Summize Pros and Cons

I have been part of 3 different CLM implementations in prior roles, and Summize was easily the most seamless. I love that you do not need to log into a portal, or require your 3rd parties to log into a portal, in order to review/negotiate contracts; the system funcions the way a contract negotiation actually plays out in reality.

The Teams and Outlook ad-ins are also especially useful. I also really like the AI summaries and data extraction functionality.

The search functionality is not as reliable as I'd hoped.

The AI is not always great at extracting information (for example, pulling party names) but Summize is continously improving and seriously considers customer suggestions, that is far more than you'd get from most CLM providers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Very few tools are as easy to customise. This is very important for us as we provide services in multiple jurisdicitions and across different services.

The Create Tool has taken away the need for my team to manage minor commercial requests saving us a significant amount of time.

The AI writing assistant is money. It makes reviewing, editing and generating contract terms so much faster. Most of the time I know what I want to say but it can take time to come up with the right wording. The AI function makes it so much easier, and is usually pretty close to or on the nose of what I am looking for. It's also a great tool for "turning around" clauses: when there is a clause that favors the other side, and I want to either make it mutually beneficial or favor my client, the AI tool makes all the necessary changes faster than I ever could. The user interface platform can be kind of clunky. The most frustrating thing about using Summize is the fact that the Dashboard does not default to the view of requests specific to that user who has logged on, so we see every request and have to filter to get to our own. Also, I would really like a function where I can add edits/redlines/comments to a PDF file natively within the platform or a web-based platform through Summize, similar to what can be done with a Word doc. While I can convert PDFs to Word, for some kind of documents this doesn't work as well because of formatting issues, so it would be nice to have the ability to edit PDFs through Summize, rather than having to download, then reupload a new version. Our customer support manager regularly catches up with us, encouraging the use of different parts of the software package. We regularly use the software for contract storage, and there are a lot of really useful filters and tags to search within and organise. It's also really great that we can have different accessibility levels so many people in the business don't have to constantly ask for contracts. The team at Summize helpfully tagged-up documents for us for the Create tool, due to tech constraints within our business not allowing the download of the Word Add-In. There are some features, such as the AI contract summaries which can be irregular. Further, some things such as the Calendar, Notifications and Linked contracts can be difficult to implement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Summize is a very intuitive and easy to use tool that helps me manage hundreds of contracts in an automated and efficient way - its saved our very small legal team time and allowed all contracts to be actively managed throughout their lifecycle. Summize has an excellent Customer Success Team that faciliates regualr calls and are always happy to help where they can - further they keep us updated on lots of new features which they tend to rollout on a regular basis. One of my missions for 2024 was to search for ways to automate internal processes and to make our team member's day to day workflow more efficient. We have found one of those solutions with Summize, and I'm extremely satisfied with the promise it shows now, and while I haven't explored all of it's menu's and functionality to date, I'm excited for what it can do for us in the future! Every product that uses AI has limitations based on the generative learning ability of the specific AI platform being leveraged. Summize is no different in that aspect. I assume the ability to handle more complex AI prompts will grow as the Platform does as well. However, at this time, my own personal 'dislike' if I can call it that, would be the fact that I can't have more customization in terms of being able to rename certain menu choices to make them more relavent or use terminology more commonly used in our own company. That seems more of a 'personal preference' issue over pure functionality, but that is the primary pain point for me at this time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Summize is easy-to-use and makes the implementation process painless and efficient.
