Per the title, the best part about Thrive is the people. Not only are they genuinely pleasant and experts in their fields, but they are also more than happy to share their advice, guidance and opinions on the best way to achieve the business objectives - which during our implementation was greatly appreciated.
The platform is solid, if a little buggy - it does 90% of what we need it to do, and I have faith in the Thrive product team and roadmap. As a platform to enable learners to discover useful learning content, it's top-notch, and they've somehow managed to strike the perfect balance between allowing users to choose what they want to learn while still allowing for a curated experience that nudges the learner in the right direction.
The fact that Thrive makes learning a social experience has been a real game-changer for us - our learners are all helping each other out, giving each other advice and tips, forming connections and celebrating with one another, which is obviously excellent.
Some of our users get very involved in the gamification element of the platform, which is nice.
Overall, if you want a platform with a learner-centric philosophy based around micro-learning that enables skills discovery, allows learners to learn from each other, and helps learners explore how they can improve and further develop, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. As mentioned, the platform is somewhat buggy - this causes small annoyances, although generally these get resolved pretty quickly.
While the learner user experience is stellar, the admin user experience can get very tedious and error-prone at times - when sifting through hundreds of notifications to find the relevant ones, when creating events manually (we have about 10 in-person or online events each week), and when trying to keep all users updated (we don't use their user provisioning webhooks nor SSO options).
Reporting and BI functionality does not exist in any meaningful sense, and the APIs leave much to be desired both from a design perspective and from a functional perspective. They offer a Data Lab product to shore up these weaknesses, although it does cost extra money.
The Search functionality could be better, although, that's probably partly due to how much learning content we have available.
Overall though, it's been a real quantum leap for our learners - the downsides do not at all outweigh the overwhelmingly positive impact Thrive has had on our learners in the short period of time we've been live for. If any of the above concern you, I would advise you reach out to the Thrive team to check for an update, as they do have a very active product team and so the above concerns may well have been patched by the time you read this.
