  ### 13. Versatile IDE for Software Developers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Johnson P. | Software Developer Intern | Web Infra , Hospitality, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

Sublime Text is a text editor used for code editing, source control and other tasks. I use it on a daily basis and have found many amazing features of this program. The first feature I would like to talk about is the built in package control program or package manager. This feature allows you to easily install plugins and packages from within the editor itself rather than having to manually download each plugin or package you need separately. Another major feature that I like is the ability to save multiple versions of the same file, which is extremely useful when working on a large project with multiple developers. Another great feature is the ease of merging changes from multiple people into one file without having to send everyone the same version of the file, which can take a lot of time to manage.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

The only downside that I have noticed with this program is that it is a bit resource intensive on my laptop which occasionally causes my other programs to lag while I'm working so it can be difficult to work on other projects while I am editing. However, I have found that it is easy to overcome this issue by simply turning some of the programs off when I no longer need them.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The fact that all of these features are built into one program makes it even more convenient to use since you don't have to switch between multiple programs to accomplish various tasks. I end up saving a lot of time using this program since I can focus on the work I need to do rather than wasting time on unnecessary processes such as downloading and installing plugins. These features make the program far more user-friendly than I anticipated when I first started using it.

  ### 14. Best simple text editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Caique C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

I love its clean design and how it helps you edit code. It is perfect that the app keeps your files open for the next session even if you turn your computer off with unsaved changes.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

I miss having a "replace" and a "replace all" option when you search for words. Sometimes I need to use it for a simple code snippet or some short text, and I wish I could use Sublime instead of openning a file on VS Code.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick editing of simple text or creating and editing very simple code snippets for quick use. Also, take quick notes before I actually use that information somewhere else because I know I won't lose them even If my computer turns off unexpectedly.

It helps with the predefined keywords and tags while coding by just saving the file with the particular languages extension it automatically detects the keywords or tags which will come in handy.

  ### 20. Handy tool for software engineers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dhiya P. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

Sublime Text is the most intuitive software available for writing text and code. Its layout makes it convenient to write multiple lines of text as Sublime Text numbers each line by default, a feature missing from Notepad. When editing an existing text or code file, this comes in handy as you can identify which line you want to make changes in and locate it immediately. Sublime Text's syntax system can detect, read, and write any programming language. It also indents statements per the language's rules, an added benefit. Sublime Text is not just an IDE for editing but also writing. You can save the code you've written from scratch using the appropriate file format and save it in that programming language. For instance, I can save my file as a .js file, which will be saved as a JavaScript file. This makes Sublime Text an excellent IDE for a software engineer during code-writing sessions due to its vast support for many languages. When you close the main window without saving the file, Sublime Text saves the data within the file in the memory. So, when you open Sublime Text again, it shows you the unsaved data that you had closed so that you can save it properly.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

The UI could definitely use an overhaul to match today's standards and visual designs. Sublime Text looks like it hasn't been updated since the '90s, which can be a turn-off for many as the software looked outdated visually, albeit not performance-wise.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sublime Text is my go-to IDE for any use. As a software engineer, I prefer it to any other IDE for writing and editing code. It's light and straightforward and makes codewriting easier than it is. Java and JavaScript are two languages I use almost daily, and Sublime Text has been excellent for syntaxes and for alerting me of errors that I may miss. Besides programming, Sublime Text is great for writing notes, reminders, and lists and drafting emails and presentation prologues. Sublime Text's versatility in handling language makes it an excellent tool for software engineers in any field. The best benefit of this software is that it's open-source and completely free. Having relied on it for over a decade, I can recommend Sublime Text to everyone without a second thought, even if you're not using it to write code.

