Top Rated Slic3r Alternatives
Of the many things I like is that it allows you to configure all kinds of parameters for the 3D objects that we want to print. The Open Source implementation is ideal because there are always new improvements that place experienced users on the platform. The tools that Slic3r has are very useful and easy to use, it has a great variety that allows us to customize each piece that we are going to print very accurately. In recent versions they added a 3D parts editor that can be useful in some cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are several things that I don't like about Slic3r. One of them is the tools that are not so necessary for the correct customization of the user. Also the viewer and editor of 3D pieces is very slow, it does not have much utility since there are softwares that can work those parameters much more efficiently. Comparing Slic3r with other Open Source software such as Cura and Repetier Host, it is a very limited tool in 3D printing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's very easy to use and very intuitive to set up. It's simplistic and very easy to change settings and temperatures to fit your needs and has many options to optimize your printing process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are tons of options, but I am not always sure which option is best for what I am doing. For example, there are tons of Fill Pattern options, but I am not sure which one is best for what type of print. I would also like to put in custom supports myself and no rely on the system's auto support feature. Because different materials behave differently, what is best for PLA, might not be ideal for PETG and knowing what options is best for what material would be beneficial for my printing.
I would also like to vary temperatures depending on the thickness of a part. If I am printing a sword, as it moves up into a point, high heat can cause issues. I know other slicers can do this, but I have not seen this done in Slicr. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I think it is quite user-friendly. It provides various opportunities to play around with the parameters to obtain your best result. I also like the preview option and being able to analyze every layer to see the plausible problems beforehand to avoid wasting material and time for printing. Also, I think the program has the potential for being used by students to professionals. However, most importantly, I always appreciate deeply when a program is an open source; this gives me an idea that it was purely made for its purpose by passionate people. The experience I have had with 3D printing had some negative outcomes from time to time. I do not know if it was the issue of the printer itself or the program, or the material / maybe room temperature; in a couple of prints I have had was that material was piling up (blobbing). It's easy and simple to use, cutting and editing STL file is beneficial compared to other slicing software's Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like it because it is very secure, versatile, I can save any type of information and share it between multiple platforms, as well as link multiple accounts between all my devices. Supports a variety of formats and systems, the information stored in this digital tool will always be protected.
As an architecture student, I like it because it is efficient, and manageable, it can be used not only in 3D printers but also in CNC cutting machines, be it in laser cutting in wood, plastic, the material corresponding to your equipment, and it also supports various formats, the ones I recommend using the most are STL, OBJ and POV.
I have repeatedly used this working tool, integrated into some architectural softwares, since it is the best plugin for the cutting of my 3D models, and later for the sequence of models from the university. It is very useful and effective, according to the use you give it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The main disadvantage is that this plugin does not allow us to print directly from its software and you have to resort to using other programs to print the 3D exploded view. Among other qualities, it can only be printed or cut, extruding the mesh to more than 1mm, but it breaks or becomes very weak and you have to edit the modeling that has angles similar to that thickness, recalibrate and do everything again so that you have a optimal printing or cutting. Also if you are going to import / export in STL format you must have a PRO graphics card, but it will take a lot of time, which can be invested in other Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like Slic3r because it is a perfect program to laminate 3D objects for 3D printers, with which we can customize all kinds of parameters up to the smallest configuration. I like that we can define the perimeters, the upper and lower layers, the filling, the type of filling, the speed and among many other things. With Slic3r we can make a 3D printing reduce your printing time considerably, since with all its parameters we can improve its efficiency considerably. Another very good point of Slic3r is that it is an Open Source program that we can use in several 3D printing software if no cost. It also has a visualizer of objects that helps us to modify them to have a clearer idea of what it would be like to take it to a real plane. I also like that you can repair pieces of .STL format in Slic3r. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The new Plater tool that was added in the latest versions is meaningless since it is a tool that is very heavy and decreases the processing speed of the program, especially when loading an object to the plate, all the options can be executed better in a 3D printing software. Slic3r does not let us print directly from your software and for this we have to use other programs to print the 3D parts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the Slic3r software because it is the best Open Source slicer that can be found, thanks to its settings to be able to print 3D pieces in a very personalized way according to the 3D printer to be used. It is very useful to configure the speeds of perimeters, fills, layers, density, among many others, thanks to this software we can make the most of our printers. The new incorporations of Slic3r are very good since now we can import STL objects and be able to modify them and repair them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Slic3r sometimes takes a long time to analyze an object of STL format, this with objects with a lot of detail, this software forces us to have a good graphic card to be able to process very high definition pieces. The program has new additions that are not very useful as seeing the 3D object on the 3D printing plate, sometimes it gets in the way instead of helping the user.
