools.

**What problems is Tolgee solving and how is that benefiting you?**

UX/UI improvements, enhancements to translation memories and QA checks, which is helping us work better and more efficiently.

**Official Response from Baruš Urbanová:**

> Than you for your review! We are happy you enjoy constant improvements Tolgee goes through. We are really working hard on that, so it is very nice to see the real impact. 💕

Also, thank you for sharing your challenges with Tolgee. The response time is about to improve, because this is really hot topic in our office, we are working on that every day - you can see how we are doing on our public status page: status.tolgee.io.

And the integrations! I am literally so happy to hear that, because there is a Tolgee Apps interface coming out soon, which will allow anyone to create his/her own integration into any tool, so the connection of Tolgee with outer world is really going to accelerate.

So stay tuned and happy translating!

**What do you like best about Tolgee?**

It provided us with Great Translation Experience for our multiple Apps, Environments and Languages. Very easy to use and implement and we can integrate it with different versions and apps, including the web and mobile apps. We use it everyday to track the strings and translation texts.

**What do you dislike about Tolgee?**

Limited features but still we have what we need.

**What problems is Tolgee solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us translate and also track the history of the strings. UX is also very good.

**Official Response from Baruš Urbanová:**

> Thank you for your review! We are happy to hear that your experience has been good even with a limited feature set. I believe that the amount of features has grown significantly since this review has landed here.

But still, if you are missing anything specific, let us know via e-mail or our Slack community. We always collect what our customers need most and decide what goes on the roadmap based on our customers needs.

Nothing, it's just a good service, it does what promises to do and without any "overpriced" feature. We really need more company like this one

**What problems is Tolgee solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Make an no profit app multilanguage easily and with really low efforts

**What do you like best about Tolgee?**

Tolgee is simple to use and setup, with an intuitive UI for translation.<br><br>For us it was particularly important that we can manage translation extraction ourselves, without a third-party system like Tolgee. Thankfully, Tolgee allows you to do this easily. There is a CLI tool that allows you to integrate it seamlessly with the CI.<br><br>Customer support and their Slack channel is quite responsive.

**What do you dislike about Tolgee?**

The translation extension for in-app translations only works if you use Tolgee's system for key management.

**What problems is Tolgee solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tolgee helps manage translation keys and multiple languages in an intuitive UI, with developer friendly tooling for CI/CD

  ### 9. Cheap and fast way to get auto-translations for your apps

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Current User:** The reviewer uploaded a screenshot or submitted the review in-app verifying them as current user.

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Tolgee?**

Totally designed for developers, as it has implemented several frameworks (VUE, Angular, React...) to accelerate the implementation process, which is great. If you want to self-host it, you can and it's "free" (if you consider your time and resources free). Fee is reasonable, counting it's not human translation.

**What do you dislike about Tolgee?**

If you need more than machine-made translation, they don't offer this service (yet). For "simple solutions" like a website (i.e. WordPress site) implementation maybe it's quite complex. It's a product for SaaS/apps developers (which it's not really a bad thing).

**What problems is Tolgee solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're thinking to deploy our app to another country, and for showcasing the app without hiring someone and implementing a translation system it's a great and cost effective alternative.

  ### 10. Really good tool for translations

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Tolgee?**

The Taglee has a lot of advantages. First of all, I want to speak about the price. The Taglee is very cheap, integrated with i18n libraries, easy to use, and fast. This tool translates accurately. It's excellent services.

**What do you dislike about Tolgee?**

I mostly like this tool, but I have several concerns. The initial setup is a bit confusing, and I asked for help to support it. Also, it's missing integration with APIs.

**What problems is Tolgee solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Tolgee to translate the most important texts of my application correctly. Also, error messages and other texts it is very easy to use. The only thing you need is to upload translations and save them.

  ### 11. Easy to use tolgee

Hiring translators only for translation of one project is costing and using this tool helps