  ### 21. Lightweight text editor

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 31. Wings to Software Developer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gaurav N. | System Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

Sublime is a lightweight yet powerful tool for writing code and markup text, I can't really say the best in the market, but yes, it does the job, primarily when you code in Python. Also, I love the colorful themes; though it is very subjective, I prefer the colorful themes, and the bonus is the dark themes, which help to code in the night with less strain on my eyes.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

Majorly there are two points I will mention:
Firstly Installing plugins and packages are bit confusing.
Secondly, it's about the shortcuts; the shortcuts change according to the operating system, and it isn't enjoyable when there is frequent switching between the office laptop and the personal laptop.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sublime Text helps me to code faster and more efficiently, the quick suggestions are helpful, and hundreds of plugins make it easier to code. The team has been using Sublime Text for a long time and is comfortable with it; over time, the productivity has increased.

  ### 32. Great Code Editor For Developers, However it doesn't have an Inbuilt Terminal

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff Y. | Senior Business System Admin / Integration Developer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

It is a very user-friendly text editor and has an efficient interface. You can easily switch between windows and tabs and create new documents or folders at the click of a button. Also, you can access any file just by clicking its icon in the sidebar. It is very customizable and you can add a lot of plugins that extend the functionality of Sublime Text even further. You can find and install all the available plugins from the package manager. These plugins provide useful features like syntax highlighting, autocompletion, code formatting, etc. You can even write your own plugins using the Python programming language. Another great feature of Sublime Text is that it has multiple language support. Although it does not support as many programming languages as other editors like Visual Studio Code or Notepad++, it does support a wide variety of languages and development frameworks. Some of the popular languages that it supports include C++, Java, JavaScript, C#, PHP, Perl, HTML, C and C++.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

Sublime Text does not have an inbuilt terminal. While this might not seem like a big issue to some developers, especially junior developers, it is a major drawback for many people who prefer to work with the terminal instead of the GUI. There is no option to run commands directly from Sublime Text so you have to switch to a terminal window if you want to run any command line utility like Git. While Sublime Text has all the necessary features that you would expect from a good text editor, some of its features are not as intuitive as they could be. For example, the default key bindings are not optimal so you need to spend some time configuring them before you can start using them effectively. Also, the split view feature could be more customizable. It would be great if you could have the option to configure it to your liking instead of having to accept the default settings provided by the plugin.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sublime text has helped me become a better developer because it has improved my productivity, allowing me to work faster and get more work done in less time. It has helped me become more efficient by allowing me to perform common tasks like coding and refactoring more efficiently. Also, because of its advanced features like multiple language support and source control integration, it allows me to work on projects involving multiple languages and a variety of development frameworks. Overall, I would say that Sublime Text has been an excellent tool for me and has greatly improved my productivity and workflow as a developer.

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

Very easy to use. The environment is user-friendly. This would be a text editor that beginners could prefer. The auto indentation and color scheme are one of the best features.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

Even the interface is good. Auto recommendation or auto-completion of sublime text editor is not that good. Pair programming is not available with is also an downside.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Auto-correction needs to be improved. and Auto saving can be introduced.

  ### 34. Simple IDE

  ### 35. Great IDE for Developers

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

It makes editing and writing code easy and provides various plugins and extensions, which makes development easier. It can be easily customized. It has so many convenient features which make developing a product better.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

Its UI is a bit old-fashioned and can be modified. Installing extensions and plugins is a pretty hectic task. Also, it does not have an in-built terminal which is a huge negative.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Writing codes for the front end of the websites, its autocompletion saves lots of time. It increases the productivity of the developer. Its Remote collab feature makes collaboration easy.

  ### 36. Best easy to use Text Editor for Coders

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yugesh R. | Associate Data QA Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

Easy to use text editor with all the features. Better alternative to traditional text editors such as notepad and notpad++. I mostly use it to write codes as well as simple memos.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

I wish it had more customizable features and could integrate additional widgets in the software. I wish it had compare feature as well similar to notepad++ which could help me compare text between two files.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use sublime text as a text editor, notepad and primarily for editing and writing codes. It has definitely helped me excel in my day-to-day office job. A must have software for people working in data analysis. I use it to write python codes for automation and often use it as my default text editor before posting anything in redmine ( tool used by our company to communicate issues). Also, it helps me to compare the raw files received from client and check the default values before sending it for scrubbing process. It's also handy with the find and replace feature which i moslty use to change the default delimiter used from the file. Example: changing "|" delimited file to "," and so on.

