There are a lot of free-of-charge language pairs for machine translation. Accepting that the machine translation is not perfect and proofreading / post-editing is required, Smartcat is a very good tool for getting the first translation draft with machine translation aid. 2. Smartcat preserves the formatting in the source document. I.e. the translated document is having the same formatting with the source document. This is very helpful, especially when I’m working with translation works involving tables and figures. 3. Smartcat provides a platform for worldwide connection among translators, freelancers and clients. It provides many job opportunities with a very good and handy payment system. **What do you dislike about Smartcat?** Sometimes I find it challenging to use Smartcat with regards to the followings: 1. The design for user interface and navigation could be disappointing. It seems that there are quite a lot of stuff happening at the same time, such as CAT, project management and freelance job platform. Sometimes it looks a bit clumsy and overwhelming. 2. Internet connection is a must to work on Smartcat. Offline functionality is not available. **What problems is Smartcat solving and how is that benefiting you?** My overall experience with Smartcat is very good. It effectively provides me with a very robust first draft of translation works with most of the formatting retained as the source document. This greatly reduces the time required for drafting the translation and formatting the work. Despite the fact that the user interface and dashboard might be subject to further improvement, I have been using Smartcat for 2 years and will continue using Smartcat in my translation. ### 2. We changed the way we work thanks to you: We run all our TMs and glossary in SmarCat, we create quotes and invoices in SmarCat, we assign the projects, we imported our list of trusted vendors, we use your workplace to find new vendors in some languages, we like the friendly interface, no vendors complain about how difficult it is to use, we love can download a different version of the documents and compare them, we love the bilingual doc file. Since we use SmartCat we have no issues regarding the compatibility between CAT tools, licenses issues, etc. We love that our vendors can discuss about the terminology in the comments tab. **What do you dislike about Smartcat?** There are a few bugs but you are always open to listen to us and you solve them really quickly. You have a great team. We would like to be able to download the list of comments so we can analyze them easily during the QA steps. We would like to edit invoices easily, create and send POs to our vendors so they know exactly what they will earn and the deadlines. We would also love to have a start date for vendors so the editors know when they will receive the translation if we do not work on the file simultaneously. Support should be readily available without having to search around and have questions referred to Zendesk. I see that some other users have praised support; up to now I have never even been in contact with it. Is G2 support? I guess it must be. Not very obvious, is it?
