But since using Timely, we are able to and use it as a reference for similar future projects. ### 2. The Android app doesn't track any activity other than recording when you use the timer feature, so sometimes it misses when I take a call on my phone or when I'm responding to Slack messages during my "off" time. (My workaround is to make sure all that time is recorded on my calendar, since all of my calendar events get recorded in Timely automatically.) **Recommendations to others considering Timely:** Timely automatically tracks your time for you, so you can focus on the work you do. Being able to pull custom reports for different projects is great for client billing and getting a sense of how you're spending your time on each project. **What problems is Timely solving and how is that benefiting you?** I knew that my consulting time was being eaten up by admin time (email, meetings with clients, etc.) but wasn't able to accurately see how much until I started using Timely. Also, being able to track both work and personal projects when I'm using my computer shows me when I think I'm "off" work but actually still checking emails/Slack. It has made me more conscious about overcommitting myself to clients and about my own work-life balance because now I have the data to show for it. ### 3. I just have to log in and review the drafts that are mostly accurate in every aspects of the work I do and apps i use. It automatically categorizes apps under various categories and logs time respectively, The AI is fantastic. ### 4. I have it installed on 3 platforms -- iphone, droid, windows. I use it together with Dewo. If my wettest dreams come through, this app and my accounting platform Fiken (fiken.no) will be compatible soon. My life will be even more convenient. **What do you dislike about Timely?** Minor gripe with the location tracking that require me to cross reference with my timeline at google maps. Also the jump back (should rather remember where you was last) in the timeline whenever you have logged hours for a project, gets a little tedious when I'm doing my end of month report. It would have gotten a perfect 10 from me otherwise. **Recommendations to others considering Timely:** Let it record everything, it's your data in their cloud, not the other way around. Protecting your data is one thing, but if Timely isn't allowed to monitor, convenience will suffer. **What problems is Timely solving and how is that benefiting you?** Finding out how much time I'm spending on different project, tasks, time use within apps and web/cloud platforms. Reports are plenty and easy to export, making it very usable for a lot of projects. **What do you dislike about Timely?** The tags and tag-system is not great. I hate that I have to enable tags for each project. **Recommendations to others considering Timely:** For a consultant, Timely is an amazing tool. It's super quick to record your hours and keep them logged with notes and tags to easily identify the work afterwards. Even if you need to export the hours and fill them in to another system afterwards, like me, Timely makes it much easier to remember what you did at the end of the day, or week! **What problems is Timely solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have multiple clients that I work for, it makes it super quick and easy to switch between clients and log time for just those clients. ### 8. But given its benefits, I'm happy to pay. **Recommendations to others considering Timely:** Pay for it. Everything is very simple and intuitive, many features available, and the support channel is SENSATIONAL. Sorting for an entire day can be done in less than five minutes - much faster than trying to remember how long you worked on a specific client's task. Reports are so easy to run and projects are easily monitored - especially for client billing on limited hours! **What do you dislike about Timely?** If you use the same programs for multiple projects the auto-sort can end up sorting them wrong for you - this is easily fixed by just removing the auto-sort projects and doing it yourself; while this does take a little bit more time, it is still less than other time tracking systems. Overall there is not much that I dislike about Timely, their team is great and the software is so easy to use! **Recommendations to others considering Timely:** Just do it - it's worth the money and keeps you from having to remember what client you worked on and how long it took you. **What problems is Timely solving and how is that benefiting you?** It prompts to remind you about meetings that may have run long, and the log of all of the tasks helps ensure that time is accurately billed for work completed on a client's project. Additionally, as an admin you can view individuals on the calendar and see who did not bill for time on a day, or how many hours they are billing out - giving you insight to amount of billable work being accomplished by the team. ### 27. It's non obtrusive and sometimes I even forget I have it installed until I get a notification to update my timesheet. I love that it learns as you use it to avoid repeating same information in the future. They are also constantly updating and improving the app. In my recent experience with their customer service, their response is great and they go an extra mile to follow up to make sure your concerns were addressed comprehensively. **What do you dislike about Timely?** Being a freelancer, I initially found it to be a bit costly but over time, I have seen its usefulness. Occasionally on Mac I would notice a spike in power usage but I'm yet to evaluate the recent update. **What problems is Timely solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am able to capture time that previously I was not. It has also helped me change my habits by helping me analyze time spent on things that were not necessarily productive. ### 28. This feature means that I can sit down at the end of the day and make easy time entries for time I would have otherwise forgotten about - all without trying to keep notes during the day. **What do you dislike about Timely?** I would like to be able to create a new project directly from the new time entry button, but that’s only a minor thing. I just have to remember to create a new project first. **Recommendations to others considering Timely:** When you undergo a trial period, do it on iPad with the Memory App add-in installed. You will never look back. **What problems is Timely solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a sole-charge lawyer, I was letting a lot of chargeable time slip by because a call here and there or an email here and there kind of didn’t feel too important. My boss wanted to see from time to time how many hours I worked on the respective projects. This is where I came across the time tracking tool Timely. It is highly precise in recording: Every single minute in every program on my iMac can be recorded accurately. The AI is getting better and better at automatically assigning the working hours to the projects I worked on. I haven't been able to try it out much on mobile yet, and unfortunately, our phones cannot be paired with it yet, so I still have to manually enter these times into Timely. **What do you dislike about Timely?** The records are already so precise that it's almost insidious, because everything can be traced exactly, even watching a YouTube video during a break. It really feels like Big Brother! That's why I also avoid all private Googling and thus work exclusively and focused on the projects (to my advantage). **Recommendations to others considering Timely:** Price/performance is optimal! It saves time in which I can work, and time is money. **What problems is Timely solving and how is that benefiting you?** I need less time to remember my hours in notes and don't forget any working hours, and I am also much more precise. Ok, it seems to time all gmail emails as taking 1 minute - I have to manually adjust this but not really an issue. **Recommendations to others considering Timely:** Just do it - you will reap the benefits **What problems is Timely solving and how is that benefiting you?** I run a small accountancy practice and it is essential for the running of my business to see which clients are draining too much time, at the cost of other clients who require less support. I have always been useless at keeping manual timesheets. I tried Toggl last year, because it had a start-stop timer, however, if remembering to start the timer was a chore, remembering to stop it after finishing a task proved impossible and I was constantly receiving notifications saying "your timer has been running for 8 hours". I spend a lot of the day moving from one task to another - a phone call here, responding to an email for a different client there, then starting a task and getting sidetracked by another issue. It is impossible to keep an accurate log of my time manually. With Timely, I have gone from having no idea how my time was being spent, to having accurate - to the minute records of every task completed. I have each project colour coded and export a report at the end of each week. The results have been eye opening and I will shortly be increasing some clients' fees, having now seen in black and white (colour actually) how much time is being wasted / unbilled. ### 31. When we're very busy, we don;t always check that Memory is tracking and then we come back to update timelines and there is no tracking.
