**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Can quickly build and deploy basic reports and dashboards.
Powerful and extensible when it works.

Very buggy. Much functionality does not work as advertised or requires significant amount of work around
Patching replaced by quarterly upgrade cycle
Upgrades take 3-6 weeks.
Prime does not live up to the marketing. Scalability of in-memory analytics does not live up to marketing.
In-memory cubes do not scale well to larger data sets
Rigid presentation layer for organizing cubed attributes
Memory leak found in in-memory cubes, only solution provided by support was to upgrade platform
Top tier support provides no solutions, serves more as an entry point to their paid professional services
Lack of Continuous Integration

Very difficult to customize - SDK is difficult to work with and documentation is insufficient to support
No adaptive-responsive views

  ### 6. A complete enterprise BI Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francesco M. | Owner and BI/Data Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

MicroStrategy backend is a warhorse.

The SQL engine (the component that generates the SQL code for reports) is very smart and has a lot of setting to adapt to your database to improve performances.

Security is strong and flexible, user can have access to different reports/dashboards or to the same object but allowed to see only part of the data.

The plugin architecture allows to add new functionality or to integrate MicroStrategy with your environment.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

In the last version they improved the front-end for data exploration, but they are still behind Tableau. Much nicer than other tools.

Sometimes you can find annoying bugs that you wonder how they didn't catch before (the new quarterly release programs should help here).

The tool added a lot of functionality in the last few years, but how to use/implement them it's a bit complicated, the added new functionality but the had to build them on top of the old interface.

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

Get someone with experience to help you.

Use the MicroStrategy community to have help to solve your problems.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building dashboards and reports for users from C levels to the new accountant. The new Dashboard capability is much more customizable and it looks awesome.

Prototyping from a simple db query is very quick and it helps a lot.

The MicroStrategy capability to be db agnostic allows us to use different databases, we are now exploring the hadoop space with MicroStrategy.

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Allows for automation, ability to enhance workpapers.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

You have to be very specific on what you want.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tax adjustments

  ### 8. Best enterprise BI platform I was used

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

I worked on lots of BI tools, such as <icrostrategy, Tableau, SAP BO, Crystal report, SSRS, Cognos and so on. Overall, Microstrategy is the best platform, especially after you worked long time and dig deeper into the functionality and flexibility with each of those tools. MSTR provide smart and flexible analytical engine which save you a lot of energy and generate good performance SQL when you design the schema correctly. Thanks for architecture of MD and EM data warehouse, you can maintain the system very easy, trace the user/report stats in very detail level. Their SDK is another advantage which make it different with other tool, which make it possible for almost all customization requirement -- which with less effor than other BI tool. Furthermore, the security/privilege control functionality of MSTR is comprehensive and well designed. It makes this platform very stable and reliable

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

the functionality of visualization. It's not always easily use and user friendly. The cost of the license is somehow higher than it's competitors

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

Find the correct developer and admin. Microstrategy has a lot of potentiality and their API for SDK is friendly. But it's better to hire someone not only familiar with the tool, but also has strong background of Data warehouse to develop better solution

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a stable, reliable platform. With strong functionality. Performance is very good.

  ### 9. Simple and very effective

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gautam G. | General Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Regular updates and free trainings held at different locations

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Not much. Was tough initially with the old versions.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Used for our clients for managing their work force and identify the right talent.

  ### 10. Sales Team

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth K. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2017

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

It's easy and simple to use. It also compiles a lot of data.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

It takes really slow to load in data and it freezes a lot.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pulling in Gross/Net Revenue. Release dates of titles

  ### 11. Consider carefully

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

The Desktop application is now free.
Pricing model is clearer than earlier but..

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Documentation, inconsistencies, lack of details, and lack of solid examples. Poor if you compare to Teradata, Tableau and SAS.

Online Training options. Limited. I was at a user conference and they all recommended Youtube. A non
Microstrategy employee had made some videos. Very disappointing if you compare to Tableau. That includes transcripts of their material. SAS has just two (2) free online options but they are very good and fairly comprehensive.

Staff/ Resources: Cannot find any in the job market.

Tech Support: Disappointing, on par with Business Objects apparently. SAS were mostly good. Tableau looks alright thus far.

Software usability: users going very well with Tableau. Generally dislike Microstrategy, this is the non Desktop reporting version though.

Bugs /Shortcomings: I have a vendor consultant spending most of his time spent on making the software do what it is supposed to do/ investigating software issues/ workarounds. One year on Office add-in.. To be fair that does have environmental aspects but if they had some clearer documentation on ports used, protocols, etc that would have helped. .

Enterprise Manager: this is something that helps with reporting on usage. It has alot of prebuilt reports. But there are no clear definitions of the columns. There are also in some hardcoded URL links, with ASP references. We use Unix. Makes the prebuilt reporting useless. As was recommended by the vendor, best to make your own reports.

