Great Tool For Interview From Afar **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Dan V. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2020 **What do you like best about Spark Hire?** I was tasked for hiring for the company I work for during the Coronavirus pandemic - we were shut down due to a shelter in place order, but still wanted to be hiring because we knew our busy season would hit once we were able to return. Unable to scheduled face to face interviews for a multitude of reasons, Spark Hire helped tremendously with keeping the interview process going. I would interview candidates over the phone, and if it went well, I'd set them up with a "one-way video interview" - where candidates record themselves answering the 10 preset questions I wrote. Then I could take their video responses, and forward them on to our production managers, who would watch the video and give their feedback on the candidate. The process worked great - it allowed me to interview candidates remotely,and it was far easier to do than try to coordinate the schedules of multi-participant Zoom meetings. The fact that the videos were recorded and then uploaded, and not streamed, helped with the issue of candidates not having fast enough internet speed too. **What do you dislike about Spark Hire?** When you set up the invitation link to invite candidates to "one way interviews", you set an end date for when it becomes inactive. It would be nice if you got some sort of warning/heads up prior to it becoming inactive - I accidentally sent out inactive links when working on the same positions for a while. I realize this is largely my fault, but that's really all I have in the way of negatives. They provide a good candidate experience, as well, with lots of tips and videos to help 1st timers get comfortable with the idea of video interviews. I also love the Spark Hire support team - they are incredibly responsive (to both customers and candidates) and can generally find a solution very quickly. **What do you dislike about Spark Hire?** The integration with our ATS (SmartRecruiters) is a little clunky on the setup, but once it IS setup, it's super easy. **Recommendations to others considering Spark Hire:** When we were vetting options for video interview platforms, Spark Hire may not have had as many bells and whistles as some of the other options, but the main functionality was all there at a fraction of the cost of the bigger names. In the 3 years since, Spark Hire has done a lot to catch up, but their pricing remains so much more competitive - and as I said above, their support team is top-notch. I'm definitely a fan! **What problems is Spark Hire solving and how is that benefiting you?** The whole concept of asynchronous video interview was new to us before Spark Hire, but it has allowed us the option to widen the top of our funnel and provide opportunities to more candidates (especially non-traditional candidates) that may not have gotten that chance if we were utilizing more traditional phone screening at that stage. I also really like the scheduling component to Spark Hire. When I do schedule phone calls, I utilize that function - I liked it better than Calendly. ### 7. This process is convenient for both the candidate(s) and the Hiring Manager since the videos can be completed on the candidate's own time and can be reviewed by the Hiring Manager at a time most convenient. **What do you dislike about Spark Hire?** The only suggestion I would make is to create an option to archive the videos that are no longer relevant instead of having to delete them. Even though the deleted videos can be retrieved, it would be nice to be able to archive specific videos for future reference. **What problems is Spark Hire solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our candidate screening process allows us to review a larger number of candidates now then in the past when we had to schedule phone interviews. It also allows us to include more team members on the initial screening since we are able to share the video interview link. We feel as though we have a better selection from a larger pool of candidates to assist in finding the person who best fits the job and our culture. ### 40. Real life is more flexible than set processes. The information that I need is where I need it. No need to flip back and forth between pages. **What do you dislike about Spark Hire?** I want to be able to see other openings in my company even if I don't have permissions to view the details of the pipeline. Auto replies save a lot of time. History is great, you can spot a person that has been submitting CV more than once, or to different positions in the company.
