What do you like best about Split by Harness?

Easy to use and maintain, Split io became our go-to service for managing new feature releases. Always-up and reliable service on-top of account based configuration allows us to deploy and test features in real-time, which empowers us with a controlled release process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Split by Harness?

While it is quick & easy to add feature flags it is not always clear how to deactivate them and when.

A guided tour for new users can help solve this issue, and explain the exact life cycle for a feature flag.

Also, getting a notification regarding fully released or no longer used flag can be good for cleaning up the board. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Split by Harness solving and how is that benefiting you?

Split allows us to test new features from multiple teams at the early stages of development, helps us with continuous deployment, without any code changes per used environment, which couldn't be done that easily without this service.

Being able to control which accounts will have access to the features, all in real-time just makes the difference.

We can react to technical issues and also contract changes with ease. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Product Description

Split’s Feature Data Platform pairs the speed and reliability of feature flags with event-driven causal analysis for every feature rollout. Catch performance regressions, errors, and changes to your KPIs at the flag level. The new unit of control and measurement is the feature, not the application. Split lets you release faster with less risk. Spend more time building and less time managing incidents.

How do you position yourself against your competitors?

Only Split offers:
- Approval workflows that ensure compliance and prevent mistakes from making it to production.
- Alerts that detect and notify teams when a new feature is causing errors or performance issues.
- Data pipeline integrations to easily ingest event data, eliminating the need to track data twice.

(Original )Information
What do you like best about Split by Harness?

It is very flexible. We can easily have some splits in our products and use them to roll out new features step by step. In case of any issue, we can easily disable the feature and fix the issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Split by Harness?

The product is excellent, there are no drawbacks. Maybe the UI is a bit complex, but that is because the product is compelling and offers many possibilities Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Split by Harness solving and how is that benefiting you?

It offers the possibility of quickly rolling out a new feature by percentage, any id, etc. We are confident that if something goes wrong, we can rollback in no time. It is easy to create a group of accounts that you want to enable or disable a new feauture too. It is also handy to enable/disable the accounts in test environments or even for Beta customers in production environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alyssa Rogers of Split by Harness

Hi, thanks for leaving Split a review and letting us know you've been successful with quickly rolling out new features by percentage. It's good to know your team has confidence knowing they can roll back any feature if there's an issue. Thanks again for the review!

What do you like best about Split by Harness?

* Amazing SDK support for many languages, super easy to integrate in new projects

* Audit trail (as long as your devs use it lol)

* Metrics/analytics (though I haven't made massive use of that)

* Dashboard to understand what state various splits are in

* Fast bootup/data retrievel on application boot

* Great support to allow for new splits based on different data

* Extremely simple to understand or show new devs how to launch their features Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Split by Harness?

* Our complex test/staging/prod environment setup means that some of the dashboards are harder to follow, a way to create a custom dashboard would be great

* When using the approval system changes get applied the moment all approvals are granted, which has caught my team unaware, we know it now though (we are use to merge request workflows where the person submitting a change controls when it's applied) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Split by Harness solving and how is that benefiting you?

Where I work we have a two weekly release cycle, being able to launch feature behind splits and switch over at opportune moments is crucial. We would often have to hand roll this kind of stuff into our own app/conf/DB...etc. in the past. Now it's just a few clicks over on split and a few lines of code here and there Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Split by Harness?

The ability to quickly and easily rollout changes incrementally by percent or customer subsets, and easily revert back if needed. Auditing the split values with the Live Tail and Monitoring is also helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Split by Harness?

Nothing comes to mind in particular, it just does what I need it to do so far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Split by Harness solving and how is that benefiting you?

Safe rollouts. The ease of defining customer segments and enabling them for early adoption of a new feature, or doing a slow incremental percentage-based rollout so that it can be monitored and reverted quickly if any problems arise. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Split by Harness?

It does offer an SDK and feature flags.

Setup is semi simple

Has a js sdk Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Split by Harness?

No typescript SDK

No seperate packages for client and server side SDKs

Occasional failures on the client to fetch feature flags

Ability to split traffic is behind what we had with something like LaunchDarkly. Like their distribute treatments feature isn't like a traffic split at all, and I'm not sure what their traffic split feature actually is.

UI makes it terrible to copy and paste different flags we need to use Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Split by Harness solving and how is that benefiting you?

Feature Flags Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Split by Harness?

Using split io helped me and my team to easily experiment new features in productions. The interface is pretty clear and the product is very stable. I haven't experienced any bigger problems when using it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Split by Harness?

Some experiments has time to expire, it would be nice to set some kind of reminders in split io to remember users to remove the feature flag Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Split by Harness solving and how is that benefiting you?

There are some feature in which we are not sure if it is the right fit for the users, for that we use split io in ab testing.

Also sometimes we are working in very complex features in which we are not 100% secure about the side effect, for that we use split io for internal release and then to external users Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Split by Harness?

Coming from Optimizely, Split has been a breath of fresh air. The configuration, management of flags and visibility is amazing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Split by Harness?

There is little to dislike, the hardest part of any feature flagging system is keeping it organized and usable as you iterate. It's not a split issue, but a feature flagging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Split by Harness solving and how is that benefiting you?

We wanted to separate our releases and deploys. Giving the product team autonomy to manage EAs and feature rollout. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