Consultant level of training/ knowledge: Upgrade from version 9 to 10. Quoted 1 month. Gave up after 3 months. Work done by vendor consultants. Do feel sorry for them but . .

Lack of security reporting, auditing capability. SAS has some options there that are ok.

Pricing model is clearer than earlier but making it hard to make it transparent on exact costings for items, based on varies levels of discounts.

Two types of releases, Platform and Foundation release. Foundation release is supported for just 6 months. . I hope that changes.

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

The sales people will say it can do everything that Tableau can. Remain doubtful.

If looking for other Enterprise options, not sure about Tableau, but for a metadata/ data lineage/ Data Governance approach SAS is ok I found. Will need some skilled people with the initial setup though.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting data out of a complex system to the users. Which they download from Microstrategy, into Tableau or Excel or a database.

  ### 12. Easy to use and tremendous power

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jacob B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Compared with other similar platforms I've used, extremely easy to get started

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

User interface has a number of quirks--functional but sometime strange.

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

Identify your account rep and become friends with them! They can be extremely helpful in directing you to the right tech resource. (There is a large and widespread support network and finding the best person to help with a specific problem can sometimes be challenging.)

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cross-database "canned" reports, self-serve data analysis, client-facing dashboards

  ### 13. Easy BI

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phil B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

The ease of architecting new data into the overall BI solution.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Complexity of Web Designer when creating and linking dashboard pages.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have 32 offices across the country. We use MicroStrategy to consolidate data across those offices to form an Enterprise view of the information while still allowing individual offices to build custom analytics on their individual offices. Self-service reporting and scheduling of standard reports have cut down on support requirements from the satellite offices.

  ### 14. Microstrategy is interactive and intuitive, but has its flaws

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

I believe their back-end meta data management system has a strong upside and their VI is very easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

I disliked the bugs I got when running the software and tech support's lack of help on solving the issues. You can send them a detailed step by step outline on how to recreate an error. They still email you back and say try it again or how did you get this error? It was essentially futile to email them and expect support.

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

Get it on-site and do a Proof-of-concept to make sure that everything will work as expected not as the sales team describes. If you ask them it will make you breakfast and bring you coffee.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are trying to replace an in-house BI platform with a new BI partner. I have realized that there is not any single player in the market who can deliver what we want, which is disappointing.

  ### 15. Mstr review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Himanshu R. | Data Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Administration ,Microstrategy support and mstr support web sites(TN's/knowledge base/discussion)

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

OM is fabulous tool but needs improvement .Please di not scrape it , also no to less free trainings about web customization available officially.

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

a definate try out .Do try usher and mobile . A distinctively ahead in mobile reporting/admin activities support and ease of use.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

critcal subscription having sales revenue going uptill C level . I love the ease to debug issues in mstr.

  ### 16. The PhotoShop of BI - customizable to a fault

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Extremely customizable, so any problem your customers describe can be turned into a solution. There are a lot of built-in visualizations, and the plugin to ESRI and R-Server is fantastic.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Extremely complicated to learn, and even harder to master the architecture. If you mistakenly architect the system incorrectly it can take forever to understand the problem and correct it. Additionally, there's no effective way of source controlling changest to the system.

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

MicroStrategy is best implemented when you already have multiple employees with strong knowledge of the system, and access to consultants.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving our business analysts a drag-and-drop tool to analyze data as well as easily visualize in ways Excel can't.

  ### 17. MicroStrategy for BI

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2017

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Its one of the best tools I am using for creating reports, documents and dashboards. I use both Microstrategy Developer as well as web version.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

A certain functionalities not available in Microstrategy web for which I have to access Microstrategy Developer.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating reports and documents for the client.

  ### 18. An Analytics Platform for all the Enterprise

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

- Ability to scale, in terms of performance and also because of the low level of admin tasks required to maintain it
- Same platform serves all types of business intelligence users
- Zero footprint web interface allows access anywhere
- Powerful mobile application
- Object oriented, so allows to reuse business concepts consistently

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

- For power users, ad hoc reporting is sometimes hard, because they find it difficult to understand how MicroStrategy chooses the tables and joins to include in the queries.

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

Every BI platform has a different kind of logic to it. Do not try to replicate what you have in your platform if you are migrating from another BI platform. Instead, optimize using MicroStrategy's strength.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have developed a full fledged BI solution covering all areas of an insurance business:
- Claims
- Revenue
- Reinsurance
- Incentives management
- etc.

