## The Trade Desk Reviews
  ### 1. The Trade Desk - Behavioral audience targeting at its strongest

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2019

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Obviously, via my title for this post, they have probably one of the most extensive audience targeting otions in their platform. If you can't find an audience to target within their platform, they probably don't exist. They also have amazing account and trader people that are there to answer and help you navigate any problems you may be having for the platform as well as tips to use it most efficiently.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Contextual site targeting an the Long Tail - it literally hides 50% of you actual conversions so it's impossible to tell what sites are converting most efficiently. Yes, there is a separate conversion report which gives you a ton of insightful data, but you have to pull it separately and it does not also provide the costs to go along with the media that converts, so the long tail insights that you may or may not want to add to a site list based on performance, are impossible to tell. Also, for contextual targeting, there are so many stronger DSP's, some without any minimums, that give you a much better comprehensive idea about what site's are in a given category, URL and even full URL and what their average CPM clears for and the SSP's that each site sells against. They developed this "predictive clearing" price "selling feature" as more and more sites are going to 1st price exchanges, which is great - but relying on a DSP to know the pricing for inventory just what a trader can know and optimize for given their dependence on "bid factoring" vs. CPM price adjustment - sets traders at a clear disadvantage with being knowledeable and most efficient in their tradings vs. giving the DSP more profit for theiir terms vs. a brands needs and CPA strategy. Also, the new megagon format is absolutely a backwards trend and counter intuitive to helping traders be more efficient in their work flow and targeting ability. Before Megagon, you could easily skim over an ad group's settings "without the process of downloading an excel sheet) to ensure everything was in check. Now with Megagon, you are no longer able to have a contextual ad group targeting both categories and top sites within a paticular industry and have to separate them ve. general category vs. keyword categories, vs. site lists...which I imagine is a cost saving nature for them, as most DSP's researched we've discovered you need to create separate groups for these things - but it now no longer separate them from the pack.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We provide a complete managed service solution for agencies out there that don't want to get into the weeds and prefer focusing on the bigger topline strategies. The Trade Desk provides a great platform and a great topline user interface (for pacing, budget management) and extensive access to data targeting along with their high QPS rate which increases the odds of winning a greater percentage of inventory for our clients.

  ### 2. Superior media-buying platform!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2019

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

The UI is easy to navigate, it doesn't take very long to learn how to use it.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Nothing I can think of at the moment. Things are great!

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are helping companies target decision makers with ads.

  ### 3. The Trade Desk Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2019

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

TTD makes media buying so simple! Instead of going the traditional networks route, it is a much simpler way to do direct buys at an efficient speed.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

I dislike the lack of interpersonal relationships by handling media buys this way. However, that is the downside of going traditional vs modern.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are helping our clients optimize on ad spend more efficiently, by being able to work directly in the platform to find premium inventory.

  ### 4. Great platform, would be greater with a couple of tweaks!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2018

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

TTD interface for campaign management and audience forecasting has a lot to offer. Importing first party audiences as well as searching through third party audiences is really convenient and intuitive, as is adjusting settings to get forecasts. Campaign management has recently become really quick and convenient as well due to megagon and other new features. Really appreciate the quick responses on TTD staff's part whenever an issue is encourntered. Automating campaigns is easy, and even people who aren't usually hands on keyboard can be taught forecasting and basic management quickly.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

One of the biggest disadvantages convenience wise, is that the forecasting settings reset anytime the page is closed or refreshed. Makes forecasting take a while. The numbers are often slow to update as well forcing you to refresh and start over. There is no way to import a large amount of DMAs and save them as far as I know. Most of the disadvantages of the platform are convenience based.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TTD helps making Programmatic campaign management easier and faster, so smaller teams can run several campaigns at the same time. It also improves the accuracy of forecasting to get clients on board with targeting tactics, and helps with advanced features such as look-alike builds and optimizations.

