To be able to log in and quickly find & download footage to drop into FCPX is a godsend. Storyblocks is fast, has a great selection, and is affordable. Footage is broad and plentiful. But for me, the standout feature of this platform is the different download options. Whilst there may be times when you need the ProRes or 4K version of a clip, which are large files, the option to download just a HD .mp4 is brilliant and endlessly helpful. The vast majority of the time that's all you need. The .mp4s are still great quality, only a few MBs so they don't bloat your timelines, and make your workflow nice and fast. **What do you dislike about Storyblocks?** Being in the UK, I do find a lot of the content is American bias. For example, if you would like to use stock clips with persistent actors in them, you have to manually look for the clips using these actors. There are times I need specific shots of a location or a vehicles or maybe a hospital or school...and it's fairly apparent that it's somewhere in Eastern Europe for example. In addition, I really like how they make sure that the rights stay with you. We actuallly ran into this problem with our YouTube channel on Pixabay. A creator had put a video on Pixabay, I used it, then the creator took it off Pixabay which affected our YouTube copyright license. The stock footage is great for YouTube and occasionally high-end enough for commercial work. The music is often BETTER for commercial work as it's not as overproduced as others, like Epidemic Sound. The sound effects library is excellent and easier to search than Epidemic Sound. I have used After Effects templates from Storyblocks, and I'm eager to try DaVinci Resolve templates. All in all, it's hard to beat the price. Unless you maintain a subscription year after year they will NOT help you clear copyright claims that will come up years after initial video release due to the broken claims system within YouTube. This has happened to me now so many times with my older videos that I've just had to edit out the segments containing the music as it's almost impossible to clear the claims without the help of Storyblocks tech support because you do NOT receive copies of individual licenses with each piece of music, which is necessary in the appeal process. I love the fact that there are so many useful assets in one place. I am a freelance video editor and motion graphics artist with my own business and I also work in corporate as a luxury materials curator so I am very well versed in high end marketing. Story blocks is constantly upgrading and updating their offerings. 4k drone footage, got it! After effects templates for home staging, got it. Logo reveal assets, got it. The list goes on and on.... My favorite addition is the integration of the search feature into after effects and premiere pro. I find this so convenient. It would be great to offer that same function in audition as I am constantly downloading assets and modifying later in audition. Overall though I know that they will think of ways to improve and it will ultimately make my life easier and my workflow more efficient.