  ### 19. It has been a great experience working on MicroStrategy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikhil G. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Simple interface but complex function behind the scene. MicroStrategy does complex analytical functions with very optimized methods. It is growing every year and becoming more user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Less control on SQL manipulation. One has to know detail architecture to generate a desired complex report. At time the analytical engine take more time than anticipated with causes performance issue.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Self Service BI
Key Strategy decisions
Operational dashboards are helping identify the gap

  ### 20. Powerful Data Analytics package

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric J. | Consulting Engineer, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2017

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Easy dashboard development and visualization customization

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Deep learning curve for backend data access and modeling

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

Stick with it leaning curve cost is worth the effort

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deliver both real-time and historical data in a single package for both dashboards and reports

  ### 21. A robust solution for large-scale BI projects

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** ADOUTTE M. | Chef de projet Microstrategy, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

- High scalability
- Very stable
- Excellent reporting capabilities
- Very good mobile BI (on apple products)
- Good data exploration tools for power users

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

- Complex deployment and development
- Evolving slowly
- High migration costs compared to the gains
- Web interface is a mix of (very) old and brand new, with little coherence
- The complexity of the tool make it unsuitable for the general audience, the target audience is the data analyst

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

Microstrategy is a complete BI solution for people with BI needs that are high, diverse, and relatively stable.
It allows a small-scale team to address most of the BI needs of a large company.
Because of its high set-up cost (both technically and financially), it is not well suited for small-scale projects, or companies with fast-changing needs.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Microstrategy shines when it comes to reliably deliver basic reporting to large amounts of users.
Native iOS apps (that can be rebranded to your company's colors) make it an excellent mobile BI solution.
A team of 4 people can deliver mobile dashboards to 2500+ users.
The data discovery tool available in web allows to deliver self-service BI for power users.

  ### 22. MicroStrategy is Good tool than other BI tool, but it is difficult.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** 和也 . | staff, Consumer Goods, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Performances of Report or Document are good.
This tool has data discovery tool even enterprise BI.
I think good point of some kind of MicroStrategy objects are shared each other.
So, we can decrease costs of making report.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

There are lot of points of some kinds of setting. We can’t understand all of them.
I can’t control source management. If we want to recover report that made few days ago,
We have to recover from backup metadata, it is difficult for us.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can create reports and execution report with good performance.
Our report creation time less 80% than before.

  ### 23. Best Enterprise BI Software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

MicroStrategy is one of the best enterprise level BI solutions out in the market today. There are a lot of departmental BI suites like Tableau and Qlik that are good for ad-hoc/departmental reporting but fall short of enterprise level capabilities.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

MicroStrategy falls short in visualization options. Their out of the box library is limited to the standard bar/line charts.

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

If you are looking for a technology that offers self-service, data discovery and enterprise level security then Microstrategy is the right answer.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Self service reporting is a key function area for us. MicroStrategy has helped us tremendously in achieving this because of it's drag and drop capabilities.

  ### 24. OEM solutions and partner

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

Power of Mobile BI, Embedded Analytics capabilities, Scalability, Best for Enterprise Reporting, Organic growth - all products are integrated, Single Metadata, Reusability of the objects across projects, Dashboards

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

There is not an integrated budget and planning software, perception for ease of use. Customers know the old usage. They do not have awareness with the new capabilities regarding Self Service BI and data visualisation.

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

You can meet most of your requirements with only MicroStrategy. Best for Mobile. Best for Enterprise Standard BI. Most scalable.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mobile BI, embedded analytics, Repeatable solutiıons.

Embedded solutions integrated with R having transactional capabilities.

Business efficiency.

  ### 25. Loving It

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Great tracks. The presentations so far have been well worth the journey.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

seems smaller this year. Could go for an xtended look into apps and more focus on security

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

It won't fix legacy data issues for you. It's not a magic solution. Fix your ERP system and clean up your master data first.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ETL is a mess. Would love it if you had some open source partners in that realm next year.

Be careful if wanting to use this specifically for multiple projects using Mobile devices. When you have more than one project on Mobile, the app shows all projects then you login and authenticate to what you are allowed to view. Should really have you login, then see your authenticated projects.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

If you don't need some of the traditional strengths of MSTR such as high user scalablity, back end data scalability, use other tools such as Tableau or SAP Lumira.

MSTR's true power comes from a true data model based approaching where the structured data can play.

Don't over customize. They will break API compatibility and it will make upgrade difficult.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Holly F. | Software Trainer, Consultant, Programmer & Database Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2016

**What do you like best about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Ease of use. There are multiple ways to do the same thing (navigation bar, starburst menu, or main screen). Easy to find existing reports if company organizes it well. User's don't have to worry about relationships between data sets if the admin sets up the system well.

**What do you dislike about Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE)?**

Data may be hard to find but it greatly depends on how your company decides to organize it. Sometimes a little unstable (online version) but most issues are due to your company's server capabilities. Some reports take a VERY LONG time to run but once again, most of that due to how much data the system has in it PLUS the server capability.

**Recommendations to others considering Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE):**

This software is comparable to other Report Writers...Crystal Reports, Cognos Impromptu, etc. in that a user can easily create reports from data that is coming from various company wide applications and then either format and print OR export to Excel.

**What problems is Strategy One (formerly MicroStrategy ONE) solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to easily run reports from data that is coming from various sources within the company.