  ### 37. Light weight and easy usability but very limited features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yash W. | Teaching Assistant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

Sublime Text is good in a few things. When working on a sizable codebase, the editor doesn't lag or crash while compiling. It's simple to customize and personalize the editor's entire environment and set it up to suit my needs. I adore how simple Sublime's user interface is. Their UI is aesthetic and very easy to understand for beginners. Sublime Text has a lot of plugin integration choices. Custom keybinding and built-in keybinding can both be used interchangeably without any problems.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

The presence of deprecated plugins in the most recent version of Sublime is absurd. It sometimes creates issues and doesn't work. Although they don't function, they are still installable. They cause the editor to lag or crash and are non-functional. Also, it is limited features as compared to VS Code. Sublime Text doesn't have a lot of integrations and we can't change things through the editor.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In comparison to VSCode and notepad++, I found Sublime Text to be much easier to use overall, beginner friendly, and it makes working with code much more straightforward and bug and crash-free. It is lightweight and workable environment for starters.

  ### 38. A lightweight text editor that packs a punch with its many hidden features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vikas D. | Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

This text editor is significantly lightweight in comparison to its competitors like Visual Studio Code or Atom. I appreciate its attractive appearance, complete with a stylish default color scheme. Its user-friendly interface and unique features, such as the capability to use multiple cursors and make multiple word selections at once, make it a standout choice. It is available on Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

The cost for a personal license is substantial, with no consideration for regional pricing. Additionally, the personal license is not valid for the lifetime of the product, meaning that you will need to make additional payments for future updates

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I utilize Sublime Text for both computer programming and as a text editor for my personal notes

  ### 39. Good text editor

  ### 40. Your one-stop-shop for editing!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Smitha S. | PHP Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

Sublime Text is the most suitable and versatile text editor I've ever used. There's no file type or format that it doesn't support. You can open, read, and edit any file easily. Sublime Text allows you to work on multiple files simultaneously and switch between them quickly through tabs. Alternatively, you can open two windows side-by-side and split the app window into two parts. Sublime Text can be used in any language for writing, editing, and compiling code. I've found Sublime Text to be the best editor for PHP coding and have been using it for many years. The visual design of Sublime Text is customizable, where you can change the theme, text color, font, and layout design. If you're used to lighter themes and not fond of the default dark theme, you can change it to your liking. The project management features are excellent in Sublime Text, especially if you have multiple files to work on. Similar to Visual Studio, you can have project folders open with sub-files to enable easier editing. In the case of MVC, this feature has been an absolute godsend. Line and column management in Sublime Text is convenient, so editing specific lines of code where there are errors has been a breeze since the get-go.

Sublime Text has an excellent package called RemoteCollab, which is an open-source plugin for remote programming. It allows several software developers to collaborate and contribute to the code simultaneously in real time. The plugin was quick to implement and required no additional set-up or tutorial. We were able to get used to it from the get-go and commit to working on our projects immediately.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

The only thing I dislike is the pop-up alert you get after every few saves asking you to buy a license for Sublime Text. But there's no incentive to buy the license other than to support the developers because the license doesn't offer any new features.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sublime Text is lightweight on my laptop, so I can run it during meetings without overloading the system. The built-in tools like autocomplete, autocorrect, and syntax checking greatly help during coding. They highlight trivial errors you're very likely to miss, which saves a lot of time manually debugging them before running the code. I also like that you can install packages to serve various purposes that aren't available from the get-go. You can get packages for free from the manager for many uses, such as language syntax, formatting, text manipulation, linting, etc.
Furthermore, Sublime Text offers Git integration with Sublime Merge, a Git client made by the developers of Sublime Text. You can use this to add your repositories to cloud-based ones like GitHub. For collaborations, this has benefitted my team and me immensely. The RemoteCollab plugin alone is a huge deal to our day-to-day usage of Sublime Text as it allows us to work together remotely even when we're not meeting in person. The most significant benefit of Sublime Text I've noticed is that it's cross-platform and can be used on any operating system. For developers who are more familiar with Linux and prefer it for coding, Sublime Text has an app you can download and use all of the plugins too.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Srinivas N. | Lead Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

