Recommendations to others considering SmartSites:
When doing your research, compare what you'll be getting for the amount you're paying. I found that SmartSites' pricing was very much in line with others as far as website development, etc., and SEO, and even a little lower for PPC; but I felt that the level of expertise I felt I was getting with SmartSites FAR EXCEEDED what I could expect from the others. Also, consider what you'll be paying for, vs. what you'll be getting, LONG-TERM! Especially if you're doing any PPC, think about how much you'll save in ad spend if you have a well-managed campaign. That savings alone would far outweigh a higher management fee (though for PPC, SmartSites actually charged less than the others I looked at). Finally, if you're considering going with a company that works with your industry exclusively, thinking that's a good idea because they "understand" your specific business model and marketing needs, you might want to consider this: a company that does the same thing, for the same type of companies, is basically competing with itself when working with multiple competitors. If they're just doing a bunch of the same, how are they going to get YOU ranking higher than your competitors, who are also their clients?!? Just something to think about!
