## SolidWorks Electrical 3D Reviews
  ### 1. Seamless Electrical-Mechanical Integration, but Demands High Resources and Learning

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bhimsen T. | Electrical Supervisor, Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2025

**What do you like best about SolidWorks Electrical 3D?**

I like how SolidWorks Electrical 3D seamlessly integrates electrical and mechanical design within the same environment. It allows me to synchronize 2D electrical schematics with the 3D model, which reduces wiring errors and ensures accurate routing of cables and harnesses. The automatic wire routing, intelligent connection points, and real-time collaboration between electrical and mechanical teams save a lot of time during panel layout and assembly design.

I also appreciate its intuitive interface and real-time update feature, which automatically reflects any schematic changes in the 3D layout. This makes design validation and error checking much easier. The software’s BOM and report generation tools are also excellent for documentation and project management.

**What do you dislike about SolidWorks Electrical 3D?**

Although SolidWorks Electrical 3D is powerful, it can feel resource-intensive and slow when working with large assemblies or complex wiring projects. The initial setup and configuration—especially linking symbols, parts, and connection points—can take time to learn for new users.

The library management system could also be more streamlined; sometimes it’s difficult to find or customize components. In addition, license costs are quite high for small or medium-sized teams, and the software requires frequent updates to stay compatible with other SolidWorks modules.

Overall, it’s excellent once properly set up, but the learning curve and performance requirements could be improved.

**What problems is SolidWorks Electrical 3D solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SolidWorks Electrical 3D helps me bridge the gap between electrical and mechanical design in complex projects. It eliminates manual errors by automatically synchronizing 2D electrical schematics with 3D models, ensuring that wire routes, terminal connections, and component placements are accurate.

In my work, it has greatly improved collaboration between design teams, reduced wiring mistakes during assembly, and saved time during project documentation. The ability to automatically generate reports, BOMs, and wire lists has made project handover much faster and more organized.

Overall, it improves efficiency, accuracy, and communication across the entire design process — from planning to implementation.
