The API is difficult to work with, it would be nice for there to be more built-in automation for reaching customers that are inactive or haven't logged in, more robust analytics

**What do you like best about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

We've been using Skilljar for the past three years and can't imagine switching vendors. They are a true partner in helping us realize our vision for educating our users. They are also some of the kindest, most helpful people that truly care about their customers. I love their annual conference and their webinars/coffee chats - creating the space for their customers to connect and share best practices.

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

It's been a few years since we created our Skilljar instance, but at the time the out-of-the-box solution was not customizable enough nor did it satisfy our needs without getting a product engineer to customize the CSS. We hired a contractor to build it for us and ended up with a great LMS for our customers. I would imagine that by now there are most options for changing the styling without having to do what we did or at least the process for doing it is probably easier.

**What problems is Skilljar by Gainsight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have two Skilljar instances, one for customer education and one for internal training. Before these were in place, we had to do a lot more instructor led training and everything felt very manual and not at all scalable. Now our customers and employees can do the majority of their onboarding and training in our LMS solutions, saving us time and money. It also allows us to focus on creating education programs that truly help with adoption.

I suggest looking at how other organizations have set up Skilljar as a reference point.

I was able to support two types of users, partners, and customers by leveraging 2 of my domains. The only limitation here is that I would have to duplicate content if I have to use it in both which can be time-consuming.

**What do you like best about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

The platform is fairly intuitive. The implementation manager assigned to us has been great and able to accommodate some of our needs and requirements within reason. The ability to create various catalog pages and courses while also being able to set the visibility is helpful. You can also set up specific catalog views based on your learner groups/segments. Building courses is fairly simple and offers a lot of flexibility and possibilities with the types of content you can add and how you can build out your course. New features are continually being added to the platform which offers more functionality or improves upon an experience. Support team are always very cheerful and ready to help. I like that Skilljar is a thought leader in the customer education space through their webinars, conference and guides. Based on that, they are a good vendor to partner with if you are looking to grow your customer education program.

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

I don't particularly dislike anything, but one thing that we wish was better is the quiz functionality. It's time consuming and pain staking to build a long exam and having some time saving features would go a long way to making it a better user experience.

There are other little nuances of the platform that make us wonder why it is like that, but the team at Skilljar are open to feedback. Having an element of gamification/badging would have been neat. Native analytics could be more robust but am excited to see what data analytics are possible when integrating with some of our other reporting tools.

**Recommendations to others considering Skilljar by Gainsight:**

If you have Salesforce as your CRM, the integration with Skilljar is very powerful.

**What problems is Skilljar by Gainsight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making on-demand learning more accessible to our customer base. We recently launched certification and Skilljar has made it easy for people to access it. Next steps will involve bringing live training to the platform.

I like the ability to customize just about any part of the platform. It does require development expertise, but we can customize the product to our taste.

I don't like how un-intuitive to use. Publishing courses can be confusing, domain setup can be confusing, learning paths are limited (they're not really paths as much as they are blocks of courses). It's just not an intuitive interface.

This is the best LMS software that I've found! We were able to put all of our courses in Northpass and we've never been happier with how our content is being delivered to our users. On top of the platform being just what we were looking for, the support team is just phenomenal and have continued to impress me with their dedication, care, and passion.

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

We've had some issues with being able to create email campaigns that are dripped out in a similar way/along with our course content.

We've just gone through a migration of all of our systems to integrate with Salesforce; Northpass and their support team have made our transition to their LMS very smooth!

We love the way they deliver our content and it's made it so much easier to create and deliver more and more complex courses.

Skilljar is simple to integrate and easy to use.  I have a team of folks who had never crafted rapid eLearning content.  The team was able to quickly understand the layout of the platform, and created a full curriculum for our core product workflows in just a few months.

To date I don't have any major issues to describe here.

Make sure the administrative functionality is what your business needs to report metrics.  Also, consider how you want your content to look and function, your brand within the platform.

I have a digital approach to learning now - so we met a digital transformation goal with our content through the implementation of Skilljar.  I can track my learner's usage and understand what our gaps in content are now.

In the administration area, there are easy to use reports to show how many learners have taken each course. There are filters that help narrow down the results so you can quickly determine which customers are going through the courses.

