One of the things I like about the ServiceNow App Engine is how quickly it enables application development through its low-code capabilities. It streamlines the process of building custom business applications, while still maintaining enterprise-grade scalability and security.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

One challenge I see with ServiceNow is the platform’s complexity, especially when you’re working with highly customized implementations. Extensive customization can make upgrades and ongoing maintenance more difficult and time-consuming. Additionally, some advanced features require specialized knowledge, which can create a steep learning curve for new developers.

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I have been using ServiceNow App Engine for more than two years in my role as an IT Operations Manager. It's become a core part of my daily work and stands out most is how Faster we can build internal applications and automate operational processes without spending months in development. Tools like App Engine Studio, Flow Designer, UI Builder and the Service Catalogue make it easier for us to deliver solutions faster and keep improving rely on integration with Microsoft 36, Jira, REST APIs, which has made data sharing between systems much smoother and more straightforward.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

The platform offers a lot of functionality, but that breadth can sometimes make it hard to navigate and a bit confusing. Some of the more advanced customization still requires scripting knowledge and upgrading applications takes careful testing to avoid unexpected issues.

**What problems is ServiceNow App Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us automate operational requests, approval chains, compliance tracking, internal service processes. As a result, we’ve significantly reduced manual follow-ups and gained better visibility across teams. it’s made it easier to standardize how we handle requests, and we save time each week.

What I like most about ServiceNow is how it brings different business processes together in a single platform, which makes work more organized and efficient. It helps teams automate repetitive tasks, communicate more smoothly, and track requests from start to finish, saving time and reducing errors along the way. I also appreciate the user-friendly interface and the strong workflow capabilities, since they make it easier to manage IT services, customer support, and other day-to-day business operations. Overall, ServiceNow has helped our organization boost productivity while delivering a better experience for both employees and customers.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

While I appreciate the capabilities of ServiceNow, the aspect I like least is its steep learning curve for new users, largely because of the platform’s extensive features and customization options. As a result, some tasks can feel complex at first and may require additional training or technical expertise to use effectively. That said, once users become familiar with the system, its powerful functionality and flexibility often outweigh these initial challenges, making the early effort feel worthwhile.

What I like most about ServiceNow App Engine is how quickly it enables teams to build and deploy business applications with minimal custom coding. Its low-code development environment, drag-and-drop workflow tools, and integration capabilities help speed up development while still maintaining governance and security. In our case, we were able to automate internal processes and significantly reduce manual work.

Before we started using ServiceNow App Engine, many of our internal processes depended on email threads, spreadsheets, and manual approvals, which made it hard to track requests and tasks end to end. With App Engine, we were able to build custom workflows and applications that brought these processes into a single, centralized place. As a result, we gained better visibility, reduced manual effort, and helped teams respond to requests faster and more consistently.

It also became easier to connect different systems and automate repetitive tasks, which saved time for both technical and business teams. Overall, ServiceNow App Engine helped us streamline operations and gave us a more structured, reliable way to manage internal processes.

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

I like how fast I can go from idea to a working application with ServiceNow App Engine. I don't need to worry about setting up infrastructure or managing deployments because it takes care of that for me. I love that I can drop into JavaScript for more control, providing flexibility without losing the speed of low-code tools. The seamless integration with existing ServiceNow modules is fantastic, as everything lives in one platform. It really saves me a lot of time, allowing me to focus on actually building rather than managing environments. Fast development allows me to prototype and ship solutions quickly, and the ability to plug into existing data and workflows means less time on setup, letting me tackle real business problems.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

One thing that could be improved is the debugging experience, it can get frustrating when tracing errors in complex workflows. The low-code tools are great for simple apps but when things get more complex I find myself hitting limitations and having to rely heavily on scripting. The documentation could be more detailed in some areas, especially for advanced use cases, I sometimes have to dig through community forums to find answers. Performance can also be a concern when building larger applications with heavy workflows, it doesn't always scale as smoothly as I'd like.

I like that ServiceNow App Engine is easy to develop, configure, and deploy. I particularly appreciate the App Engine Excel uploader, which allows me to build an app directly from an Excel sheet. Additionally, using the App Repo for quickly pushing changes when deploying to production or other instances is really helpful. The initial setup was easy as well. The application was developed to replace old-age legacy app and thus improving the performance of order management, lead management, pricing management, effective ROI calculations by utilizing AI and Intelligence based workflows.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

Automations for the flows could be improved, and it's tough to develop integration flows. It seems a little uncomfortable for non-technical resources.

