I like the way you raise projects / quotes based on sites rather than individual areas.

**What do you dislike about Simpro?**

It would be good to have a bit more functionality around quoting for example some tenders may go out to more than one client and would be great to have some kind of entry system for follow ups. Currently i'm using a separate database to keep track of my sale enquiries.

Sometimes Sim pro will crash without warning, and if you have no signal, it's very hard to use and might end up duplicating photos.

We like that it is user friendly, that when you do a PO it automatically allocates the expense to the job with a mark-up and you can track jobs easily

**What do you dislike about Simpro?**

Downside for us, is that the timesheets don't go across to our Payroll system

Their have been many improvements in simpro since we started nearly 2 years ago.  The ease of using the software, it has reduced the amount of paperwork.

**What do you like best about Simpro?**

Simpro is an excellent product to use as a job management system in our electrical business. It is able to perform many tasks within the product and fulfills many needs of our business. The project management and stock management are excellent features that have helped make our business run smoother.

**What do you dislike about Simpro?**

SImpro has a lot of features that are designed to service a variety of industries. Although this is very helpful, it also makes the platform feel clunky and simple features can be overlooked. Furthermore, the pricing structure could be improved. Currently, they have a paid license for either the mobile edition or the enterprise edition. I would suggest creating a third license between the mobile and enterprise license for workers who need access to some parts of Simpro but not the entire enterprise edition. For example, instead of having to pay 600% of the mobile price to give them access to additional information, perhaps there could be a middle price.

**What problems is Simpro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simpro is great at helping our business quote, record jobs, invoice and receive payment for our work. It has a large range of features that can handle most aspects of the business; however workarounds may be needed to utilize these features in the unique environment of individual businesses.

**What do you like best about Simpro?**

Simpro has easy to navigate and well laid out menu's. Software is modern. I like the ease of putting costs together when quoting as it is simply a few clicks and you have the parts/labour in the job and can update prices easily. Breakdown of quotes and jobs into cost centres makes it easier to determine where the costs are and makes it easier for other staff to understand how costs and labour are broken down. Duplicating quotes and jobs is helpful and time saving. Stock tracking is good compared to our seemingly non-existent previous system, makes it easier to locate items in the factory.

**What do you dislike about Simpro?**

Search function can be a bit difficult to use at times. If the item you are searching for is not input in the correct order then it won't return a result. EG if I an item is on our system as '50mm copper bend' and I search 'copper bend 50mm' then the system will not find it. Some form generation can also be a bit more time consuming than required to correct. If I have multiple cost centres for instance with a description on the main summary screen then the quote for instance will generate the pricing breakdown for each cost centre with the main summary description repeated for each cost centre.

**What problems is Simpro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our stock was difficult to track and find in our factory before Simpro. Our method of doing this was inaccurate as we didn't have everything listed and locations logged. Simpro allows us to easily input locations, view stock levels and see if we have the item on order quite easily. We are now able to keep on top of our stock levels, see where stock is being allocated to and find it in the factory more quickly.

The amount of detail that is able to be captured.
Reporting can eb varied and if you spend te time t learn the system thoroughly, reporting can be very detailed.

**What do you dislike about Simpro?**

It was extremely time consuming and complex to get anerythign up and running.
TPAR does not feed across to QBO.

Splitting costs btw cost centres. Gives great % profit capabilities.

The asy of use and simple aspect of the system. As a company we use this to its full potential. Its good to keep record of jobs and where the teams are and what they have been up to, to use of this with finance.

Sometimes it can be slow. I am not aware of anything else to put here as what I use it for works well for me.

We use this for finance, the team can track their team and assign them job, keep a record of the jobs and how well they are doing.

The Simpro support and services are fantastic; they are always prompt to respond via email and are also very helpful over the phone. The software itself is comprehensive and includes all facets of job management making it easy to keep on track of leads, quotes, jobs and invoicing. It integrates seamlessly with other programs and suppliers also which is a huge time saver!

It can be slightly cumbersome to use initially as there are so many options and areas which need to be prefilled correctly for it to work effectively, but after the initial learning curve, it is a very useful tool.