My colleagues who have been using the product for much longer than I have do grumble about a few things, but I haven't found any roadblocks for what I need to do.

We needed a way to present certification courses to selected clients and partners; we also wanted to provide "how to" courses to our customers. We are able to do both of those things.

I like that we can easily maintain our courses from the admin interface. I like that most of what we need to do is done via configuration and I like that we can customize as needed. And I especially love the Northpass team! They have been a dream to work with.

I wish we didn't have to build out custom code to implement functions that I expect to be built-in relatively soon. (But at least it's possible!)

**Recommendations to others considering Skilljar by Gainsight:**

If you are looking at Northpass, I suggest playing around with it. Try to implement something simple. That's the best way to understand how it will work for you.

We needed an enterprise level LMS that will scale with us as we grow, provide a stable learning environment for a large number of customers, be customizable so that we can put our own company touch on our courses and be easily manageable.

It's easy to spin up, customize the front end, and give users a modern experience.

The concept of a certification quiz isn't distinguished from a regular quiz so reporting on certifications is a bit manual.

**Recommendations to others considering Skilljar by Gainsight:**

The tool is wonderful but you must be prepared to manage the content it holds - that's the real battle. Take an iterative approach and don't try to boil the ocean. Don't fret over content quality initially, you can invest in production value once you know what works and how long it will be relevant.

Customer education at scale. We've been able to train a number of users we otherwise wouldn't have been able to and be sure that they've completed what we believe is critical to success on our platform.

SkillJar allows me to categorize and send out trainings to specific groups.  It also allows us to have different domains so we can publish trainings to outside parties.  There are a lot of loading features and different mediums we can use in order to diversify our trainings.

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

Groups are cumbersome and the 'save' feature is different in different places.  Analytics should have more download options and I don't like that it auto defaults to the last 30 days.

We are solving for customer and employee training.  We have realized that it is easy and fast to get materials to those parties we are educating.  The platform is also super user friendly which is great because we don't have to train people to take a training.

Northpass is the first LMS I use as I am new to my role; however, I do not feel that I am missing anything major.

We've solved the problem of organization and engagement. The newhires are much more engaged with training now and Northpass also serves as an excellent host for additional source material.

Northpass is extremely User Friendly. We have a platform filled with gig workers all over the country and we rarely have any confusion because it is straightforward. Creating courses is extremely simple and Northpass is constantly implementing new features to make the process better. There are options to create a variety for your learners to enhance the education process and engagement.

There are not many aspects about the platform that I dislike. We did have to change over our system for a variety of reasons and create a whole new learners platform. This was not convenient but worth the efforts in the end.

A simple education process to ensure our gig workers are always prepared and ready.

**What do you like best about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

Overall Northpass has been a great system that has been the perfect LMS to host our Online Education solutions for clients. As an agency, it is incredibly easy to manage lots of clients at once in the platform, while also ensuring there is no cross-over between clients. Additionally, the team at Northpass is INCREDIBLE to work for. I manage 20+ technology partnerships (vendors) for my company and the Northpass team is one of my favorites (if not the favorite) to work with. Prompt, useful, actionable answers to our challenges can be hard to come by when dealing with a vendor, but not with Northpass!

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

The only challenge we initially had with Northpass was around question-level reporting for quizzes in SCORM files. Luckily, the Northpass team was able to help us find a number of solutions to this issue, including prioritizing the creation of new in-platform question types, which provide the detailed analytics our clients are looking for. These new question types are almost live in the platform and I know they'll be rolling out many others in the coming quarters.

**Recommendations to others considering Skilljar by Gainsight:**

You won't find another LMS partner that is headed in the right direction and as supportive as Northpass. Though they are newer to the scene than some of the legacy LMS platforms, I'd strongly encourage anyone doing LMS research to check out Northpass. Their team provides incredible support, so you know you're getting a real partner and not just another SaaS vendor. Additionally, we found the pricing to be much more reasonable than some of the existing legacy titans in the space.

We have a robust offering of Online Learning Solutions for clients, including course design/creation, content creation (to populate courses) and LMS creation/maintenance. Northpass has made the LMS/hosting component of our Online Learning incredibly easy and is the perfect platform to capitalize on all of the awesome courses/content we are creating.

