The youtube references and intuitive interface work well with the highly accurate and infinitely detailed drawing tools. Within a week I was able to work productively by simply practicing on active projects.
I also love that there are loads of you tube tutorials that allow me to grow more rapidly since I use this for personal and volunteer applications not for financial gain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are some non-native interactions with other cad programs and a few interface differences from the 2d cad programs I have used in the past. A few things I used heavily require searching for alternate means to accomplish. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is a fairly simple program to learn, I would have liked to know how to use it in my university years.
I love almost everything about SketchUp.
And I have tried other software and they are not very friendly, the learning process can take many months, whereas SketchUp can be learned in a matter of days. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wouldn't say I like the new appearance of the toolbars, everything is chromatic which makes it difficult to locate the commands, the previous version had icons that stood out at first glance, these sky blue tones don't help me work, especially for those of us who have vision problems.
The other thing that would seem great to me is if we could work on SketchUp not only on a large scale but also on small scales, it would be a powerful program since you could practically draw everything from a tiny industrial ring to a house. All in one software! Actually, I work on industrial and architectural projects, so this could be super great.
The program should already have a realistic viewer integrated as a tool, like a Lumion but not an extension, only one more tool on the bars.
Sketchup is really an excellent program, it's just that sometimes it's tedious to look for all the tools that I need in different softwares to be able to create a complete and realistic design.
The power of sketchup is in how simple the program is.
When I'm designing I would like to only work with Autocad and SketchUp, but instead, I need to support my designs with more than one software.
I work everyday with SketchUp and AutoCad, and being honest I love both programs, I really enjoy my job only because I have these two monsters in my job computer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Very easy to adopt and use. It's all around capability for modeling and developing a concept, all the way to a final project. The way it can be expanded with plugins to make it tailor made to a specific project or problem, or to integrate it with other software programs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It tends to be unstable. I've had my share of lost work along my 20+ years of using Sketchup, I lived trhough the Last Software independent years, the Google years and now the Trimble era, and thoughout all those years it has been always a little unstable. (At least in MACOS). On its own it is not that bad but when extensions are added, which are absolutely necessary to improve it's capabilities, then it's a hit or miss of stability. This is my only gripe with Sketchup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Intuitive software that makes it super easy to translate ideas into visual concepts for my clients to see and understand. It's my go-to program for creating floorplans and renderings -I use it for most of my projects. It's also easy to import outside plans and elevations from other software or scans of hard copies. You need a separate software to create good renderings for 3D visuals. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

SketchUp is easy to learn for beginners, but has enough flexibility that it can be used for complex professional projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a shame that the Revit importer is only available to Studio subscribers. I don't have any need for V-ray as I use different rendering software, but I have great need to be able to import Revit files. It should at least be offered as a stand-alone purchase. SketchUp is very easy to use and is great for design studies. The features that have been added with each version update are a huge bonus in saving time during modeling. SketchUp's ability to integrate well with other apps like Enscape really makes it a powerful tool in presenting design concepts to our clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I honestly can't think of anything I dislike about SketchUp. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easily works with CAD line work and allows us to create accurate models quickly. As a landscape architecture office, we use SketchUp to study design options and SketchUp allows us to quickly work through study models. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Terrain modeling can be a bit clunky. CAD lines don't close off to create faces very well without plugins, even if the CAD line work is closed prior to importing. Can be some issues with draping. When models are too far away from 0,0 (origin), some odd things happen with zooming - when zooming in, the model can disappear, then reappears upon zooming out. It helps me visualize my project and review constructability. It also is a great tool to create fabrication drawings from a detailed construction model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I wish I could save my toolbars and user interface when prograding to the newest sketchup. i always have to re configure my tools. I also wish the default materials were updated and added to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can easily draw up a customers ideas in a way that they can see what they'll really look like. I like that I can add actual things from the 3D warehouse to add depth to my drawings. I use Mozaic for kitchens and it is easy to export kitchen plans from Mozaic to SketchUp. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I need to learn how to use it better. When I try to modify things after I've created them, I seem to mess up everything I drew. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I used to hand draw designs for clients, and every change took ages to implement. With Sketchup I can quickly update to the client's desires and get working faster. This tool has helped me get more business because of this! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a learning curve to getting started that may be a barrier for some. But if you are persistent the rewards are great! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
