Every time I get an introduction to a new individual, or see a name I don't recognize on a meeting invite, I fire up Sift and immediately search for that individual to figure out where they sit in the org. More importantly, that search tells me who I know that's "near" them so I can get a better sense of what they do and how we can work to win-win outcomes. Honestly, I had no idea I needed this tool until I got started using it, and now you can't take it away from me or I'll sit down in the middle of the floor and bawl like a baby. **What do you dislike about Sift?** I wish there was an API for it; there's a number of times I'd like to be able to write a quick little Python or Ruby script that does some deeper queries about the organization, or does some comparisons of "before" and "after" to help figure out reorg changes. **What problems is Sift solving and how is that benefiting you?** I think I said this earlier, but it gives a good "window" into the org around me. I have twice now built new teams/organizations within the business, neither of which had much to do with each other, which means I'm frequently connecting with people well outside the "silo" in which my team operates. Before Sift, we had UltiPro. UltiPro's org chart tool is clunky, tough to use, and outdated. Sift helped bring a modern look and feel to our organization, and felt better aligned with our focus on keeping things simple and modern. Going beyond UltiPro's core functionality, Sift enhanced the directory experience. Now employees can search "Rockclimbing" and "Denver" and see the people they can invite into the mountains on their next weekend trip, or get quick help with Java Script issue they're running into when they're searching through key skills of the members on their team. **What do you dislike about Sift?** Sift is highly function and usable, but sometimes I do wish there way more formatting/customization that could happen in the org charts too but expanding multiple trees or collapsing some to get more appropriate exports of org chart setups. **What problems is Sift solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sift has been a valuable tool for new hires as they onboard at our company. Onboarding as a remote employee has its challenges, but being able to match names and faces to profiles that go beyond a job title has been an important highlight of our new reality of onboarding remotely. Sift's main value-add at our company comes from enabling people to connect beyond a PDF org chart they're given on their first day. Whenever I need that information, I use Sift. The org chart is so helpful for me. Whenever I need to talk to somebody from a certain team, I browse in the org chart and search from there. In a small organization where everyone is just down the hall, it's easy to figure out who does what. But for a company my size, and especially in the new world of remote work, that option simply doesn't exist. I enjoy the transparency of team member information, including where they are located, in what building, and even where to find their desk. This feature saves me having to communicate with the team member, attempting to locate them, and saves time by not needing additional assistance or someone at a front desk to provide information about their whereabouts. The "recent search" option is something I like, because it may provide some insight for something I did recently and did not remember, but the search term itself was helpful for a previous search. Under the "explore option", depending on what I am looking for, I can search someone based on what school they went to, their different key terms, in case I am looking for someone with very specific characteristics. There was a time we had a mission to find someone on another team to discuss different areas of the business. This feature really assisted me, so I didn't have to completely start from scratch. With little knowledge of other areas of the company, I did not feel completely lost. By using the "filter" option, I am able to break down the entire family of companies based on the company an employee works for. From there, I can select a team within the company, and find a person based on their characteristics. This is a really good option when needing to find someone quickly. It is quite efficient for these reasons. **What do you dislike about Sift?** One thing I have noticed about adding skills, is, if there is not a pre-loaded option, you are unable to add it yourself. At least I have not figured out a way on how to do this. Another option that may be of use is to know different team member hours, or if they are currently online and available to chat or receive phone calls/emails/messages in the moment. I do recognize that the application can easily connect to our Microsoft Teams application, but it would be helpful if I can see if the user is active in that very moment. **Recommendations to others considering Sift:** If you just type "Sift/" into your browser and know exactly who you need to get ahold of, it is extremely user friendly. I would assume there have been multiple additions to the SIFT experience since I have become a user, so I can also assume that It can only improve moving forward. **What problems is Sift solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is important for me to know team member leaders for many of my tasks. I really appreciate the org chart feature. I also like locating team members for purposes of Q'nnects or meetings. In recent searches, I have recognized that the skills people have listed can be searched. For example, if I have a question regarding foreclosure, I am able to see the very top of the chain of command to the base of the team member organization. Also, many of our clients do not just speak the English language. It really is useful, especially to the account resolution team, to be able to connect with a team member who speaks the same language they do. With this feature, I could connect the client to a bilingual team member so that they are able to have the best client experience. Coming into such a large organization I used Sift everyday as a tool to figure out not only who my fellow team members were but others in the Bedrock organization. Being able to have a face to a name made it less stressful being a new team member. Also, being able to see who senior leadership was and who reported to them to be able to figure out the organization of the business.
