Design and mock APIs at ease. There are many features of this product ranging from design, testing, documenting, and publishing that makes it appealing to many API designers who need to communicate all aspects of evolving an API product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Design view can be presented better. I like the Read-only view but sometimes when toggling from Read to Design mode, the API endpoints are not grouped in the same way as the Read view so it makes it harder to find the correct endpoint to edit, especially when you have more than 40 endpoints in the view.
There are 3 versions of Stoplight as they have gone through several iterations of the product. For production quality usage, please use Stoplight Next as it is more stable. Stoplight Studio is their beta product and it lacks a lot of functionality that Stoplight Next has. The latest 3rd version they are currently promoting is Stoplight Platform, which I believe it is the next thing going forward. I haven't used it yet so I'm unable to give any review/recommendation. The flexibility of defining API docs, tests and all relevant API stuffs in one single container, which makes it a powerful tool to use and it greatly addresses our e2e needs for API development.
The designer mode is also my favorite, from which non-technical staffs could easily gain information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Stoplight being a new tool and start-up company, many times I find the documentation is lagging behind and we would have to approach product support for issues and enquiries.
The designer tool, being my favorite, also drives me crazy the most coz it is pretty buggy and still a long way to go. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Multiple editing modes for the models and routes. Can use the UI or direct JSON schema editing in JSON. The self-publishing documentation is invaluable to easily sharing information with your team or even for public consumption. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The "next" (current) UI doesn't seem as good as the Legacy version, however, I haven't played with it enough to be more thorough in detail for it. I DO wish there was a way to "upgrade" (without Swagger import, which is supports) from legacy to Next. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The easy to use and functional Open API editing tool that really makes it simple to create a detailed and comprehensive API. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Save and Commit features are great but need the extra layer of git functionality that you get with branches and pull requests to control changes. I'd say that's a major missing feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1. We love how the API documentation is presented to our customers. It's a crisp clean interface that allows them to view, navigate and test our API with ease. For this alone, I wouldn't trade it for the world.
2. Very simple to deploy new changes Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1. It's been hard to implement its usage across our entire organization. Difficult user interface with high room for failure. Mistakes are easily corrected.
2. As we teach Stoplight internally we are often plagued with a host of questions, "Why is this like this", etc. It seems that there is a large number of feature requests that we have requested to be implemented. However, the overall functionally is solid.
3. Recent changes are hard to manage as a company. We're not certain where to put those in terms of broadcasting when we make changes to endpoints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Stoplight's rich set of features allows for editing by means of a GUI as well as integration in a GitHub-driven process (as in our case). The docs look a lot cleaner than before and the HTTP request maker gives our docs a component of interactivity. Also, the support team has been really helpful so far. Nothing really to be disliked comes to mind, but of course, Stoplight being a work in progress, there are some features that are not quite ready yet (using env variables in the "Get an access token" overlay etc.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Simple to use
- Can create tables, pictures to explain the api better to the client -> Visual OpenAPI Designer was added
- Can test api with moc server Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- No easy way to transfer a word documentation into stoplight
- Not sure how we can check if the api doc is stoplight is in sync with the api
- Not many tutorials on youtube
- I wish there would be a better way to save the api doc as a microsoft word document (.doc)
- I wish there would be a way to track how many users/clients read the api docs
- It would be good if the user could flag parts, which they dont understand, and we would get notified on it
- It would be nice if we could track how many user test the api by sending test queries Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