**What do you like best about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

When we started using Skilljar it was meant to be an easier way for us to host live trainings but it has grown into so much more. Now the majority of our trainings are on-demand courses that customers can self-serve and our customer success coaches can work with customers on the meaty decisions to make, rather than rote trainings. It's been incredibly easy to use, even for folks like me with minimal course design experience.

Every time we meet with our CSM, Sarah, she drops little nuggets of wisdom of what her other customers are doing. And I particularly love the community that they've created through Skilljar Connect and their coffee chats.

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

Skilljar's program is highly customizable and the team at skilljar is easy to work with.  The have been able to custom design a learning curriculum and automate to synchronize information with in-house servers.  Customers have an easy time accessing courses and completing required lessons/courses and quizzes.  Connecting the Skilljar template with API's has been fairly easy too! Our contact at Skilljar (Ana Mays) has been very helpful and responsive.  We have also been able to get Skilljar approved for use by Mitsubishi headquarters which is very difficult o do.  The implications of this mean the security measures for the content are high enough that a corporation with thousands of employees and highly confidential information has approved Skilljar's protective means.  A big accomplishment to say the least.

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

There is a learning curve in creating the courses and being able to publish them effectively.  Much of this is user based however.  Analytics are great - couldn't really determine a way to improve that portion, though custom reports could be an interesting idea similar to pivot tables.  Downloading data is difficult - specifically exporting to excel (unless I just don't know how)

**Recommendations to others considering Skilljar by Gainsight:**

Consider API implementation from the beginning rather than as a after thought.  Also consider smaller, easy to digest lessons that are easy to understand and to the point.  Developing appropriate material along with the skilljar template makes the end result a winner.

**What problems is Skilljar by Gainsight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to synchronize manual processes using 3 different systems into a fully automated process. This saves roughly 2 days per week for one of our admin members and makes in-class scheduling a snap.  Working through the 2-way communicating API now to finalize the data transfer for automation has been relatively easy, but mostly because the size of our company - I have an IT team to perform the required actions on our side.

**What do you like best about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

When comparing LMS' there are no lack of options! What I found during the process is that most LMS' are from legacy providers that either cost a lot or take a whole lot of effort to get off the ground. SkillJar is a modern LMS designed for companies that are scaling their training programs quickly and don't have dozens of resources to get them off the ground. We were able to sign our contract and publish our first course in less than 30 days and have only grown it from there. I also love the easy customization SkillJar offers to make sure your LMS feels like your brand and not some sort of freeware. Also, the analytics keep getting better.

I also want to give a shoutout to the customer success organization at SkillJar for giving as much help as needed, and continuing to show how you are getting value / how you could get more value.

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

I would like to see SkillJar's product be enhanced more frequently, although that has been improving. One other sticking point for me is that sometimes our enterprise clients have trouble accessing the videos in the course because the player SkillJar uses sometimes needs to be  whitelisted. This isn't a huge deal but has caught us unaware a couple of time. I would also like to see better messaging in the application to better engage with our users.

SkillJar is not the most robust LMS on the market. But it's one built recently and with the needs of today's quickly growing companies in mind.

Before we embarked on our LMS journey, humanas were being sent around the country to do training sessions. With SkillJar we were able to significantly decrease the amount of live classroom training and instead encourage our clients to leverage CBT. This has allowed us to scale without hiring more trainers, ensure that all users are on boarded in the latest and greatest training and that we can track completion rate. As a bonus we have also been able to leverage SkillJar internally.

I like the ability to easily add content to the system, create different catalogue pages for like content, and easily change module and course content without having to re-version the entire course.

The ability to create groups and edit course permissions so that we can create custom courseware for our customers has come in useful.

The CSM team is very helpful and attentive and I appreciate that about SkillJar. They also host weekly webinars that I find useful because they allow me to learn about best practices.

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

The UI of the system is not great. If you know how to code then this is an awesome platform as you can basically turn it into whatever you like. If you do not have that background the platform is very limited and clunky. It would be nice if the CSM team could create or provide basic pieces of code so that customers can make their environment look the way SkillJar academy does / how the product is advertised. 

The admin UI is not intuitive and it takes several clicks to access content and materials. I have had to do quick screen shares for my co-workers in order to direct them to content that should be easily accessible. (Catalog pages, themes, user course completions etc.)  It would be great if you had some kind of in-app cues that help admins navigate the backend the first few times they access the tool. 

