## About Supernova
Supernova is a collaborative platform that helps product teams turn ideas into production-ready features while keeping design and development seamlessly connected. Built on one of the most advanced design system platforms, Supernova brings your designs, tokens, guidelines, and code libraries together in one collaborative environment. This ensures everything created with AI reflects your product’s real look, feel, and standards. Instead of switching between disconnected tools or recreating work from scratch, teams can explore concepts, iterate on prototypes, generate documentation, and export production-aligned code directly to their development environment - all while keeping everything continuously in sync. WHAT DESIGN SYSTEM TEAMS USE SUPERNOVA FOR: • Document design tokens, components, and assets for brand consistency. • Keep all design data from Figma and Storybook in one place to manage and automatically promote changes to the code-base. WHAT PRODUCT TEAMS USE SUPERNOVA FOR: • Explore and refine product ideas collaboratively with AI assistance to validate concepts before committing to development. • Search and understand design systems using natural language. • Auto-generate product specs, PRDs, and documentation, syncing them with Jira and other workspaces to ensure everything stays current with the prototype. • Export production-ready code via our MCP server integration for a smooth handoff from design to development, accelerating delivery. • Collaborate on features in threads, adding comments and reactions, and engaging your entire team for fast, actionable feedback. • Collect feedback on prototypes, validate hypotheses and get confident about the feature impact. WHO BENEFITS FROM SUPERNOVA: Product managers, designers, and engineers who want to move faster without sacrificing structure, collaboration, or product quality. Founded in 2018, Supernova began as a design-to-code bridge and has evolved into a complete product development platform trusted by thousands of teams worldwide. Supernova helps teams ship better products in less time, while staying connected every step of the way. FEATURES: Unified workspace - keep your team aligned during solution discovery. No more scattered tools or lost context. Built-in collaboration - explore features in threads, leave comments and reactions, and involve your team to gather fast, meaningful feedback. Interactive prototyping - prototype ideas and features collaboratively. Validate concepts before committing to development. Product document editor - generate product documents like PRDs, one-pagers, and specifications, and keep them automatically in sync with the prototype. Two-way sync - keep prototypes and product documents always up to date. Just mention them to an agent, and everything stays synchronized. Code export - export production-ready code using our MCP server integration for a seamless handoff from design to development. Design system integration - use your existing design system to maintain consistency across prototypes and documentation. Best-in-class design system platform - centralize design and code data in one place to empower designers and engineers with clear, detailed documentation. ## Supernova Reviews
  ### 1. Synchronization and good support. But with Visualization Challenges of the Tokens

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Supernova?**

I use Supernova to document component patterns and synchronize code tokens to Figma, which helps me have a single source of truth regarding synchronization with development. I really appreciate the synchronization of tokens and assets, which is very useful for my workflow. I also highly value the 24-hour support portal. The initial setup of Supernova was very simple, as I have used the tool before, and I like that it already comes with some pages created to explore the potential of all the blocks. Additionally, the support on Slack is super fast, which makes the product stand out among its competitors.

**What do you dislike about Supernova?**

The visualization of tokens is sometimes complex, as they do not appear the same as in Figma. If I have several typography modes, I cannot see them in Supernova, which forces me to create several blocks where the typographies are imported at different breakpoints, but no one understands it well because it doesn't look like in Figma. It is also not intuitive when variables need to be deleted; sometimes it doesn't allow it, and it would be great if a modal appeared informing how to delete them correctly. The SSO part was complicated; there were many issues because people couldn't log in with their email and had to create an account first with the company's email. This caused a loss of confidence in the product. The platform sometimes crashes and runs slowly.

**What problems is Supernova solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Supernova to document component patterns and keep tokens synchronized between code and Figma, which makes it easy to see which components are aligned with development and which are not. The synchronization of tokens and 24-hour support save a lot of time responding to messages.

  ### 2. Great documentation tool that is widely customizable to fits your needs.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Supernova?**

I use Supernova to be faster with generating JSON files and to ensure consistency between design and code. It's our main source of truth for design in the company, which I find to be a big plus. I appreciate that it is super flexible and really fast in building our documentation. I love that it's customizable so our devs can adjust the code output to meet their needs. I found setting it up initially really easy and I think the onboarding has improved recently, which is great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Supernova; I'd give it a solid 9 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Supernova?**

There've been some slowdowns when putting in documentation blocks or making a new build, which adds more weight to the process of modifying or adding pages. Tracking the usage of Portal Ask AI is also challenging since we don't know if people are using it or not. It’s hard to track adoption.

**What problems is Supernova solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Supernova to document our design system, automate Figma to JSON, and ensure design-code consistency. It's fast for JSON file creation and serves as our source of truth for building products.

  ### 3. Efficient Design System Management with Robust Features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Supernova?**

I like that Supernova is easy to learn, making it quick for us to become productive; we achieved this in just a few hours. I appreciate its flexibility with Datasets, which allows us to manage different systems, their assets, tokens, and file sources efficiently. The ability to manage multiple design systems is a plus, and the workflow is smooth and precise, especially since it's well integrated with our design software. Supernova also integrates decently with Storybook, which is helpful.

**What do you dislike about Supernova?**

Versioning is still something not always clear and prone to mistakes. With a large number of files to connect, the platform repeatedly had issues, and we had to rely on support to unblock. The asset tool doesn't manage variants, so for some use cases is not ideal (e.g. managing icons). We also encountered some limitations in the code automation, even if a developer would be more helpful with the details in this case.

**What problems is Supernova solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Supernova to organise, update, and publish our design system documentation, providing a centralised source of truth.

  ### 4. Great for getting your design system managed and documented quickly

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Supernova?**

It's a great framework for structuring your documentation in a coherent UI, and allows for a pretty well managed publishing flow with multiple users, as well as some useful tools to synchronise design and engineering. Out of the box you'll end up with a very decent site to inform consumers of your design system across multiple disciplines.

**What do you dislike about Supernova?**

It's a little boilerplate (though there are tools for customising many aspects), and a lot of features appear to be in the works rather than well established, so it feels slightly behind at times for an enterprise tool.

**What problems is Supernova solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We document our design system and display our components on the site, to instruct and provide information for designers, engineers, content designers, and other stakeholders.