**What do you like best about ServiceNow App Engine?**

What I like best about ServiceNow App Engine is how it allows teams to build and automate business applications quickly without requiring extensive custom development from scratch. The low-code approach made it much easier for our teams to digitize internal workflows and replace several manual processes that were previously handled through emails, spreadsheets, and disconnected tools.

One of the biggest advantages for us has been workflow automation and process standardization. We were able to create custom operational applications for approvals, service requests, and internal tracking workflows while still keeping everything connected within the broader ServiceNow ecosystem.

The platform’s integration capabilities are another strong point. Since many of our ITSM and operational processes already existed within ServiceNow, App Engine helped extend those workflows into other departments without introducing multiple standalone systems.


Another feature that stood out was centralized governance and security. IT teams maintained visibility and control while business teams still had flexibility to build workflow-driven applications more efficiently.

Overall, ServiceNow App Engine helped improve operational efficiency, reduce manual administrative work, and accelerate internal application development across multiple business functions.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

One of the main challenges with ServiceNow App Engine is that while the platform promotes low-code development, more advanced customizations and complex workflows still require experienced ServiceNow developers or technical resources to implement properly.

We also found that the initial setup, governance planning, and application architecture required more effort than expected, especially when scaling workflows across multiple departments and integrating with existing enterprise systems.


Performance was generally stable, but highly customized applications and large workflows occasionally required optimization to maintain responsiveness and usability across teams.

Licensing and scaling costs can also become a consideration for organizations building multiple applications or expanding usage across broader business units.

The user interface is functional overall, but some configuration and administrative experiences still feel more IT-focused rather than fully business-user-friendly.

That said, once governance standards and development practices were properly established, the platform became much more effective for workflow automation and internal application development. Most of our concerns were related more to implementation complexity and scalability planning than the platform’s core capabilities.

ServiceNow App Engine helped us solve several challenges related to manual business processes, disconnected internal workflows, and slow application development across departments.

Before implementing the platform, many operational requests, approvals, and tracking processes were handled through emails, spreadsheets, and standalone tools. This created delays, inconsistent workflows, limited visibility, and a large amount of manual administrative work for both business and IT teams.

One of the biggest problems was the time required to build and deploy internal applications using traditional development approaches. With App Engine, we were able to create workflow-driven applications much faster using a low-code model while still maintaining governance and security standards within the ServiceNow ecosystem.


Another major benefit has been workflow automation. Repetitive tasks such as approvals, employee requests, operational tracking, and service coordination became much more streamlined, which reduced manual effort and improved response times significantly.

The integration with existing ServiceNow ITSM and operational processes was also valuable because it allowed teams to extend workflows without introducing multiple disconnected systems.

From a business perspective, ServiceNow App Engine helped accelerate internal application development, improve operational efficiency, reduce manual coordination, and create more scalable and transparent workflow management across the organization.

ServiceNow App Engine makes app building feel less intimidating while still being powerful for enterprise use. Since I’m still in the learning phase and exploring the platform over the last couple of months, the low code approach has been really helpful for understanding workflows, approvals, and automation without needing deep coding knowledge first. I also appreciate how everything stays connected inside the same ServiceNow ecosystem, which makes it easier to explore different modules and understand how real business processes work together. As someone currently learning and experimenting with modern enterprise tools, it feels like a practical platform with a lot of room to grow into.

**What do you dislike about ServiceNow App Engine?**

One thing that felt difficult in the beginning was understanding how different parts of ServiceNow App Engine connect together. Since I’m still learning the platform, some areas like integrations, advanced workflows, and UI customization were confusing at first and required more platform knowledge than I expected from a low code tool. Sometimes the interface also feels crowded with many options and tabs, which can slow down new users while exploring features. I think beginners would benefit from simpler onboarding, clearer guidance for real use cases, and easier explanations around app structure and automation logic. Once you spend time with it, the platform starts making more sense, but the initial learning experience can definitely feel overwhelming for new users.

I find the ServiceNow App Engine really useful for delivering incidents and creating tickets. It's great for tracking how much work is being done, which is very useful for us. I can easily create tasks and perform activities, and I appreciate that I can automate things like sending alerts and notifications to users or callers as needed.
