What do you dislike about Sphinx?

Confluence exporter is not working on SSO.

What do you like best about Sphinx?

Sphinx is a great software to make documentation more interactive and interesting. As a developer, I need to show my code highlighted that made easy with the use of sphinx. it also checks for the validation of the code. Another important thing in the documentation is a tree structure, which is efficiently and effectively handled by the sphinx Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Till now I didn't encounter any disadvantages.

What do you like best about Sphinx?

The performance of Sphinx is easily the best thing about it. Faster then Lucene/Xapian or any other indexing engine I have tried. In addition it has one of the simplest configuration files I have had the pleasure of using. I consider it the Nginx to Lucene's Apache. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Sphinx?

Possibly the only issue you may hit is that it you cannot easily write your own indexing pipeline. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Sphinx:

If you want a no frills indexing solution that works best when coupled with your existing SQL database then look no further. Unless you are sure you need the functionality of Lucene at least try Sphinx out. It takes less than an hour to configure and try. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Sphinx solving and how is that benefiting you?

I needed to index literally billions of lines of source code. Not only was sphinx able to do this quickly and reliably it also produced excellent search results with high performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