  ### 5. The Trade Desk

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2019

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

We use the trade desk as an audience extension and retargeting product to ease up oversold inventory on site. We use TTD offerings very minimally however for what we need it works perfectly.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Reporting doesn’t work when you try to pull for a specific date range which can complicate billing for long campaigns.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lack of inventory and availability on site. TTD helps us to hit goals at a lower CPM than buying traffic on site while still reaching our audience.

  ### 6. Great Programmatic Display Solution

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2019

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Ease of setup and bulk editing changes if needed. Customer service is also great.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

The reporting interface is clunky. It can take awhile to pull specific reports and then can not be easy to understand.

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

Give it a try, their customer service team is great about helping when you have a question.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Driving awareness to all of my clients within my portfolio through display advertising.

  ### 7. Great Data Management Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2019

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

I love the selection of third-party data Trade Desk provides, along with options for a flat fee or a percentage fee. The simplicity makes adding targeting to any campaign extremely easy.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Finding and adding first-party data isn't as simple as it is for third-party data.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps us conduct business by purchasing third-party data for targeting our client's programmatic advertising campaigns.

  ### 8. Tons of 3rd Party Data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2018

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

The Trade Desk has phenomenal account reps and customer service and their DMP has all the data partners your heart could desire. I work within a fairly niche vertical and the 3rd party providers our company has to choose from is remarkable.

They were also the first to partner with our preferred data vendor

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

I wish it were less time consuming to push custom segments to their DMP. But this is not the fault of the Trade Desk, but rather the reality of cookie matching audiences.

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

Don't hesitate to reach out to TTD their staff are very friendly and they are very upfront about the benefits and limitations of their product. I really enjoy working with them and recommend them to anyone looking for an Enterprise level DMP

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

targeting our ads to a very niche audience quickly by using a combination of 3rd party data providers and their own tech to optimize audiences, ad delivery, reach, etc.

Really enjoy working with them.

  ### 9. Industry-leading in terms of customer service, this partner-agnostic platform is a trader's dream.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick S. | Director - Integrated Media Planning, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2017

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Bid-factoring is one of the more useful tools a trader could ever have. It may not be unique any longer with DBM now offering, but it definitely helps to cut down on the need for intense granularity of ad group setup. TTD appears to be almost entirely partner-agnostic, as they truly run the gamut with a multitude of data providers, suppliers, tech players, brand safety leaders & more.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

There are certain nuances for targeting that are somewhat misleading that make it easy to make mistakes at times. For example, I can think of the "Continue Bidding" feature, which we've seen confuse more junior traders more often than not. As a senior trader, I understand the need for this feature, but I believe it could be worded differently to avoid any potential confusion. Maybe a help icon that expands to a help description when clicked upon?

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

Don't be afraid to make suggestions on UI improvements, ask for better support & lean on support for day-to-day stuff. Although the platform is already well fleshed out & TTD is focused on self-service, it never hurts to ask for more support.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problem: They are definitely a solid performer across all KPI categories, but you could say that they don't excel in one particular area because they're trying to do it all.

Benefit: Because they work with a variety of partners across the industry and handle cross-channel buying very well, it makes it easy for traders to simply use their DSP as a one-stop shop versus having to log into multiple platforms for different things. Great for small trading desks or startups with little bandwidth!

  ### 10. Good DMP for 3rd Party Data

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2018

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Easy to search and create plans using many 3rd Party Data Partners. I really like the whitelabled data - we see cost efficiencies using the % of media payment model.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

The interface is a little clunky. Sometimes the search functionality gets buggy and you have to refresh.

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

This product requires lots of hands-on management and there is definitely a learning curve to ramp up knowledge/expertise.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use The Trade Desk DMP power programmatic campaigns that we do not have existing user lists for. We are planning on activating more first party data, but we have not yet ventured down that path.

