## SHRM Reviews
  ### 1. Helpful Platform for HR Professionals

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marissa C. | HR Generalist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**Describe the project or task SHRM helped with:**

SHRM is an excellent resource for new or old HR professionals to get the information, policies, resources, templates, and breaking news that affects the HR industry. We commonly use it to find templates on new procedures. As a younger company, we don't have as much structure yet as more significant, older companies, so using SHRM to find the resources we need to continue providing our employees with a structured and transparent company is excellent. We don't use any other resource besides SHRM.

**What do you like best about SHRM?**

SHRM has templates that we take advantage of most often. Rather than writing an entire policy itself, we often can use their templates and then tweak information that is relevant to our company. We also often use the breaking news email and homepage to update us on new laws that affect the workplace, such as new COVID vaccine restrictions. The emails, when not spam, are often useful for information that we should be aware of without my having to review the homepage everyday for updates.

**What do you dislike about SHRM?**

There are some times where SHRM doesn't have tools that seem pretty basic- but to be honest, I cannot provide an example because it happens relatively infrequently. There are times when a policy template is over simplified and doesn't give examples of realistic situations in life, but this is also infrequent. Overall, we are delighted with SHRM, and I cannot think why I would stop using these resources ever. The email notifications are probably the only thing I dislike- I want to keep them on because once in a while there is important information to be aware of, but overall they send out multiple a day which seems excessive.

**Recommendations to others considering SHRM:**

You will not be wasting your money with a membership here! SHRM is an essential guide for any Human Resources professional. There is no other website as comprehensive and easy to use as SHRM for all your business essentials.

**What problems is SHRM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a small company, we do not have must guidance when it comes to handbooks, policies, and procedures. We have received a lot of advice using the resources that SHRM provides on their website. We often use the Templates function, which has saved us hours writing the policy from scratch and helps us maintain legal requirements.

  ### 2. The Go-To Source for All Things HR

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2021

**Describe the project or task SHRM helped with:**

I use SHRM as a resource for a lot of things, including policies, templates, legal updates, and mostly, their forums for collaborating with other HR professionals.

**What do you like best about SHRM?**

SHRM has long been the go-to resource for all things HR, and therefore has the largest network of HR professionals in the world providing expertise on any and everything HR-related.

**What do you dislike about SHRM?**

In the last couple of years, SHRM seems to have become more "corporate" feeling. Dues have increased, topics covered seem to be more politically motivated than ever before, and many HR professionals that I interact with have been looking for other resources.

**What problems is SHRM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The best thing about SHRM for me is the connection to local chapters where I am able to meet up, network, and collaborate with other HR professionals in my area.

**What do you like best about SHRM?**

I enjoy the ability to speak with other members that are knowledgeable in different companies of different industries, while we are all working with the same purpose of being a valuable and knowledgable HR professional as possible. The lawyers at Fisher Phillips are extremely helpful as well.

**What do you dislike about SHRM?**

I haven't come across anything I disliked so far.

  ### 6. Professional Standards

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lisa S. | Human Resources Consultant, Human Resources, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2019

SHRM has been an ongoing source of information and learning in achieving my SCP and CP certifications and re-certifications.

**What do you like best about SHRM?**

Th e library and updates in employment law are great tools for me to keep up to date on trends and changes that affect the work force.

**What do you dislike about SHRM?**

The site could be more user friendly and extended times for service calls would be helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering SHRM:**

SHRM is a great organization that establishes standards and adds value to the role of HR. It is also a great source of information to not only seasoned professionals but also provides an opportunity to mentor new grads and JR members of our profession.

**What problems is SHRM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to acquire all credits needed to re-certify via the e library.

  ### 7. Professional Association

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karen H. | Director of Human Resources and Risk Management | HR Manager | Admin Coordinator (Office Manager), Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2019

**Describe the project or task SHRM helped with:**

SHRM is a professional association for human resource professionals. As a member of SHRM, you are able to obtain information pertaining to the HR industry, certification, and much more.

**What do you like best about SHRM?**

SHRM is a good resource for human resources from the executive level to entry level. They have a good website and local chapters to help you navigate your work and network with your peers.

**What do you dislike about SHRM?**

SHRM is a bit political and if they are lobbying in one direction you don't agree with you cannot get them to move any direction other than the way the leadership feels. I also don't like how cliquey the local chapters can be and it can be difficult to navigate the politics. I also don't like how they tend to focus on the future HR leaders and not working with those of us still trying to get to the top. They tend to try and push the Millenials down our throats and fail to support GenX. I also don't like how they have dumbed down our certification by having their own. If is a conflict of interest to have the association certifying its own members. HRCI should have been forced to change direction and keep the certification separate. My SHRM certication is very invaluable. My HRCI is the most valuable. They need to recognize it is inapprpriate what they did and it seems it is just a revenue generating gimmick.

**Recommendations to others considering SHRM:**

If you are an HR professional you should be a member of SHRM and a local SHRM chapter. It is a benefit to your career and a resource for tools and knowledge.

**What problems is SHRM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SHRM doesn't necessarily solve any problems. They provide good resources and help with professional certification recognition.