Simpro enhanced our ability to actively manage all client requirements and staff. Additionally, the reporting functionality exceeds that of other job management platforms which means we have a clearer understanding of our business position.

The 2 main benefits for us are the recurring job function and the cost centre modules

**What do you dislike about Simpro?**

The functionality of the whole platform, there are far too many clicks for each process. Very time-consuming.
The tech support services are very slow and often need follow up - sometimes weeks later to get an answer to a query.
The inability to bulk edit/delete cost centres. (refer to the first point above)
The invoicing & statement emails never default to the correct client or email contact. Every email has to be managed and sent individually 
System emails from simPRO often go to spam for clients - meaning lots of follow up and repeat work to resend and check receipt
There are very limited category options for purchase orders. simPRO only offers ‘Stock’ or ‘Job’ as options and doesn't allow for purchases such as Small Plant & Equipment, Repairs & Maintenance etc etc.
the 'Submit an idea' platform - it's a joke. Some obvious and elementary upgrade suggestions can sit in the waiting room for years before they are actioned. The whole support backup side of simPRO is behind the 8 ball which is sad because they are constantly advertising the platform to new clients but can't really satisfy the ones they have already got.
The BI reporting  - you need to be BI expert to use it, it's dysfunctional for most people
The quote forms builder/plugins and general layout options. Have tried many times but it's a disaster. You spend hours editing a quote - when the client wants a revised quote the original one can't be edited - you have to start all over again..!
Their credit card payments provider - it's as clunky and as difficult to set up as you could imagine along with extremely unreasonable demands for personal information - so I gave up.  A simpler option such as stripe integration should be investigated.

Automated notifications for clients are a real winner for us - job reminders etc.
Recurring job management is a breeze with simpro
The pricing / prebuild function is very good and saves time.

In regards to development, with over 150,000 simPRO users, the Ideas Portal receives many suggestions every day.  We can reassure you though that every idea submitted is reviewed by the simPRO team. Many factors go into prioritisation of development including how many users will benefit from the feature, and the knock on effects it may cause to others. simPRO has a development team dedicated solely to acting on these suggestions and in the last year alone, the team has been able to resolve over 120 ideas. Currently most of the "Top Ideas" on the ideas portal are in progress or committed to, and we look forward to sharing these features with the community soon. We acknowledge that the application process for the payment provider we use where Square is not available can be challenging. We are investigating options available to New Zealand to deliver the same streamlined experience that we are able to provide to users in other regions. We hope to continue to hear feedback from you in the future so that we are able to shape our software to fit your needs. The most helpful are the people who work there!  I had an issue trying to upload some files and they were so helpful and patient.

Simpro is also easy to use and finding help online is super simple.

Perhaps just a couple of small modifications to the scheduling screen to help see more details on scheduled jobs (for example, click on a job to open it, rather than right-click, edit job).

Updating price lists.  

We can export existing price lists, change them and re-import them with ease

This makes us more productive as we are not having to refer to hard copies of suppliers price lists.

It takes much of the load off Quickbooks, and gives us much more freedom in billing, invoicing, etc... The contact database is much more usable compared to our old CRM and to QBO as well. Linked items in the Catalog is a very handy and useful feature.

A few of the deficiencies we have found so far are as follows (several of which have been submitted to SimPRO as a change for consideration): 

Sites can only be 1 level deep. This is unrealistic in a contracting world where a customer may have businesses they service, each of which may have several sites, and several rooms within each site to keep track of. Having sites be multi-level deep would be a great improvement. 

Much of the terminology is not standard US terminology. It would be easier to transition if the US version of the product were to use standard US terminology. (i.e. Bill vs. Invoice, Trade Price vs. Dealer Cost, Labor Rates vs. Schedule Rates and Fit Times, etc...). 

When entering an item into the Catalog, there is no field available to track a Manufacturer's Part Number (which is often different than the actual model number itself). This is common practice, and is supported on other platforms. 

