Sketchup is a simple and fast way to create scaled construction details for my personnel in the field. It's also great for illustrating certain details to clients, to help them visualize the end-product for things like built-ins.
We can also use it for quick modeling of homes during the early phase of design and pre construction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Sketchup does what it does quickly and easily. It's easy to learn, easy to use, and a great tool for quick schematics. It's fluid and immediate. Definitely leans on the "sketch" part of Sketchup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Though it's good for quickly testing designs and alternatives, trying to do more detailed development work is a mess. It bogs down quickly with larger models, the layering/tagging system is clunky and hard to use, and the materials system is the worst I've ever encountered. Makes you want to tear your hair out. Everyone in the office uses it constantly, and even give the tradeoffs we don't use anything else, but Sketchup's biggest expense is replacing all of the computers you end up throwing across the room in frustration. Ease of use. SketchUp is simple to learn and has a great graphic interface. It's great for beginners who are interested in 3d modeling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The cost of a pro license it prohibitive. I would like a better way to prepare my sketches for printing without the high cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
