SmartCAT is an intuitive platform that I have enjoyed using for quite some time now. It has all the basic functionalities of a CAT tool and is great for connecting LSPs with freelancers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The "find and replace" function doesn't work. The Machine translation could be greatly improved. However, my biggest problem with them as of late has been a lack of payments. I have been in contact with the SmartCAT support team for almost 6 months about this delayed payment (which is worth a substantial amount), but as the payment has not been made by the LSP, SmartCAT have been brushing me off, to the point of stopping replying to my emails. SmartCAT say they guarantee to make payments for jobs completed and accepted within SmartCAT, but have failed to deliver. I have therefore lost complete trust in them and would not recommend. Unlike other CAT-tool, SmartCat is free and interface is very easy to use. As you re online, you have access to all your projects, the current and archived ones. You don’t have any limitation, you can convert your source files and choose the machine translation or automatically filling the similar segments and work with the client directly-now you can request a payment from the client. Unfortunately it s not a well known platform. Its popular only in Russian speaking countries, so when I send my profile link to the clients in other countries - 95% of them don’t know it. As well I can’t use it well on my mobile phone or ipad which is so sad if you are in a hurry to deliver your translation Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It doesn't support Arabic very well. The different text direction works, but in tables it doesn't. i have to manually mirror the tables afterwards. There are other nuances that the tool doesn't capture (such as punctuation spaces, and the lack of 'th" or "nd" in Arabic. I also don't understand why it doesn't use the translation memory sometimes and gives me instead machine translation, which for Arabic - as you can imagine - is a disaster! I don't like that i can't compile one full translation memory per client. In addition I can't seem to be able to scroll down fast when in the translation window, it seems to be always "refreshing" and pulls me back up to where i started! Finally, the downloaded translations come in three fonts or more. The Bold and Italic are almost always inverted. So, as a result, i spend a lot of time formatting.

As a final note, it seems to me that SmartCat puts most of its effort in the corporate side of the business than retail (freelancers). All the updates i get are about managing projects better and facilitating payments rather than updating the linguistic side of the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

File conversion features for translation and the platform is very beautiful and easy to use. Work and follow-up are easy. Each functions that are easy to use and hassle-free, it's suitable for those who start working on document translation. The effective analysis of translations that are easy to understand and we can track work at any stage. Earn unlimited income, get and pay through the platform easier. There is nothing I don't like. But it has only the problem of logging in a little, which sometimes enter the same email but like accessing different sources of information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

When you hear something’s free you usually think basic or limited. Not with Smartcat. It’s surprisingly comprehensive but also very easy to use. I’ve tried many CAT tools and settled on Smartcat because it’s ready to go, very intuitive and has everything most translators need. Sometimes I don't have time to accept the projects and when I open the website they are already taken but I know it is not SmartCat's fault. I have to find a way to really accept the projects as fast as possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

First of all, it is completely free for the freelancers. It doesn't hold back any of its features from the users. There is not a single feature you will miss on this platform. Its interface is super easy to work on. It also let people hire vendors on this platform. The more a freelancer work on it, the better his/her chances become to be hired. The tool is great and I use it daily in my work. It took me minutes to get started and I quickly got used to working with it, although I still had a few questions I needed answered to be able to make the most out of it. I looked online but eventually contacted the support team, who were really quick to respond and extremely helpful (not to mention patient!). More useful features have been added to SmartCAT since I started using it, making the tool even more powerful.