Finally, training - it was done by the "firehose method". We were told about every single option and way of doing things. It was overwhelming. Granted, it's nice to have different ways to do things, but what we really needed was guidance to get us up and running in OUR SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCE, knowing that we could make changes along the way as we learned our needs better, and learned the system better. For example, if you contact Microsoft about a certain issue, they'll tell you exactly how to access the resource required to address this issue. We all know there are plenty of ways to navigate Windows or Office to access different things, but they have the good sense to tell us ONE way that works every time. As we learn the platform, no matter what it is, we all learn shortcuts and different ways of doing things. Trying to teach everything in an initial training is folly at best, and makes the process extremely painful and more difficult than necessary. Specifically, the notion of using Cost Centers was foreign to us, and this was not adequately explained during training. This is foundational to the creation of Quotes/Invoices/Jobs in SimPRO. Much work needs to be done to improve the onboarding process.

**Recommendations to others considering Simpro:**

Do your research. They are one of a very few that seem to have a good understanding of the contracting world, so they may be a good fit for your business.

**What problems is Simpro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The accounting side seems to be easier to use than QBO. The mobile app is definitely an upgrade for us, and for our techs in the field. It's a bit more than we're used to in terms of setup and maintenance of data, but I think it's going to be worth it in the end, once we are fully up and running at our peak ,

Simpro has simplified processes that we previously struggled with such as scheduling team members for upcoming jobs. Viewing our profit and loss margins on our jobs. This has helped our company hone in on weaknesses to help us constantly improve our methods of working.

I believe the delivery docket system under forms could use some improvement. A few features in forms could be improved to help streamline our way of working. I would like to see a feature where you could turn previously ordered items to be searchable that are not catalogued.

The main problem we've solved here is our profit margins on our jobs. This has helped us improve internal ways of working to increase production. It has also helped us to decide whether to invest in further tooling by checking out profit and loss margins for certain jobs.

**What do you like best about Simpro?**

There are so many aspects to Simpro that we love i.e.Stock management, reporting and user workability but I find the support and video tutorials the most beneficial.

**What do you dislike about Simpro?**

I think it's important to communicate with the guys on what still needs to be done for specific jobs and there is a module to add tasks. Tasks don't work to well for us at the moment, because its not visible straight away on a dashboard, however as they work on that more it will be more useful.

**Recommendations to others considering Simpro:**

Simpro is the best software available for job management. I would 100% recommend the training too, it's worth getting someone to help set up.

**What problems is Simpro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The reporting brings us the most benefit, we're able to report on so many things which help us manage our business and staff so much better. We're also able to automate these which saves us on time.

The scheduling has been a great asset for our time management. Purchase orders and the auto receipting on invoices is a huge time saver.

**What do you dislike about Simpro?**

A couple of glitches in how stock in job sheets is managed, and technician's travel logging would be good.  Also some sort of SMS for when the technition is on their way like service mate.

**What problems is Simpro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The use of purchase orders has been a huge benefit for efficiency and stock monitoring.  This has also saved a lot of time processing jobs.  
The prebuilds and ground plan integration works well also.

We had nothing before SimPro, the system works well, and does all we need, I like that the program is updated regularly, and we use the scheduling feature for every job.

**What do you dislike about Simpro?**

Being able to move the time when a mechanic uses the wrong job number. I would also like to be able to add an activity to a job number as a sub-item. The mobile app could use some improvements so the mechanics dont cross jobs with the wrong info.

I did my homework before getting SimPro, THis product has great support, you will get the help you need.

SimPro is keeping all the work we need to do visible, we are billing work and making sure the customer is being served, and the leads function helps the sales side keep track of new work.

Allocating jobs to staff in the field and seeing the job starting, progressing and completing . Having a job loaded in the system avoids accidentally losing a real job

**What do you dislike about Simpro?**

Being unable to download multiple pictures in one step. Each image has to be opened individually and then downloaded to the computer. I don't. always need to view them prior to downloading

Keeping track of individual job attendances and costs per visit. Tracking, recording and storing on and off-site times. This has been a cost capture that reflects our actual cost per job.

It is horrendously click-heavy, and other functions such as simple CRM are unintelligible. The reporting is the antithesis of agile - complex and static. It can provide a semblance of what you need but cannot produce filterable reporting amongst others

It is brilliant at job management - case management, and stock control.