The layout of Sublime Text is straightforward, which I like. It's a vast improvement over Windows' default Notepad program. Plus, it supports tabs and multitasking, so you can easily switch between multiple documents without losing your place. The syntax highlighting and indentation support for all programming languages are also very helpful. And the autocomplete tool is excellent for suggesting matching phrases or user-defined functions as you type. Overall, this IDE is fantastic for coding because it has so many incredibly convenient features and makes the coding process much smoother overall.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

I wouldn't say I like the sluggishness of Sublime Text's syntax detector and its occasional crashes. There is also much room for improvement in the application's user interface; for example, splitting the settings into a separate window and presenting them more intuitively would go a long way toward enhancing the user experience.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was using Sublime Text. This is a great editor because it is very flexible and can be used for multiple languages. Additionally, there are many plugins available that can make work much more streamlined.

The drawbacks it has invalid code detector. For code like CSS something it flags anything isn't a valid code type. It is a free software but it's popup property annoying to buily everytime.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sublime text is an overall good software buy they need to implement auto-recognize code type. It will be nice to have it to recognize what type in code without manually selecting everytime.

Sublime text has the option of adding new key bindings, which I found to be of great help, and it has the option to change themes or customise them according to us. It even has the option to wrap text, customisable syntax and whatnot.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

Sublime Text lacks only one feature for me, the option to compare two files or codes. Other than that, it is an excellent tool for me, and I don't have any other complaints about it.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sublime text is of great help to me as it provides auto-completion of syntax, which saves a lot of time and reduces coding errors. The option to find, replace and select multiple texts at a time also helps a lot in the fast editing of code

Sublime Text provides a user-friendly platform where any new user can quickly navigate through the features in order to write code that increases the productivity of the user, thus doing work to be done faster

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2022

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

I love the loading speed of Sublime Text. Although I use other programs like Visual Studio Code, whenever I have to jot something down, I use Sublime Text because of its loading speed. Truly unbeatable.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

To use it in an advanced way, you have to dedicate time and its learning curve is high. This is not the fault of Sublime Text, but is common to this type of programs.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Program to write notes quickly and edit code. I don't like Word-type programs that add formatting to files. Sublime Text does what I want and at the speed of light.

  ### 49. Best Text Editor. Period.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rishi G. | Data Mining Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Sublime Text?**

I love Sublime Text. It has everything one needs for the complete development of any kind of software. From the vast plugin support and highly customizable user interface to extensive community support, the editor comes with a bundle of awesomeness. I've been using Sublime Text for over six years and I've never been disappointed by it. It's a powerful, rich, and fast text editor.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

A couple of things that I wish Sublime Team would improve:

1) Indexing - It still lacks the ability to index the files quickly. Although there have been improvements made as the text editor loads and continues to index files without any interruption of the work, it also slows down the performance of the text editor.
2) Redundancy - Plugins are the backbone of Sublime Text, but I don't understand why plugins which were made for the earlier version of sublime (v1 and v2) are available to install in Sublime Text 4. They clearly don't work don't the latest build. It's a totally personal opinion.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I want a text editor to immediately fire up and be ready to work when I click on it, and sublime literally does that. I don't have to wait for it to load and it's something that has always brought me back to it. Working with large files, multiple folders, and different build systems - everything feels easy to do on Sublime. It's a fast, efficient, and extremely beautiful text editor.

3) Multi-language support.
4) Coding or reviewing codes is easy with a user-friendly interface and colorful coding.
5) As well as supporting many plugins, it also integrates well with other systems.

**What do you dislike about Sublime Text?**

It can be confusing to format a large document file.

**What problems is Sublime Text solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1) Mostly I am using sublime text for web development.