The reporting feature is extremely limited and makes it difficult to create reports and access data in a timely fashion.

Providing recorded content to our community so that they can learn about our product at the most convenient time for them. We have seen users accessing and completing content prior to requesting in-person meetings.

The people! I have never worked with a vendor more empathetic and supportive than Skilljar. I have also rarely worked with a vendor so filled with such humble yet incredibly bright minds. They truly put the customer first in all their interactions and it is this that makes up for the functionality they may not have yet. The product is very intuitive both for administrators of the platform and for end users. Skilljar is one of those tools/vendors that I will look to ensure my future employers have or are willing to look into.

There is some core LMS functionality that Skilljar does not have and needs. However, they are listening to their customers and have a roadmap that addresses much of these concerns. I would like to see Skilljar truly up their game in analytics and live training functionality. Once that functionality is there - there is no stopping them.

Skilljar has been upfront from the start about wanting our business outcomes to be achieved. Their implementation team and CSMs have been great, along with customer support. They care about creating a partnership with our team and that's gone a long way for us internally. 

They also have the right integrations we needed (Intercom, Hubspot, SFDC)  which makes our lives a lot easier.

Some of the course authoring could be made a little easier for individuals who make courses and want to move entire lessons between multiple courses. This would be a big time saver for us down the road!

**What do you like best about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

We have been Skilljar customers for a few years.  Our initial desire was for a LMS that allowed us to deliver online training.  We had numerous customers that requested smaller bits of training rather than our longer format instructor led certification courses.  After a successful internal solution that pulled together YouTube videos and embedded them into our product documentation, we made the case for a full fledged solution…and the search began.  It is a large world out there of LMS solutions and it can get cloudy really quickly - especially for someone from the education space.

What initially attracted us to Skilljar was their extreme focus on customer education and not features, toolsets, or being like every other solution out there.  Their product speaks directly to that niche of customer training, onboarding, and retaining, which is what we wanted.  Most vendors can display an exam, track progress, and deliver a SCORM file, but not many have the focus on customer education like Skilljar.  We learned quickly that the difference in focus is incredibly important when thinking about the goals for your training program.

Like many organizations, our CRM is Salesforce.  We knew from a very early stage that having learner data only in Skilljar was not going to cut it, as it also had to be in Salesforce.  What we quickly learned was that many vendors said they integrated with Salesforce, but when we tested and reviewed the data only one vendor really did integrate - Skilljar.  This functionality has been so incredibly helpful for many departments across our organization to verify onboarding progress for a new client in customer education, ensure knowledge was gained in a technical support case, or verify completion of an exam for services.

Finally, the Skilljar team has acted from the pre-sale, post-sale, and today exactly like you would want a member of your family to act.  They have been supportive, not pushy, and present to help us succeed with every crazy question, ask, feature enhancement, or new problem in the ever changing world of customer education.  We simply could not have achieved the number of customers impacted, increase in NPS, or customer retention without them.  The Skilljar product is truly an incredible customer education tool and the team is an amazing partner.

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

The Skilljar product continues to grow, develop, and mature.  As a customer you have an incredible voice into the direction of the product in the future.  However, a few areas that could use some improvement:
+Frontend UI: There is still a very basic “out of the box” look for most organizations.  Although it is very customizable, this effort may require learning some additional programming languages, asking for assistance from other departments, or working with the Skilljar team to achieve a result that your organization requires.  It would be helpful for more additional customization to built in or easily accessed through documentation or onboarding services.
+Localization/Translation support: As a global company we need to provide content in a variety of languages.  The Language Packs feature assists in a number of ways and when combined with Catalog Pages it can truly achieve a lot for customers.  However, adding in text content or modifying main elements in the UI is a manual copy and paste effort without any backend integrations or support to date.
+Dashboard User Permissions: The ability to customize, modify, or pair down rights for publishing, viewing, or restricting content or publishing is lacking.  Very broad default permission sets exist, which makes Dashboard access difficult to share as adoption increases across an organization.  The addition of a customer facing audit log would also be incredibly beneficial.
+Content and Publishing Delineation: With internal, external, partner, and various other groups accessing and leveraging the Dashboard there are not many ways to organize content or allow a content creator to publish only to a specific domain.