  ### 11. Great Interface

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Everything is organized nicely and easy to find. Optimization’s are very simple

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

The new megagon update makes the ad group level difficult

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is very easy to troubleshoot PMPs and determine whether issues are coming from creative, publishers, bids, etc. it makes campaign set up much easier

  ### 12. Easy to use interface

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2018

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Easy to use and has a good flow. If you're new to the system you can learn it quick. The UI is up to date and has everything sectioned off appropriately.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Wish there was more detailed reporting and had more graphs

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Media buying and planning media

  ### 13. TTD Review

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2018

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Customer service is great. Other than that I am not a huge fan. It's a clunky tool with a TON of technical debt. It's impossible to navigate if you are a newbie and the training provided is basically useless, unless you want to drop $1K on the academy.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Pretty much everything. It's really hard to navigate, super confusing and they push through updates / change things without letting users know so you have to basically relearn the platform every few months.

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

Bring in an expert to help get your team familiar wih it because the Trade Desk team isn't very helpful, the training is a screenshare with your rep, who is typically sitting in a cube surrounded by hundreds of people talking / yelling loudly. The rep blows through everything without any explanation and then says times up after a half hour.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Efficiently buy display programmatically. Benefits are minimal outside of the fact that it solves the negotiation aspect of media buying.

  ### 14. My Trade Desk experience

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2018

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

The tracking integration with the 4 main attribution providers is very simple.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

When bidding on a campaign I don't like having to select "stop bidding" to stop bidding on placements.

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

Have campaigns ready to go live.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to achieve lower CPAs using The Trade Desk than with other DSPs.

  ### 15. Awesome support team! High quality reporting features!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2017

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Our agency's support team is awesome. They came down to visit us for 2 days and walked through the new MyReports feature, as well as got to know our digital team more. I love the many reporting features and the high quality metrics we can provide to our clients.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

I dislike that it is down for maintenance and sometimes it just will not pull certain reports due to bugs and errors. Also, the quality of the sites when not using a private market place inventory can be low.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our clients love the enhanced reporting features. We are able to do more advanced targeting for client campaigns and they are extremely pleased with the results. It is also a plus that we can set up all campaigns quickly by ourselves as an agency, which makes it beneficial for a fast-paced agency with quick turnaround times and tight deadlines.

  ### 16. Intuitive and User Friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea S. | Media Planning Director, Marketing and Advertising, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2018

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

One of the easiest to use self-service platforms I have used. Intuitive and user friendly

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Audience Predictor lookalike modeling is not that great. Would like to be able to build more robust LAL models using their algorithm.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to have visibility into campaign performance and optimizations.

  ### 17. Great DSP, Many integrations and pushes transparency

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2017

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Easy to use interface. TheTradeDesk believes in Bid Factoring, and so targeting your audience is made easy and effective!

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Name recognition with clients who believe that Google is the end all be all becomes a challenge. However there is very little about the platform I do not like.

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

If you are looking for a great DSP who is a great partner to your brand/agency, TTD is for you!

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use theTradeDesk as our primary DSP to purchase ad space for our clients. They provide us with a wide amount of inventory options and data targeting partners

  ### 18. Bid multiplier strategies

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2017

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

I like a lot some of the features of TTD especially the bid multiplier that allows you to change automatically the bid in the same strategy depending on some factors as the country/region, device... Also I love the way they classified the 3rd party audience vendors specifying the volume they have each cluster for any country.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

It has often technical problems and the reporting is something to improve. Also the volume you can access is less than the reach in other DSPs

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Is a good option for combine with other platforms using it as a secondary DSP

  ### 19. The best performance platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Capital Markets | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2018

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

The forcasting tool that helps to visualize your campaign before it runs

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Theres not posibilities to use dynamec creatives

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Definitely is the platform that helps to improve performance

  ### 20. Strong, intuitive, smart platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2017

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Easy to use platform with many best-in-class integrations

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Wish pricing was a bit lower; Otherwise happy!

