What do you like best about Tails?

Developed se by the ONION TOR Team with plenty of support material provided on their homepage - makes it easy for people to get started using it. Moreover, this is a light OS to take with you on your travels in a simple USB stick. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tails?

Privacy comes at the price of slower speeds while surfing/browsing on the internet, due to the very nature of how the TOR Onion browser works. But that should be already expected by users and I have hopes that this will improve with time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tails solving and how is that benefiting you?

I can use tails at computers that are available in hotels, for instance. Also, I can use tails at home whenever I wish to use a secure and private OS for surfing the web anonymously. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Tails?

I like the security of this system, the Live is perfect to work from any PC with any Internet connection, security is always the important thing, and when I need to connect from a PC that I do not use frequently start Tails from my USB memory without modifying the PC base system.

When I start Tails it automatically connects to the TOR network, with this I circumvent any restriction of the ISP or Firewall within the network and protect my IP address. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tails?

Tails is perfect, but it does not have an integrated VPN for greater control of my location, since TOR always assigns random IP addresses and it is necessary to connect from a specific location to transfer data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Tails:

This system is free and free, so you can trust your security 100%, I recommend you to always be safe where you are.

Internet is a wonderful place, but there is always a lot of danger regarding our data and personal things, with Tails forgetting about those problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tails solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use this system to connect from any protected site, sometimes I need to sit on a PC to check my personal things, but there are PCs that have viruses and with Tails I avoid these problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Tails?

It is a solid Linux distro that focuses on protecting customers' privacy and anonymity. It runs on a Live USB flash drive or DVD so there is no trace will be left behind after using it. It comes with software that focuses on security and privacy, such as Tor browser, VeraCrypt, KeePassX, GnuPG, Monkeysign, GtkHash, and more. And if you install Tails on a USB flash drive, you have the option to create a persistent encrypted volume to save your data and to install additional software - if you have enough free space on the USB flash drive. The installation of Tails is not as simple as the installation of other popular Linux distros (Ubuntu, Mint, Debian, etc.), but the official website of Tails has a step-by-step and easy-to-follow instruction on Tails installation. There is also an automatic upgrade mechanism to upgrade your USB stick to newer versions. If you are not ready to run Tails from either a USB stick or DVD, you can also install and run it in a virtual machine such as VirtualBox. Overall, it is a superb Linux distro and it is open source. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tails?

I hope there will be more network tools included, for instance, VPN is not supported but sometimes customers have to use VPN. Another issue is the system time is automatically set to UTC to protect users' anonymity, but it might be an annoyance to some users. Also, if you need to install additional language, you might find it hard to do. Another challenge is that the community of Tails is not as big as Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian or other popular distros, so when you have questions, it may take longer to find the answer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Tails:

If you are tired of being tracked by our ISP or other companies when you are online, you should give Tails a try. It is free and can protect your privacy and anonymity when you are connected to the Internet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tails solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Tails to protect my privacy and anonymity whenever I have the choice because I don't want companies to track my Internet usage and send me ads that I don't want to see. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Tails?

Tails is hands down the best Operating System if you are worried about Security. It's built on Linux and comes with everything you need to get up and running on the latest SecOPs Tools; Its literally plug and play.

Download it; Check the SHA Sum; Burn it to a USB drive; and boot from the drive. It will walk you through everything you need and you literally will be covered. It automatically connects you to TOR, so you don't need to know anything to have NSA level Security Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tails?

I dont like how you have to use two USB's to burn it to; i get why they do this; to ensure the operational security of the OS; but it should be optional. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Tails:

Keep a flash drive with tails on it for those just-in-case situations; you never know when you will need it.

This is something that is better to be prepared and have; then to be caught without. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tails solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tails solves multiple problems, business or personal. It allows us to travel domestically or internationally, in friendly or hostile environments, and use potentially unsecure computers (coffee shops, etc) and get a TOR connection right away, automatically, while TAILS doesn't do everything, it does alot with very little setup. I would recommend everyone have a flash drive with tails on it to use for any sensitive projects or communications where you need to ensure operational security. What do you like best about Tails?

Tails leaves no trace on the host computer so I am able to work on a computer that I don't own without leaving data behind. The small size of the operating system means it can easily fit on a flash drive and if you have some free space left on the drive, you can enable persistence to allow you to save files and settings. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tails?

Doesn't always shutdown cleanly. Sometimes it works fine, other times I have to force the shutdown. Either way, no data is left behind since it runs in memory. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Tails:

Having Tails installed on the HDD can defeat the purpose of leaving no data behind. You may want to consider just having it on a flash drive or external USB drive for increased security, just don't leave it behind in the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tails solving and how is that benefiting you?

Needing to access company files without needing to carry a company laptop around since the entire OS will fit nicely on a flash drive and if persistence is enabled, you can save some data back to the flash drive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Tails?

Tails is a complete sandbox environment which doesn't leak information out to your normal computing environment. It doesn't store any information, so no cookies, logs or cache are retained. Sending network traffic via Tor means that your data can't be eavesdropped on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tails?

Tails is only good for occasional use for high stakes privacy protection. Because no data is stored locally, you can't use it as a regular desktop environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tails solving and how is that benefiting you?

Tails protects while traveling in a hostile environment subject to censorship or monitoring. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