We may have run into some of these issues due to the complex nature of our customer education program or the scale of our customers.  Regardless, Skilljar has been very receptive of our feedback, made consistent and iterative progress on new features, and has a solid road map for the future.

Skilljar allows us to educate our customers about our products - whenever and wherever.  We continue to track an increase in NPS, CSAT, customer retention, customer health score, and more as a result of introducing this tool for online training, customer onboarding, and certification.

As a result of Skilljar we now have an answer for customers that want an on-demand, online onboarding experience or desire to receive a certification without attending an in-person course.  We can also help our customers continue to learn and adopt new features after implementation.  

It is also incredible to see how Skilljar is a name that everyone in our organization knows - because of the impact it has had on our customers.  We could not have achieved the gains mentioned above without the Skilljar product and the support of their incredible team.

Skilljar's built-in administrator panels make course creation simple.  Skilljar uses an HTML5 WYSIWYG editor which allows any person to create, edit, and publish courses without prior Web Development or LMS experience.  Skilljar's support team has always been responsive and issues are quickly resolved.

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

Although Skilljar offers built-in quizzes, the amount of question types is lacking.  Skilljar offers multiple choice, multiple answer, fill in the bank, and freeform questions.  Popular question types such as matching, image hotspots, and video assessment uploads are missing.

**What problems is Skilljar by Gainsight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Skilljar's public-facing course catalog and integration with payment providers like Stripe make it easy for any organization that is looking to sell courseware.  Combined with the ability to create access codes, promotion codes, and multiple sub-domains, an organization can easily create learning spaces for internal users, partners, and customers.  Best of all, you can use the same course on each learning space but have different access policy and pricing based on the learning space (ex: free for internal users, 50% discount for partners, full price for customers)

We evaluated several LMS vendors and ended up going with Skilljar and things have been great so far. 3 key benefits:
- I have a lot of experience from using previous LMS systems, and Skilljar was super intuitive and followed "industry standards" in terms of setting up courses, sections, and lessons, allowing me to create courses really quickly
- Right from the start, the support has been excellent. Our Account Executive was knowledgable and responsive, and our Implementation Manager Lindsey has been amazing. She has looked into and answered any and all questions either on the fly or within 24 hours, and has brought in other Skilljar experts when necessary.
- The customization is extensive. I've asked some fairly complicated questions and it seems there's always a way to accomplish what is needed buried 5 menus deep, or through pasting in some custom code. It's hard to stump them.

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

The only improvement I've seen so far would be having a little more visually robust templates design-wise out of the gate. The plus side is that you can dig into the code with a design and create things however you want, but for the average user it takes a bit of effort.

Skilljar allows for a really plug and play style of course building. I'm working on multiple courses that have similar content but are designed for different audiences. I save a lot of time only having to make updates in one place!

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

Overall it's really easy to use but sometimes I forget in which settings/configuration area certain settings are. 

**Recommendations to others considering Skilljar by Gainsight:**

If you have your own content and are looking for a scalable place to host and track users, Skilljar is for you. 

**What problems is Skilljar by Gainsight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scalability. We are scaling our training and support team through online training. We have realized a lot of time and cost savings.

Not only is Skilljar easy to learn, navigate, adopt, and manage, but the entire Skilljar team  is incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, accessible, and communicative. They also show that they truly care, and consistently offer their skills and insight to ensure your success. Their collaboration feels like true partnership!

**What do you dislike about Skilljar by Gainsight?**

I think more robust reporting could be helpful, as well as improving the course series experience by making it super easy for learners to move between courses in a series.

**What problems is Skilljar by Gainsight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to scale training and education for our customers with consistent content, relieving our support and Customer Success team's time for more strategic processes. We have an extremely high completion rate within our course series which has increased user satisfaction and decreased time spent on-boarding, and given our customers the ability to access valuable content easily, cutting down support requests and driving engagement/adoption of our platform.

It's very easy to add text lessons, videos, and SCORM to Skilljar. I love how easy it is now to create catalog pages with courses broken into lessons and sections.

Skilljar allows for lots of flexibility, so think about how you want to report on users' behavior when deciding how to break content down in courses and lessons.
