In the beginning, I fell in love with their templates and strong documentation that even a newbie can figure out how to get their first site up and running. Works better with Gutenberg - so there you are - need to be ready with that as well..Can get complex and there is a definite learning curve. overall, if I recommend keeping the blog with simple features and more as a traffic and SEO puller. While StudioPress improved their base theme, the themes designed by others were oftentimes not kept up with. This meant that websites built using certain Genesis themes were not updated, and although, as a web designer I know how important it is to update your website every couple of years, this is just not something many clients are willing to do. Using their readily-available child themes, I can stand up new sites for clients in a matter of hours. Developing sites from the ground up can often be done in a week or two, start to finish. The Genesis framework is regularly maintained (especially now that it's been acquired by WPEngine), has an abundance of developer documentation, and has never given me any trouble.