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

Be sure to leverage lowered data costs

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Strong algorithms for DR-based campaigns

  ### 21. Excellent interface, strong reporting outputs and great support teams!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2016

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

TTD's platform has been very easy to use. The way the DSP and DMP interfaces work together is very seamless. The fact that they've build the platform to be bid factor based makes it much better than other DSP platforms I've used. The detailed pre-formatted exportable Excel reports cut down on so much wasted time! Their account management and support staff is knowledgable, friendly and quick to respond. The detailed conversion reports are extremely robust without the need for expensive or cumbersome log file reports.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

I wish the in-platform charts were more customizable (i.e., being able to choose a very specific date range vs just last 7-days, MTD, etc). The knowledge portal could be more robust, as I often have to get answers from the account management team vs finding them myself.

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

If reporting outside of a platform is important, the Trade Desk is hard to beat!

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My business was trying to prove that Display can be a viable channel for driving new and repeat users of our service. In just 9 weeks we've shown the incrementally Display brings to more lower funnel channels like SEM, SEO, CRM, etc.

  ### 22. Trade Desk Programmatic Buying Platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kathryn V. | Digital Account Manager, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2015

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

The Trade Desk has an incredibly user-friendly interface which makes it a powerful tool for programmatic buying. My favorite part, the combined pivot report which can be exported at the campaign or ad group level, displays the data in a client-friendly view. The report makes it easy to identify optimization opportunities at a glance, or you can dig deeper with the raw data. There are so many different ways to look at the data TTD collects, you could spend hours digging through it. Depending on what your advertiser's goals are, different viewpoints could prove to be incredibly powerful for you and your team.

Also, TTD recently rolled out Private Marketplace partnerships, where you can either utilize pre-negotiated deals that TTD has set up OR you can negotiate with the site/channel on your own and implement with TTD by using a "Deal ID".

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

The only thing I think Trade Desk could improve upon would be the "Wiki Help" section. It has very short answers set up in a conversation format, which aren't very helpful when you're looking for a solution. I typically reach out to our rep when I've exhausted the Wiki Help resource, and end up taking a portion of their time to answer the question.. Which could all be avoided if they had a more substantial help section.

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

Utilize your Trade Desk rep as much as possible. They can connect you with TTD "traders" who manage campaigns for multiple clients at a time, and use that experience to assist you with your goals as well. They can run through any report and point out optimization opportunities, or they can identify different opportunities in the actual UI to save money or achieve those goals more efficiently.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By utilizing the Trade Desk, I'm able to leverage their tools, targeting, and third-party to maintain business goals for a variety of clients - all at a cost-efficient scale.

  ### 23. Quantcast Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2016

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

That you can host your own internal DSP through Tradedesk.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Nothing specific that I dislike since we are still new using it. But others in my agency have used the Tradedesk and results aren't always up to par with others but not terrible

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

N/A

  ### 24. New structure model

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos E. | Programmatic Leader, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2016

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

The bid multiplier let you make a lot of diferent configurations in only one strategy. And the way for configure it is quite easy

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Some tecnical assets are not well solved, and the report dashboard is not really functional.

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

You need to study how to apply the bid multiplier configuration.

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we have to give more formation to the future traders, because is has a lot of possibilities and you to take them in consideration

  ### 25. The best bid system

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pablo G. | Senior Programmatic Trader, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 29, 2015

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Strategy structure using bid multipliers is really good in order to enhance our capaign results.

The Trade Desk lets us to use a Bid factor that allows to create complex strategies into one. Select a base CPM start the campaign and analyse the results. After that you can define new cpm values depending on the time, site,exchange... always in the same strategy, A good performance campaign could be done just in a single strategy.

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Conterxtual, 3th party and all the target information need to be done in a difficult way... all the target edition is slow and non user friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering The Trade Desk:**

The look of the DSP could be more "visual"

Targeting edition is not user friendly. Any change to save time would be apprecieted

**What problems is The Trade Desk solving and how is that benefiting you?**

NS

  ### 26. Best DSP out there

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2016

**What do you like best about The Trade Desk?**

Agnostic company, great data, awesome customer service, many integrations

**What do you dislike about The Trade Desk?**

Need to manually upload tags since no integration with ad server
