ThingWorx Mashup Builder optimal for developing low and medium complexity screens effortlessly with minimal code. It offers a complete set of UI widgets, tools and extensions that enable development using a drag-and-drop interface, including standard data visualization charts, grids, and forms, and collaboration tools like blogs, wikis, etc. For highly complex UI requirements, you can utilize the ThingWorx using REST APIs as the back-end layer to connect with a more flexible UI component outside ThingWorx, eg: any JS framework like AngularJS or ReactJS. Connectivity to device is simple and enabled using connection services. Multiple connectivity options are available, including third party device clouds, direct network connections, Open APIs, and ThingWorx AlwaysOn connectivity using the ThingWorx Edge MicroServer. So when dealing with processing large magnitude of data, you will have to rely on vertical scaling limits. However this will be resolved in the 9.0 release which will have clustering feature. ThingWorx doesn't provide standard tools for Build & Deployment, and Code analysis/coverage, which are good-to-have from a developer perspective. Thus when building complex applications, validating and promoting code between dev and productions systems has to be carefully managed. Also while ThingWorx Mashups can now be styled using CSS, performance improvements are needed for loading and managing the style files. Its so easy to get real-time data and present them in real-time dashboards. Another thing is less coded, more productivity. We have to write less code and mainly need to perform drag and drop design. Inheritance across entities is a great feature. When visualizing the data, I find state formatting so useful. The support group is good about answering questions and trying to help keep a project or implementation moving forward. This is an early mover platform and as a lot of history behind it and ability to connect and leverage it in many different ways. **What do you dislike about ThingWorx Industrial IOT Platform?** Our main issue with the platform had to do with trying to use it outside of what ThingWorx envisioned. In our case we were working with several different partners on a solution, and we would find we could deliver about 90% of the use case, but then we would be boxed in and find ourselves needing to reach out to support. In some cases we needed to create some painful workarounds, or write code that we would never have written otherwise. **Recommendations to others considering ThingWorx Industrial IOT Platform:** ThingWorx can be a great platform to use if your use cases fall within the range of scope that ThingWorx considered. Things get a little more dicey when you want to perform your own customization and have a certain way of providing solutions. This isn't unique to ThingWorx, it just so happened that the it was more difficult to implement what our customer wanted to do around ThingWorx. It was a combination of security hardware from one partner, networking from another, and customer software built around ThingWorx.
